Vineland, NJ: Deaf Cat's Time is Up. Please Help!

Pure White and Handsome - Shy and Sweet - Chip needs a rescue or adopter!
Contact CCSPCA_Foster@yahoo.com

We found a temporary foster for Chip to get him out of the shelter, but his time in foster care is running out. Fortunately we have learned a lot more about this man and he has de-stressed out of a cage and is deserving and ready for a more long-term (or hopefully permanent) placement.  Chip is 4 years old and neutered.  He would do well in a quiet home- before he was given up to the shelter, he lived with kids, cats, and dogs.  There are dogs and cats in his foster home, but he hasn't been introduced (the cat is a bit devilish, but they did play through the door- we didn't want to push him too much and the other cat is a bit devilish!).  He is timid and his new family should understand that he will need some time to adjust and a safe place to escape to when he is nervous.  He never hisses or scratches, sometimes he hides under the bed until he feels comfortable.  No wonder- he has been through a lot and he is deaf, so the big world can be intimidating.  He is wonderful with his foster mom; very affectionate and loving.  He loves to snuggle.  He would make a wonderful pet for someone who needs a quiet companion.

We are out of time for Chip. We would love to see him in a forever home (and are running a $25 adoption promotion!) but also would place him with a good rescue.  Please contact CCSPCA_Foster@yahoo.com if you can help!  Thank you and please share.

Philadelphia, PA: Deaf Boxer and Rescuer Need Your Help!

I was involved with remarkable lady, Rosemary, when it came to deaf dogs and I fostered some hearing dogs for her. They all have been placed in a wonderful home. Rosemary is very careful with her screening, which I have participated in and learned from.

The situation here is that Rosemary has several broken vertebrae from the fall and is in a body brace for 3-5 months. All of her dogs were moved to another foster home and/or forever home. Gracie, a deaf boxer, was put in a dog boarding. She deserves to be in a foster home in a real home or better yet, in a forever home with someone qualified. For more information about Rosemary and Gracie and how to help them, please check the links:

Bulloch Co, GA: White German Shepherd Pup Mix Needs Help

To whom it may concern:

I am contacting you on behalf of the Humane Society of Statesboro and Bulloch County. We have a rescue dog (Gypsy) who is deaf and so has been hard for us to place. Also, as we have no fosters who are knowledgeable in training deaf dogs we are at a disadvantage in training her and thus placing her successfully. If you either have room for her in your rescue or advice/help for us in placing her in a forever home successfully we would appreciate the help. She is on our website at statesborohumane.org or you can see her at petfinder.com-zip code 30458 at http://www.petfinder.com/petdetail/22449851. We do appreciate any help with her as she is a sweetheart and very friendly, but seems to be having problems at her foster home due to chewing. I do not know if this is related to her deafness and therefore her need for increased sensory input. I am concerned we are concentrating on her deafness, but this is probably due to our lack of knowledge of this disability. She is completely vetted and spayed.  Thank you for any help you are able to give us.

Loudon, TN: Deaf Cat in Danger and Needs Help!

Below is what the shelter and another person have to say about this cat. Simba has until tomorrow to get out of danger. Please, if there is a cat savvy person who can work with him, do not hesitate to get in touch with the shelter.

Simba is an orange male Tabby, 4 years old and neutered.  The poor boy is deaf and needs a home where he feels safe. He is at a High Kill shelter in Loudon County, TN and scared to death. The staff can't deal with him because he is so frightened. Any help would be greatly appreciated to help this Special Needs kitty find a home.

April said he is so scared that he is growling and trying to bite them and scratch the staff. They are giving him the weekend to try and calm down. I feel that if he doesn't by Monday, they will be putting him down. She didn't say that, but we know the drill. He needs a foster or adoptive home to work with him to calm down. He does not get along with dogs AT ALL. Please send an email to either kimberly.goodson@yahoo.com or loudoncountyfoa@yahoo.com. Time is of essence!

Chillocothe, OH: Aussie Mix Pup Needs a Rescue

Aussie(mix?) puppy that needs to find a rescue. From what I have heard so far, they believe she is deaf because she does not respond to anything, and their Great Dane shows her where to potty outside.

The puppy needs to find a rescue within the next couple of days, they have already said that they have too many dogs already and they cannot keep her, if they cannot find her a place to go by a couple of days, they will take her to the pound. I do not know how old she is or anything, the only things I know of right now is that she is deaf. I have attached two pictures of her. If you do not have any room for her, could you please crosspost her?

Aurora, Colorado: Dachshund Mix Needs a Rescue

Aurora Animal Shelter: 15750 E 32nd Ave, AuroraColorado 80011  (303) 326-8280
This sweet little girl is Olive....she is a blind and deaf chihuahua/doxie mix said to be about a year old.....this is a kill shelter and little Olive does not have much time allotted to live........
Here is what the shelter volunteer said about her:
She is adorable. Friendly, bright. I think perhaps she is more Chihuahua mix than Dachshund mix. She’s a tiny little thing.

Notice: There is a little blind and deaf dog at the Aurora Animal Shelter who needs to go to a rescue. Olive is about one year old. She was born this way and has adapted very well to her challenges.  She appears to be a Dachshund mix.

Sawyer is a Boxer Mix puppy that is deaf.  This puppy will work best in a home with another dog, a secure fenced yard, compassion and patience to train him to understand signs. He is currently at the Jefferson Parish Animal Shelter on the West Bank, on Ames Blvd.  Thank you.

This sweet angel is a return adoption.  His owners discovered that he is deaf and don’t want to deal with it.  He is an adorable boxer mix puppy, already housetrained.  He would make the perfect companion for the right person who would be willing to work with his impairment by training him to learn signals.  He is too cute for words.  Thanks so much.

Stockbridge, GA: English Bulldog Needs a Home

Iceman is a white English Bulldog. He is deaf. Iceman is great with little kids and all different kinds of animals (cats, dogs, reptiles, etc.). He loves women but not too great with men/teenage boys (unless he grows-up with them). Potty trained, loves to follow you around the house, loves to play with empty water bottles, can play rough, is cage aggressive but will go in his crate, and will protect in the home.

Iceman is 4 yrs old. Neutered and up to date on all shots. When I got him from his 3rd owner I wasn't with my husband. Then we decided to get back together. Iceman is not fond of men. Honestly i believe he was abused by a man. I would love for him to go to an all female home. He truly is a great dog and very misunderstood. He protects my little girl and me. He is ok with my husband as long as me and my little girl isn't in the house. Iceman is in Stockbridge, GA. Staying with my mother inlaw. I am in texas, but my best friend, paula, if anyone is interested will take them to see him. Any other question please email me at elisidanielle@yahoo.com

Thank you,
Elise

Ridgely, MD: Cat in Need of a Home

Hi Everyone,

I'm just trying to put out a mass plea for a cat we have here named Squeakers. Poor Squeakers has been here almost a whole year!  He is 12 going on 13 years old and is deaf!  Squeakers was in one of our long runs for ever until room opened up at the Caroline County Detention Center where he's been for the last several months.  He was not doing so great there and was starting to fight with the other cats in the room. It's a small room that they're kept in at the Center.  So because Squeakers was not doing so well, he was brought back to the shelter where we put him back in his long run.  Now he is in the run with other cats and has never had an issue here before he went to the detention center.  We think he may just be starting to show signs of stress and because of this, we are desperately trying to get our boy out.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!  Please let all your friends and rescue contacts know about Squeakers' plight.  He is a wonderful boy who we want to get out of the shelter.  I've enclosed pictures of our boy too for you all!

Baltimore, MD: Pit Bull Needs a Home or Rescue

There is $100 sponsorship offered by Vicki at vbweales@yahoo.com for rescue who takes her.

Name: Grace
DOB: 2/14/10
Age: 23 months
Disability: Deaf
Breed/Weight: White, Pit Bull Terrier, approx. 45 lbs
I have a deaf 15 month old white female Pit Bull terrier that I need to find a home for.
Grace is a very sweet and affectionate pup. She loves belly rubs and to be pet. She is highly energetic & loves to be walked. Grace loves interacting with people and has been socialized with many dogs and cats. With love, consistency, and regimen, Grace has come to understand several commands using basic sign language. Like any puppy, she may give you that look, - “What?! Really?” but always follows through. She enjoys looking out the windows to see what or who is passing by.

Because of her disability, it can be difficult to let her off the leash.  She is looking for someone with patience and a lot of love to give back; and for a home with a lot of space to run her little heart out.

Re: Deaf dog needs new home, foster home, or rescue group
Location: Dallas / Garland, Texas

Several years ago Denali wandered into someone's back yard. His ears had been cut off in an apparent non-medical attempt at ear cropping. It turns out he was deaf as well.
Adoption attempts were unsuccessful, but a foster home was found and this eventually turned into a permanent home. Denali was living the good life with other dogs, cats, and a bunny rabbit. He loved to swim in the pool and jump in the morning shower with his new mom.
However, now he is suffering the unexpected tragedies of human life, including a divorce, unemployment, and a home foreclosure. Sadly, Denali must find a new home, and fast.
Denali did suffer some kind of back injury several years ago and had back/spinal surgery. He seems to have healed fine, but he can't hold it indefinitely, though it is possible this could improve with a change of food (I've seen improvements like this before).
Many of the details are foggy right now. I am still trying to gather all the facts, but don’t want to hold up networking him for a few details. I’ll get more info just as soon as I can.
Denali needs a new home, a foster home, or a rescue group to take him. For any or all of these, standard interview, home check, reference checks, and adoption contract will apply. He will not simply be handed over to someone else, no questions asked.
He is a pittie mix, probaby 5 - 7 yrs old., 70+ lbs, neutered. Good with other animals.
If you can help in any way, please contact me soon adoptadallaspet at yahoo dot com.

Oscar

Oddball Oscar is an adorable deaf little wiener dog of about 9 years old who is desperate to find someone who will love him and understand him, for once! Oscar was surrendered by his owner's son because they could no longer care for him. It's true, Oscar is deaf and does have some cataracts, but that doesn't mean he is ready for the end! Sheesh

This spunky guy has a lot of living to do and love to give. In fact, when you take Oscar for a walk, he trots along like a youngster, leaping up onto steps without a care in the world, ears flapping in the wind like flags. He really likes to go for walks and explore what is around him - typical inquisitive dachshund! Oscar was tested with cats at the shelter and did pretty well, so he could probably live with a kitty if you have one at home. He also did OK with other little dog he met here, but please bring any resident pups you might have at home in with you to meet Oscar so that we can make sure it's a perfect match!

Oscar can be a little fussy over his food bowl, so we recommend feeding him separate. We would also prefer that he go to a home without children (as they might freak him out with his hearing issue and impaired vision). An ideal place for t his guy would be a nice calm home with adults who are pretty relaxed but do enjoy getting outside for some fresh and sight seeing. Does this sound like you or someone you know?

Please share for Oscar or come and meet him today! Must be a 501c3 to pull from this shelter! To inquire about him or visit him, here is the information: 350 East Erie Avenue, Philadelphia PA 19134 and 215 426 6304
