Naki and Nina's Double Dare Challenge 13

Time for another fun challenge with Naki :) Here are this week's picks:

Naki's pick this week was heat embossing

Interestingly, my pick was also to emboss...

So emboss we shall! :) Remember, we make our selections blindly, then share with each other, so you never know what crazy combination we'll pick!

Here are the DEEtails:

I'm loving the simplicity of today's card. Not Quite Navy with a bit of Early Espresso. Mmmm. I started with some DSP and stamped the image from Forever Young in VersaMark ink. This is the first time I've used the Early Espresso embossing powder and I'm loving it. I added the sentiment at the bottom from Thank You Kindly. Then I layered some Early Espresso and Not Quite Navy over some striped Grosgrain ribbon. Love it!

I wonder what Naki created for her embossed card this week... Hop on over to her blog to find out. And don't forget to play along with us!

Pals Paper Arts Sketch Challenge

Hello! It's time again for another Pals Paper Arts Challenge! This week, we have a sketch by Margaret Moody. Won't you play along?!

DEEtails:
My card today showcases the stamped image from Forever Young stamped in Soft Suede on Very Vanilla card stock. I stamped the sentiment from Kindness Matters at the bottom in Midnight Muse, then matted my image with some Soft Suede. To add a little interest, I tucked a Soft Suede Decorative Label under the image. Then I adhered it to my Midnight Muse card decorated with some More Mustard card stock and a strip of Comfort Cafe DSP. Then I added some embellishments with some Beautiful Wings Embosslits and some ribbon.

I hope you'll come play with us at Pals Paper Arts. You can play with any of your favorite brands and products. Just use Margaret's sketch as inspiration and link up! I can't wait to see what you create! :)

Fun and Fresh

The colors of this week's Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge are so fun and fresh! I hope you'll play along!

Here are the DEEtails for my card:

I thought a fun and fresh take on the cuckoo clock image from SU!'s Forever Young might be cute, so I started by stamping in in Island Indigo ink on matching card stock. I set it aside as I layered my background - some Designer Series Paper Patterns in Lucky Limeade with a stamped SU! Woodgrain background in Lucky Limeade, matted on Lucky Limeade card stock. Then, I stamped the setiment from SU!'s retired Hello, You set on some Daffodil Delight card stock, trimmed with some Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punched in Island Indigo. I adhered my clock and embellished it with an Old Olive Designer Button tied up with some white Baker's Twine. Love it!

Don't forget my I {Heart} Ribbon Taffeta Challenge is still going on, so be sure to play along!

Pierced Papillon

Okay, so my butterfly isn't really pierced, but I thought this was a clever title for my post today since this week's challenge over at Pals Paper Arts is Paper Piercing.

Paper Piercing isn't a technique I do often because, well, I'm not that good at it. My holes always end up making uneven lines... Sigh... I love the look though, so I decided to try my hand at it again. I ended up with uneven lines as usual, but thought if I used the paper piercing as a very minor detail in my card it wouldn't be quite as noticed. I hope! :)

Here are the DEEtails:

I started by attempting to pierce a straight line across a piece of Wild Wasabi card stock. To help make my unevenness, I cut a piece of Designer Series Paper Patterns in Soft Suede trimmed with a Dotted Scallop Ribbon punched edge, and wrapped with some Early Espresso Baker's Twine. I stamped the frame image from SU!'s Forever Young in Soft Suede on some Naturals White card stock and attached it to my card with some Stampin' Dimensionals. Then I stamped a butterfly image from SU!'s Hostess Set, Precious Butterflies on a book page in Crumb Cake ink. I cut out four butterflies and stacked them together to make a nice littel 3-dimensional effect in my frame.

Thanks for stopping by today! :)

Don't forget to play along in the current I {Heart} Ribbon challenge using Taffeta Ribbon and enter to win a huge batch of ribbon from my birthday giveaway!

Picture Perfect

Today's card is for this week's Pals Paper Arts Sketch Challenge. Sketch challenges are definitely not one of my strong suites, but I'm pretty pleased with this card. I decided to turn this sketch on its side and angle one of the elements a bit... What do you think?

DEEtails:

I wanted to make a black and white Polaroid type of photo with the image from Forever Young, which I made my focus on this card. I layered some ribbons - Going Gray Striped Grosgrain, Basic Black Taffeta, and Rich Razzleberry Polka Dot Ribbon. Then I added a ruffle flower, which I wrote a tutorial for recently. This time I used some pages from a book and some Rich Razzleberry Designer Series Patterned Paper. I love that little bit of color poking through. Then I tucked in a Rich Razzleberry tag, stamped with the sentiment from Kindness Matters.

Don't forget to enter to win some Ruffle Flowers and be sure to come back tomorrow for some birthday fun! :)

Special DEElivery: This card is for sale in my Etsy store.

Cuckoo for You

We're finally home and I'm back at work today teaching for our summer program. I'm sharing a card today that I whipped up while in Ohio. It didn't photograph too well, so I apologize for it looking so dull. It is a slightly dull card, but not quite as dull as it appears.

This card was inspired by another one of my Pinterest pins - this image is from Betsy White

DEEtails:

I am absolutely in love with SU!'s new In Color, Pool Party. I combined with some Going Gray and a hint of Brushed Gold for this card. The cuckoo clock from SU!'s Forever Young was stamped in Pool Party and embellished with some Designer Buttons and a flower from my stash. Then I trimmed one side of the card stock with some Ruffled Ribbon in Pool Party and a Brushed Gold Scalloped Edge Border. Thanks for peeking in today!

Don't forget to enter my ruffled flower drawing if you haven't already! :)
