Orange, Teal, and Brown Thanks

Happy Snow Day! We're stuck inside today, so I thought I'd share a little card I made this weekend. I'm playing along with the Fusion Card Challenge again, with a really neat color combination and sketch. This took me a bit out of my comfort zone. If you're a regular here, you know I stay away from orange! Ha! But, this challenge was quite inspiring and I sprung at the opportunity to play along!

DEEtails:

I started off with some Soft Suede DSP and layered on some fun bright stripes from the Sycamore Street DSP. Then I added a doily and some flowers from Fabulous Florets. I stamped them in Dusty Durango on Whisper White and Tangerine Tango Cardstocks. Then I added a strip of Lost Lagoon Stitched Satin Ribbon and a sentiment from My Favorite Things and course a bit of sparkle. :) Hope you like it!

Good Thoughts

Hi there! Can you believe that November is coming to an end already? Wow!

Though I'm not quite back to fully crafting just yet, I've been playing around in my craft space again recently. I found a few cards that I had created back in September before I went to Hawaii and before everything crazy happened. It seems I never had a chance to post these, so I thought I'd share them now. Hope you like this one! :)

DEEtails:
Such a simple card really... Just a bit of DSP layered over a Basic Black card. I love this sentiment from the Perfect Pennants set and stamped it in Whisper White ink on some more Basic Black card stock. The flowers from Fabulous Florets are always a favorite, which I stamped in Crisp Cantaloupe on coordinating paper, cut out and layered with some Dimensionals. :)

Paper: Basic Black card stock, Crisp Cantaloupe card stock, Sweet Sorbet DSP
Stamps: Fabulous Florets, Perfect Pennants
Ink: Crisp Cantaloupe, Whisper White

Cupcake Inspirations Color Challenge

Happy Sunday! Today we have a pretty color combination over at Cupcake Inspirations to challenge you. Will you make something pretty? Or something pretty spooky? :)

DEEtails:

I saw this gorgeous card by Betsy Veldman that I just knew I had to CASE, so I started by stamping some pretty blossoms from Fabulous Florets in Elegant Eggplant on some Whisper White card stock. Then I added a piece of vellum over the top half. I stamped the sentiment from Curly Cute in VersaMark ink and embossed it. I love the look of white on white. I adhered everything to an Early Espresso card then tied some stitched grosgrain ribbon in Early Espresso across the front. Hope you like it!

Cupcake Inspirations Color Challenge

I'm here today with another lovely color challenge with the Sweeties from the Cupcake Inspirations Challenge. I do love picking the yummy cupcakes for our challenges each week and this week's inspiration is no exception! Check out these delicious colors!

DEEtails:
Our sponsor this week is Downtown Tape and they were generous to send over samples for our team. I've used these tapes before (on this card) - Skinny in the City and Blissful Bel-Air. I added the tape over some Whisper White card stock that I embossed with the Vine Street embossing plate. Then I added some pretty blooms from Secret Garden (Regal Rose), Fabulous Florets (Poppy Parade), and Perfectly Preserved (Elegant Eggplant). I added the sentiment from Oh, Hello, matted with some Poppy Parade card stock. I'm loving the bold colors against the crisp white!

Now be sure to pop over to Cupcake Inspirations and check out the other lovely washi tape cards from the rest of the Sweeties! Happy Sunday! :)

Naki and Nina's Double Dare Challenge 5

Hey there! Hope you're ready for another great challenge! Here are the picks for this week:

This week, Naki picked argyle...

While my pick was to use the Perfectly Preserved stamp set.

Here's what I came up with...

DEEtails:

I love this pretty pink argyle pattern from the Patio Party DSP. I paired it with some Raspberry Ripple for a sweet, girly card. I stamped the jar image from Perfectly Preserved onto some Baja Breeze card stock and cut it out. I tied on some Raspberry Ripple stitched grosgrain ribbon and adhered my jar to some Whisper White card stock. Then I added some stems in Gumball Green and some pretty Raspberry Ripple blooms using the Fabulous Florets set. I tucked a sweet doily underneath for a little extra something. What do you think?

If you haven't already done so, stop by Naki's blog and check out her card for the challenge. Then get crafty yourself and link up your creation! We can't wait to see it!

Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge

Guess what time it is? Yup! It's time for a new Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge! This week's color combination is a potentially SPOOKY one...

DEEtails:
I'm not really ready for something spooky just yet, so I went with bright and cheerful instead! :) I started with some Elegant Eggplant DSP and matted it onto some matching card stock. Then I added a strip of Whisper White, edged with a bit of Elegant Eggplant in the form of the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border. I stamped the sentiment from Sassy Salutations, which is my go to stamp set these days. I added some blooms using the Fabulous Florets set and some Stampin' Dimensionals and added a little taffeta bow to finish things off. Hope you like it!

Won't you join in some Pals Paper Arts fun? You can use any brand of product that you like! Just stick to this color combination and make something wonderful. Will you go with spooky or fun? Can't wait to see! :)

Cupcake Inspirations Challenge

Hey there! Here's my card for this week's Cupcake Inspirations Challenge. Aren't these little Oreo sunflowers adorable?!

Here are the DEEtails:

I started with stamping the jar from SU!'s Perfectly Preserved onto some Whisper White card stock. Then I added some leafy images using the bottom portion of the image from SU!'s Fabulous Florets in Gumball Green. It makes the perfect backdrop for my sunflowers. I made them with the layering three of  the smallest daisy shape on SU!'s Flower Daisies die. The card stock is Summer Sun. I made the centers of my flowers with Early Espresso card stock, embossed with Papertrey Ink's Diamonds Impression Plate, then punched with my 3/4" circle punch. I attached my sunflowers with some Stampin' Dimensionals. It is nearly impossible to see it in the photo, but I also die cut the jar on a Window Sheet to create the effect of a glossy surface on my jar. This was actually a little tricky, since the die cut is meant to be slightly larger than the stamped image. I actually lined it up with a stamped image on a piece of scrap paper and placed it on my die three times in order to cut it down to size. Perhaps that didn't make much sense...? Sorry... I used my Exacto knife to cut tiny slits on the edge of my stamped image and threaded some Linen Thread through the slits and tied on a Jewelry Tag, stamped with the sentiment from SU!'s Tiny Tags. Finally, I added a tiny bit of edging to my card base with some Gumball Green Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border and matted with some Marina Mist. Whew! That's it!

Don't forget to play along with this week's Cupcake Inspirations Challenge! Can't wait to see what you come up with! :)

Thanks So Much

Happy November! My how time flies! My goal has been to get back in the swing of things this month, so I've been busy at work the past few weeks trying to make up for lost time! I hope you'll get back into your routine of joining me for our daily chats!

I battled a crazy cold this weekend (I feel like I'm getting sick a lot recently), but managed to sneak a few minutes of crafting here and there between coughing fits, and lots of rest. I find it's nice to craft while sipping hot tea. Today's card is what I managed to create little by little. :)

I made this card for this week's CR84FN Challenge. Aren't these colors gorgeous? I'm especially loving the fabric swatches on the left, which I translated into swatches of Designer Series Papers. I've been really loving patterned papers recently. Here's a little secret... When I first got into Stampin' Up! I refused to buy their paper, for no particular reason, other than I prefered to spend my money on their stamps. Now I can't get enough of their card stock and DSP and sometimes will make an entire order of paper, DSP, accessories and NO stamps! Giggle!

Here are the DEEtails for today's card:

I had fun rummaging through my DSP to find the perfect mix for this card - from left to right, top to bottom I used a little Elegant Soiree, some Walk in the Park, Urban Garden for the next 3 blocks, some more Walk in the Park, a smidge of Windsor Knot, a bit more Walk in the Park, and a touch of Greenhouse Gala. I had hoped to be able to sew my little swatches to the card, but my sewing machine and I had a minor battle and I gave up. In the end, I distressed my edges and just adhered the pieces to my card. I added some fun ruffled ribbon from my stash and tucked a PTI Mat Stack die cut, stamped with the sentiment from SU!'s Everyday Wishes. I love that little whimsical touch at the bottom of the sentiment! Then I added some SU! Fabulous Florets, stamped on So Saffron and Baja Breeze card stock.

Colorful Thanks

Aren't these a fabulous mix of colors? Thanks to Embellish Magazine's Coloring Color Challenge, I've put them together to make this card.

Here's a secret... I'm not very good at coloring, nor will I ever claim to be... When I was little, I went to a private school and had TONS of homework. I never had enough time to color all my home work so my mom did it for me. *Giggle* Even as I got older, coloring was never a huge strength of mine, so my mom always helped me out with big projects, posters, etc. Now before you start thinking that I can't stay in the lines or anything like that, I'm not TERRIBLE... Just not GREAT. I haven't quite gotten a good technique down yet. You'll see some of my coloring skills on my projects that I do for the Cupcake Inspirations Challenges every Sunday.

For this card, and many others, I didn't actually color on the cardstock, but I did use my Stampin' Write Markers to color my stamps. Here's secret number 2... I actually don't use many ink pads. I own about 10 - all neutral colors. I also have the Stampin' Spots, however, I don't use them on a regular basis. Instead, nearly all my stamped images are colored in with Stampin' Write Markers (even the neutral colors because I tend to like the marker ink better).

So now that you know that I cheated a bit on this card, here are the DEEtails:

I started with a strip of Beyond the Garden DSP and added a Scallop Dots Ribbon Border punched in Regal Rose to the top and bottom. I adhered the paper to some Wild Wasabi cardstock and added a MS doily. I colored my stamps from SU!'s Fabulour Florets with some Melon Mambo and Garden Green Stampin' Write Markers and stamped them on Regal Rose and Wild Wasabi card stock. I love how that darker ink stands out on the card stock. I adhered them with Stampin' Dimensionals. Then I stamped my stentiment from SU!'s Thank You Kindly in VersaMark ink and heat embossed it using some white embossing powder. That white just pops on that Daffodil Delight. I trimmed it down to size and tucked it under my MS doily.

Thanks for stopping by today! :)

Happy Birthday Adrianne

I made a simple card the other day for my sister-in-law's birthday which was on Friday. I tried to tie in the colors of the cute new Vera Bradley print, Happy Snails. The bold colors on Navy are so fun!

I bought this fun lanyard for Adrianne to wear her badge along with some fun nail polish to match.

Card DEEtails:

This simple card was made with images from SU!'s Fabulous Florets stamped in Night of Navy on Pool Party, Melon Mambo, and Calypso Coral card stocks and adhered with Stampin' Dimensionals. The sentiment, from Messages for Mom was stamped on Daffodil Delight and tucked under the blooms.

Special DEElivery: This card was given to my sister-in-law for her birthday!

Pinterest...

(If you just want to see today's card, scroll all the way down)

ETA: If you have Pinterest and decide to follow me, please leave a comment below. I'd love to follow you too! :)

So, you've heard of Pinterest right? Yes, all the cool kids are doing it. It's so addicting just to stop by and look at people's pin boards, so I thought it might be neat to give it a try.

I actually got an invite about a month ago, but I waited a couple of weeks because at the time, I was still in the midst of my craziness. When I finally tried to set up my account, I came to the realization that you can only sign up with a Facebook or Twitter account. You may recall that I'm a bit internet shy, so I don't have either. But, I finally had to give in and set one up! I opted for Twitter (mostly because I hoped people wouldn't find me) and I found out that you can set up a Twitter account, then set up your Pinterest, unlink your Twitter account and delete it, while still keeping the Pinterest account! So, that's what I did! And that's the story of my brief appearance on Twitter.

Now, back to Pinterest... You can browse other people's boards and pin favorite pics directly to your boards, or instantly pin photos thatt you come across while blog hopping. I have folders and folders of favorite links with great photos, fun ideas, etc. Pinterest makes things so much easier because it provides a visual for all those favorite links. So now when I'm trying to find something that I had saved, I can quickly peek at my various boards (which you can organize into categories) and find the idea without going through my many links.

If you'd like to take a peek at my boards, it might be an interesting way to get to know me a little better. You'll get to see some of the things I like outside the card world. Plus it would be nice to have a few Pinterest friends... :) And, who knows, the world of social networking just might spark my interest. Ha!

Pinterest is where I rounded up all those fabulous treats that you've gotten to see over the course of the week. You might recognize a few goodies in the screen shot above. I love the fact that I can store inspiration ideas all in one easy to retrieve place. I plan to remove images once I've created something using the idea, but for now, I left this past weeks' treats just so you can see them all sitting on one board.

I also created a card for today inspired by another one of my pin boards - this one dedicated to color.

Here's the inspiration photo from Creature Comforts.

Here the the DEEtails:

I interpreted the colors as Apricot Appeal, Calypso Coral and Poppy Parade with a bit of black and white. I loved that fluffy skirt and wanted to keep that feel. I used SU!'s Fabulous Florets stamped in a combination of the colors on coordinating card stock. I adhered them with Stampin' Dimensionals onto some Whisper White cardstock matted with Basic Black. Then I added some Basc Black Taffeta ribbon, layered with some polka dotted ribbon from my stash. I tucked in a tag stamped with the sentiment from SU!'s Great Friend. I added a thick Poppy parade mat and adhered everything to a Calypso Coral card.
