My Creative Scrapbook - Stamping Ideas!

Hello!  The March Limited Edition Kit has a set of beautiful stamps matching the gorgeous Prima Something Blue collection.  I want to share with you a few fun ways to use your stamps.
For my first example, I  chose " Always" stamp.  I started by using a marker to color only the gorgeous flourish frame around the word only...NOT the word!
I stamped the frame onto the background the paper filling in behind my flowers cluster adding a bit of texture to the cluster.
Here you can see it stamped three times around the flower cluster.

For my second example, I used the canvas banners in the Brads set found in the kit.
I used the both word stamps....This time we will be inking only the words and NOT the outer frames.
The ingenious shape of Ingvild Blooms stamps makes it perfect to color in the word only.
Stamp the word directly onto the banner.
TADA!!
For my third example, I chose a lighter color - Ingvild Bloom's Pastel Pink.
This time I inked the entire stamp and placed it directly onto the photo for a light touch of texture!
A closeup of the stamp on the photo.
Lastly, I used the larger frame stamp in the set.
For this example, I inked only HALF of the fame stamp.   I placed the stamp directly on the background paper.  Once again inking only HALF the fame, I stamped a second time.  As you can see here, I didn't get it exactly lined up but once I add the layers and photo you won't even notice!
Here you can see the banners, photo, and frame!
I would love to see how you use the stamps!

Fairy fun

Today I have a fun little project for you! This is the second reveal using my kit for Shawn Davis Designs featuring the gorgeous fairy papers from Graphic 45, a Maya Road tin, and Maya Road chipboard.

I just love the little fairy kneeling!! Everyone knows a waterfall is a must in the enchanted forest! The waterfall in my background is a photo I took of the waterfall at a park near my home. I fussy cut the leaves from the Pink Paislee papers (also included in the kit) and adhered them at various depths.

I covered each of the chipboard pieces with a coat of Distress paints, then inked some of the cracks for a more distress look. I hand cut each of the fairies and placed them among some leaf branches that I cut using my Cricut Expression and Storybook cartridge.

I love this quote! I printed it on a transparency and glued the transparency to the back of the chipboard. Of course I had to apply a thin layer of stickles to the fairies wings!

Have a super day!  Thanks for stopping by!!

A warm Wednesday!

Another layout today! A little something just for fun!

I love this photo of my son and his girlfriend taken a couple weeks before he left for Japan. I combined the black and white photo with softer colors to let the photo stand out and speak for itself!

I created the embossed butterfly with a Stampin'Up die. I chose white for the flourish feeing subtle would be better.

A hand cut heart and hand "grown" flowers to finish it off!

a scrappy day!!

I finally took a day to just sit and create. What a glorious feeling, to be playing with paper and glue again. It so exhilarating watching bits and pieces come together to form something beautiful…tell me I’m not the only one that gets a rush as ideas collaborate constructing a masterpiece!!

My first layout and card of2011!

As always, click on the photos to enlarge.
Pink Paislee; Bazzill; Coredinations; Spellbinders; Jenni Bowli; Ranger Distress paints, inks and Stickles; My Little Shoebox; American Crafts; Prima; Maya Road; Jillibean Soup; Stampin’Up; Martha Stewart; cardboard

I used Sketchabilities sketch #38 as my inspiration to get the ole wheels turning again. I wanted to jazz up the background cardstock a bit, yet I wanted it to be very subtle so I lightly embossed the corners of Core’dinations cardstock using an embossing folder and my rolling pin; then gently sanded over some of the embossed flowers.
Naturally, I had to alter some embellishments with distress paints, and distress inks!

My first attempt at a rolled felt flower! I am excited with how it turned out. I can see how they could easily turn into another addiction! I’m sure you will see more of them soon! :-)

Changing the pace a little, I created a card to play along with Cardabilities sketch #21.

October Afternoon; Making Memories; Cricut (Create A Critter);Martha Stewart; Stampin’Up; Ranger Stickles; Making Memories

I couldn’t resist adding some texture to my squirrel. It’s those little details that add so much, don’t you think!

Thanks for Stopping by!!

It's a sultry Sunday

It has been so hot and muggy here! Perfect scrapping weather because it is just to hot out for anything else! Sharing with you a couple more design from the June Featured Kit from Life Preservers.

I looove hanging out at the lake, especially as the sun is setting. I captured this moment a few weeks ago. I printed it on textured Bazzill so it looks like canvas. The colors didn’t turn out as vibrant as photo paper would have though. This is such an uplifting quote. I thought it very fitting for scene and I printed it right onto the photo.
The quote reads:
“Shattered glass is full of a thousand different angles, each one picking up a ray of light and shooting it off in a thousand directions. That doesn’t happen with plain glass, such as a jar. The glass must be broken into many pieces. What’s true of shattered glass is true of a broken life. Shattered dreams. A heart full of fissures. Hopes that are splintered. A life that appears to be ruined. But given time and prayer, such a person’s life can shine more rightly than if the brokenness had never happened. When the light of the lord Jesus falls upon a shattered life, that believer’s hopes can be brightened. Only our great God can reach down into what otherwise would be brokenness and produce something beautiful. With him, nothing is wasted. Every broken dream and hurt that hurts can be redeemed by his loving, warm touch. Your life many be shattered by sorrow, pain or sin, but god has in mind a kaleidoscope through which his light can shine more brilliantly.” ~ Joni Eareckson Tada

Next, is a wedding card. The blue background is one of my faves in the kit! I just had to do something elegant with it! :)

lots of fun!

Did you enjoy the holidays?! For the first time in 3 years, I took a week off work!! I am definitely enjoying a much needed break!

I took a little time to play with the Life Preservers May Alternate kit featuring the Sassafras Lass Nerdy Bird line.
A while back, I found this watering can pattern on Splitcoaststampers.com. Isn’t it darling?! Perfect for these fun bright papers!!

Using my Cricut and Walk in my Garden cartridge, I cut flowers and layered them for dimension. I used lots of stickles, Glossy Accents, and pop dots to give the flowers a little extra texture and dimension!

Non kit items: Stampin’ Up marker; eyelet, tag, stickers, and jute , Stickles, Glossy Accents, Shimmerz paint, floral wire

I have also been playing with my June Featured Kit from Life Preservers. It is a wonderful blend of old and new, elegant and fun featuring papers from Scribble Scrabble and 7Gypsies.

The yellow paper is so soft and pretty, I knew right away I need to use it for something elegant. What better what than to highlight these wedding photos of my parents.

The leaves and flowers were cut using the Storybook and Walk in my Garden cartridges with my Cricut.

Non kit items: Creative Charms Vintage Brads; Creative Charms Butterflies; Creative Charms Organza flower; Kaiser pearls; Ranger distress ink; Pink Paislee Artisian Elements; Glimmer Mist; border punches (EK Success, Martha Stewart); floral pearls

As soon as I saw this background paper, I knew it would be perfect for this old (ancient, my kids would say! LOL!!) photo of my siblings and myself. I want to add the date on the left side yet, but I need to double check the correct date with my mom…I am guessing ‘78.

I used lots of pop dots for dimension.

Non kit items: Ranger Distress Ink; Jenny Bowlin button; Kaiser wood flourish; MME journaling cards and title; Maya Road pin; ribbon

What a wonderful crop!! As usual, I didn't get nearly as much accomplished as I had hoped, but I did get something done this time!!

Several to share today, so let's get started!

Back by popular demand! :) I hosted another one hour sketch challenge. As you know, I love to make my own embellishments but since I am a super slow scrapper I had to set that aside if I was going to pull this off in 1 hour! Sketch courtesy of Sassy 'Lil Sketches.

I also completed a couple of the Make 'n Takes as well play along in some awesome games!

I did finish up another layout, but you will have to wait to peek at that one! :)

My DT buddies has so many wonderful challenges. I hope to work on more of them this week! Awesome inspiration!! You can find them here!
