Memphis, TN: Shepherd Mix Heads to Shelter If No Help

Please crosspost. Hopefully, someone will be able to help this dog. She will go to the shelter in a few days, where she will more than likely be killed because she is not highly adoptable and the shelter is forced to make these tough decisions because of our city's overwhelming pet overpopulation.

She was found wandering around Chickasaw Gardens. She is about 3-4 years old, very sweet, and is blind and partially deaf. She has a collar, no tags or chip. She is temporarily at Walnut Grove Animal Hospital in Memphis, TN where she will be able to stay for a few days, thanks to their compassion.

Thomasville, GA: Great Dane Mix Needs to Get Out of Shelter

Know he's 1 year old and is good with other dogs and loves people.  We're thinking he has Great Dane in him because of his head/nose, but he's about 55 pounds, so one of the parents was a smaller dog.
Thomasville, GA Animal Shelter. The contact is Amy advocate4animals@rose.net. GA is a pain in the ass to pull from because of their requirements of Dept of Agriculture License, a GA rescue license etc, but Amy will pull.  She has a transport going to the East Coast next week

Washington, NC: Boxer in Gassing Shelter

Deaf female boxer in GASSING will be killed MONDAY
Anyone who can help this dog, email Crystal at boxerluver4ever@gmail.com and she will get you in touch with the shelter.
Well, bad news!!!  & just like we thought unfortunately! Ghost was brought back to the GASSING shelter!!! (24 hrs later!) Not her fault AGAIN!!
Here's what IBCR's Mary & Denyce had to say: "Ghost is back at the shelter. Nothing she did...the woman who adopted claims her husband did not want her and her Boston Terrier did not like her. Hope we can get Ghost out of there. The place/shelter is on overload and Monday 1/31 looks like it will be a really bad day for all."
Here's what's known:
Female, spayed
    4 years old, deaf,
    Housetrained / Crate trained
    Good with other dogs
    Good with older children -
    Playful and friendly
May be a little 'mouthy' when playing but never bit/nipped
Responds to simple hand motions but not actually 'trained to hand
signals'
The most recent owner only had her for about a year, never took her to a vet. Gave his own "7in1" vaccinations from Tractor Supply. Rabies is out of date. Reason for surrender - he is currentlyworking 14 hr days and no one else at home to care for the dogs. Also turned in a hound/shepherd mix, 3 yrs old, female.

CONTACT INFO:

Location: Catoosa County Animal Shelter, Ringgold, GA

Contact: Darla Proctor, shelter director

Phone: 706-935-2454

This 1-yr-old Aussie mix (?) is in a GA kill shelter and doesn't have much time left. He was adopted out in October but brought back because he has gone blind. They believe he is deaf, too. Neutered. Looks like an Australian Shepherd/Australian Cattle Dog mix.

I think his name is Neptune. That was the file name for the photo, but the email on the dog didn't state his name. He is vetted and neutered. Someone is available to pull and hold this dog until transport can be arranged.

Springfield, MO: Husky Mix's May Be Euthanized Today

This dog was posted last friday:

If you would like to adopt this dog, please call the Humane Society at 417 833 2526

His stray hold is up. He's not doing well in that environment. He can't hear anyone approaching and can barely see so he just stays hanging back, timid and doesn't interact with the public. That's not truly his personality though, it's just that he's stuck in the kennels that he doesn't act like himself. He learned to sit and shake in one day with hand signals so I know he's got an active brain in there!

Frankford, KY: Chihuahua Needs a Home or Rescue

If you want to adopt or rescue this boy, please contact: Jeanine.Sloan@ky.gov
Permission to cross post - no craig's list or freecycle

This little guy was picked up by Animal Control two weeks ago and nobody has claimed him. He is deaf and just skin and bones. The shelter vet checked him. He seems to be a young dog and is tiny, about 2.5 lbs, but is underweight. I brought him home with me for the weekend to give him some freedom from his cage at the shelter.

If you want to adopt or rescue this boy, please contact Jeanine at Jeanine.Sloan@ky.gov

Springfield, MO: Husky Mix's Time is Up

If you can help or have contacts I can make, please reply to Rachel at winterpaws@sbcglobal.net

I'll try to keep this short, but you know how rescue stories are...

I had a client who asked me to find him a Husky back in October. Seemed like I could never find the right one for him. In November, someone found a stray, forlorn, little Husky mix puppy boy in Joplin, MO. Skin and bones and in rough shape. She reached out to me, but we only take purebreds into our program. But after passing along his story and pictures to my client, he decided he wanted the dog and we made an agreement that I would go pick him up and I would act as an intermediary for him to acquire the dog.

I went and picked him up for my client and delivered him. Very quickly I realized that he was not puppy at all, but an adult of about 2-3 yrs - maybe older. To top it off, he's deaf. I could tell that the new owner was not happy with this discovery, but he took him anyway. On 12/22, the owner called to tell me the dog had escaped his back yard. He was ultimately found on 12/29 (he had wandered INTO a Wal-Mart), and was taken to the SW Mo Humane Society, who contacted me because I had posted lost & found ads around. He did not have the collar and tag on that I had provided the new owner. The owner does not want him back (and I'm not sure the guy didn't just let him loose to get rid of him). It shames me that I went against my instincts and that this has happened.

He is sitting in the HS and his stray hold is about up and even though the owner doesn't want him, I cannot in good conscience leave him there without first doing everything I can to help him. We cannot accommodate a long-term foster or a special needs dog right now and I would like to try to find him a special needs rescue if possible or a foster home situation or permanent home.

Being deaf, he is scared to death in the kennels and the shelter manager advises me that he will not make a good adoption candidate because he hangs out in the corner, not being able to hear anything. He doesn't appeal to the general public, even though he is a sweetheart once given the chance to interact. He startles easy, of course, and needs to be taught hand signals. He learned to sit and shake in one day. He has an interesting throaty bark (maybe due to the fact that he can't hear himself?). He's wonderful with the shelter staff that he now knows. He's UTD on shots, heartworm negative and other than being thin with a dull coat, is in relatively good condition. He is not neutered. He's very laid back and easy going and will make an excellent house pet. He IS an escape artist though and needs a watchful eye. I am willing to provide some sponsorship funds to a rescue who can take him and help with transport.

His stray hold is just about up and he's about out of time. I have been advised that due to his needs, he will be one of the first on the euth list should the space be needed. If you can help or have contacts I can make, please reply to
winterpaws@sbcglobal.net or to this post.

Thank you!

Lake Hoptacong, NJ: Cat Urgently Needs Help

Location: Lake Hoptacong, NEW JERSEY. PLEASE EMAIL ALEXANDRA ASAP at alexandraasaro@optonline.net

Beautiful, snow white, 2 year old girl was left behind when her owners moved. Neighbors have been feeding her, but the owner/landlord of the house want her gone immediately and the neighbors cannot help. She is friendly with people she knows, but can be slightly aggressive with strangers, understandably, due to her disability and fear of the unknown. Is there anyone with experience who would be willing to foster/adopt/work with this poor girl until she feels safe and comfortable again?

Thank you,
Alexandra

Contact info: 419-774-5892 by phone or richlandcountydogs@yahoo.com by email. Byno is at Richland County Dog Warden.

Irving, TX: Outdoor Cat Needs a Home

Mr. White - who when the cat first showed up in my neighborhood I named Snow White thinking it was a female. Very people friendly, I was able to pick up and pet. Was busy for a few days and then when I took Mr. White to the vet to get fixed I realized he was a male, hence dropping the Snow part of his name. I have a colony of 12 use-to-be ferals (a few still kinda keep their distance) all fixed and we have a lovely community till Mr. White came along. He doesn't geehaw well with the others. He has also taken to harrassing the cat across the street too, all in a bid for food, which there is plenty of for all .
I found out from my neighbor across the street that Mr. White is stone deaf, he does NOT have blue eyes, hence maybe some of his acting out. I use the Animal Wellness collection of flower essences on all my cats - him included to keep behavior calm and peaceful among the pack. Tho Mr. White is not to hep on taking the drops from me. I feel like he used to be an indoor cat and is very used to and friendly with people, and someone dumped him in the neighborhood. I would love to see him go to someone who wants a single white beautiful cat in their home or out on a farm where he can roam freely and not feel he is in competition with other cats for food. As I said earlier he is fixed and had a rabies shot and flee treatment - the basics that the Feral Friends vets do. Have no idea how old he is - maybe around 3 or 4 years old.

work email - echeckley@hitechelectric.com
cell # 214-802-1134
THANKS - Elaine ~ Irving, Texas
PS - I would be willing to meet someone part way with him to transport him say within a 100 mile radius of the Dallas area, which would have to be on a weekend.
