a scrappy day!!

I finally took a day to just sit and create. What a glorious feeling, to be playing with paper and glue again. It so exhilarating watching bits and pieces come together to form something beautiful…tell me I’m not the only one that gets a rush as ideas collaborate constructing a masterpiece!!

My first layout and card of2011!

As always, click on the photos to enlarge.
Pink Paislee; Bazzill; Coredinations; Spellbinders; Jenni Bowli; Ranger Distress paints, inks and Stickles; My Little Shoebox; American Crafts; Prima; Maya Road; Jillibean Soup; Stampin’Up; Martha Stewart; cardboard

I used Sketchabilities sketch #38 as my inspiration to get the ole wheels turning again. I wanted to jazz up the background cardstock a bit, yet I wanted it to be very subtle so I lightly embossed the corners of Core’dinations cardstock using an embossing folder and my rolling pin; then gently sanded over some of the embossed flowers.
Naturally, I had to alter some embellishments with distress paints, and distress inks!

My first attempt at a rolled felt flower! I am excited with how it turned out. I can see how they could easily turn into another addiction! I’m sure you will see more of them soon! :-)

Changing the pace a little, I created a card to play along with Cardabilities sketch #21.

October Afternoon; Making Memories; Cricut (Create A Critter);Martha Stewart; Stampin’Up; Ranger Stickles; Making Memories

I couldn’t resist adding some texture to my squirrel. It’s those little details that add so much, don’t you think!

Pink Goodness

Such a busy time of the year! Between holiday preparations, working on final bookwork for taxes, attending my son's basketball games, and working on a couple secret projects, I did manage to squeeze out a couple of baby cards!

I used a mixture of Pink Paislee Love Stuck and Sweetness….How appropriate for a little girl!

I am addicted to all my Spellbinders dies. Isn’t that Lacy Circle just too precious?! I cut my dies with Core’dinations cardstock and sanded the edges, then attached with pop dots.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a super scrappy day!

Holiday Card

Here we are at the end of another month…unbelievable!!

It is my turn for the weekly challenge at LPSC. I decided it is about time to get a jump start on some holiday cards. I created this one using the October Afternoon papers in the Life Preservers Scrapbook Club August Alternate Kit. The reds and greens in these papers are perfect for a holiday card, I covered the snowflakes with the music paper, and the lacy trim in the kit was a beautiful way to finish it off!

I had fun experimenting with some Bazzill chipboard snowflakes I had on hand. A bit of Distress inks, Distress Picket Fence and Rock Candy Crackle paints, and a dash of glitter…whhhaa la!!

Thanks for stopping by!

September already?!

Hello!! August was a crazy month , bogged down by allergies to boot!
I am not ready for the summer to end, but I am definitely ready for the heat and humidity to go away! One of the advantages of summer coming to an end is Fall! I love fall! Gorgeous colors radiate everywhere. Perfect temperatures where you can get outside and enjoy the beautiful transformations taking place. Another of my fall favorites is football! My son has decided to play this year. In the past, he has chosen harvest over playing on the team…a true farm boy! Football photos to come, guaranteed!

Speaking of my son, today is his 17th birthday. Raising kids is one of the greatest gifts god has given us. So many beautiful moments, as well as challenging ones that make us all grow. As time passes, all those birthdays become bittersweet. I love to see him change and become a young man, but how I wish I could hug and snuggle the little guy he used to be.
Happy 17th Birthday Drew!!

I know several of you are planning some scrappy time this long weekend. How about checking out the challenge over at Dirty Scraps. Scrappy Jo’s has donated an awesome prize! The DT has some incredible examples to share…go take a peek! Dirty Scraps

And finally, I have finished my first project with my Life Preservers Scrapbook Kit Club August Kit. Yes, this a grainy old photo of myself! Aren’t I adorable? He he I love the Vintage feel of these October Afternoon patterns. I added a bit of black behind everything to really make those patterns pop. I added a dot of Stickles in the center of the X’s on the background paper, and added dimension by placing the little quote on my Helmar pop dots. Click on the photo to enlarge for a better view.

Of course I have to have my accessories, but I didn’t want to hide the pattern paper so I dug out some of my Heidi Swapp Ghost Shape Flowers. I double layered the flowers with a thin pop dot between the layers for dimension. I curled the edges of the flowers with my fingers, and added a thin line of stickles down the center of the petals of the top layer. Then, attached the assembled flower with my Helmar pop dots.

Ingredients: Life Preservers Scrapbook Kit Club August Alternate Kit; black cardstock; Heidi Swapp ghost shapes; Ranger Stickles; buttons; hemp; Jenny Bowlin pin; jewels

Have a fun and safe long weekend! Stop back next week when reveal a couple new challenges!

What a wonderful crop!! As usual, I didn't get nearly as much accomplished as I had hoped, but I did get something done this time!!

Several to share today, so let's get started!

An old time favorite, a lift challenge to get the mojo going! I combined two lovely layout's I found in the Life Preservers gallery to create this one , one by Laura Lee and the other by Wanita! Thanks for the inspiration, ladies!!

Back by popular demand! :) I hosted another one hour sketch challenge. As you know, I love to make my own embellishments but since I am a super slow scrapper I had to set that aside if I was going to pull this off in 1 hour! Sketch courtesy of Sassy 'Lil Sketches.

I started Friday evening off with working on the earlybird sketch challenge.

I also completed a couple of the Make 'n Takes as well play along in some awesome games!

I did finish up another layout, but you will have to wait to peek at that one! :)

My DT buddies has so many wonderful challenges. I hope to work on more of them this week! Awesome inspiration!! You can find them here!

One more day to get your ScrapFit challenge posted!! New challenge coming tomorrow!

Here it is….my final reveal for Life Preservers April Alternate kit!

Using my cricut and Storybook cartridge, I cut the flowers from the gold cardstock (in kit). I used Distress inks to do some shading, and add a bit of color. With a spritz of Glimmer Mist, I added a bit of shimmer. Once the mist had dried, I gave the flowers a bit of texture by embossing them with my cuttlebug. Lastly, I added some stickles (in kit) and pearls.

non kit items:distress ink, distress paint, thickers, pearls, cardboard, floss, rubon, brads, bling circle, button

Check out my journaling strips?! Yep! I didn’t even notice until I was posting the photo! Although, it probably suits us best left this way!! :)

I created this for the challenge of the week. Why don't you come on over and play!!

Thanks for stopping by!

ScrapFit Challenge #16

ScrapFit Challenge #16!

Time for Kelly’s “March Madness” Recipe Challenge
4 Circles (basketballs biggest month/ the final 4)
Multiple fonts (like all the teams have different names/logo’s)
2 pictures (because it comes down to the final game between KY and someone) Distressing (like the way all the teams will feel when they get beat by Kentucky).

I combine all of these elements onto my layouts all the time, but when someone challenges me to to do so, it suddenly becomes a struggle! Out of the blue, I became trapped….stuck…I fought to get things to come together. What’s up with that?! It really is a magnificent challenge. I was just over thinking it! Once I decided to just let go, things fell into place and I really had fun with it.

The prize for this challenge is another awesome kit by Life Preservers Kit Club!! Wohoo!! Vons kits are over flowing with scrappy goodness!!!

Next weekend the Design Team at ScrapFit will be "Springing in to Action!" We will be hosting a blog hop March 19th -21st! Hop on over and join us!! Lots of eye candy, prizes, and great inspiration!!

Happy Saturday, everyone!

The Crop at Life Preservers is in full swing!! Wohoo, I've definately been having a Latte fun!! I've got a bit of scrappy goodness to share with you today, so let's get down to business!!

But first, before I get into my goodies from the crop, I want to share with you my layout for the Scrap Bachelor Contest for week 3! We were to do a layout about music in our life. I used a sketch from Sassy Lil' Sketches for my inspiration.

Now, here are a few of the things I put together for the crop.

Newly posted, is my Build a Snowman Challenge!

I used my snowman to create a Valentine card for my son.

I hosted a 1 hour sketch contest using a super fun sketch from the ladies at Creative Scrappers!

Here is my version

I will be hosting another 1 hour sketch contest Sunday at 1:00pm Central. I would love to see you there!

Next is a Winter 2010 Color Combo challenge.

My example

That's it for today! Now, I am headed back to the crop to complete some of the other fun challenges and super cute make n' takes!! Stop back tomorrow and see what I was able to complete! Or, better yet, meet me there!!

Monday, October 26, 2009

What an awesome weekend!! We had so much fun at the Life Preservers crop!! It’s not to late to check out all the great challenges and make N takes! Incredible inspiration there!! We have until Nov 1st to get them finished and posted!! I am so glad for the extension! I was having to much fun to accomplish very much! I did manage to get one challenge and one make N take finished. I am hoping to get several more completed throughout the week. We’ll see…the school just sent Drew home with a fever. Cross your fingers that he doesn’t get to sick, and that I don’t get it!!

I created this for Krista's Bingo Challenge. I used 10 or more buttons, staples, torn paper, and a stamped image.

I also finished Rhonda's Mini album Make N Take. I am going to slip this into Drew's stocking for Christmas. Naaa, I'm not to worried about him coming here and seeing it! I decided not to post photos of the pages this time. It is about a big hunting trip, and I didn't want to offend anyone with the contents.

been busy!

I’m back!! For the past few weeks, I have felt in a bit of a scrappy slump. Thanks to Von and my October Life Preservers kit, I am feeling creative again!! Wohoo! Von's kits are always just the pick-me-up I need!
I tried and tried to come up with ideas for the Maya Road Sheer House mini album in the project kit. Beings the farm girl that I am, it kept screaming “barn” at me, soooo barn it is!! Take a gander and let me know what you think!!
*don't forget, you can click on the photos to enlarge them*

I tried to stick with just the Pink Paisly papers and punchouts from the kit as closely as possible. To create the trim on the barn, I cut stips from the excess on the punchout page. For the cow, I cut the white body parts from the punchouts!

glub glub, gasping for air!

Wow! What a wild and crazy scrappy week it’s been! Talk about tension and pressure!! The final layout for the TS contest is due today! Tomorrow is the deadline for the LP Design team call. AND our challenge for the LP contest this week is to scap all we can for points!! I still need to post last weeks BSH layout but I want to make a couple alterations so it won’t happen until later in the week!

Here is my final lo for the Treasured Scrapbooking contest!

One photo
Orange - button, ink, flowers
Green - button, ink, pp (leaves)
Two different alpha in title
5 buttons exactly
Ticket
“if I could change one thing about myself…”

Journaling reads:
Lord, when I look at my reflection in the mirror, I see so many flaws. What I lack in height, I more than make up for around my middle. My face is too round, and my hair too shaggy. The more age becomes apparent, the longer my list grows. The deeper I look into my heart and soul, the more imperfections I wish I would outgrow. I sometimes have difficulty remembering that You created me as I am, a 100% unique design. There are so many things that I don’t like about me. I struggle with who I am as a person. You loved me even before I was born. You
gave me certain qualities so that I may serve a specific purpose. If I could change one thing about myself, I would have a hard time passing the opportunity. But those modifications would alter the person who you intended me to be. Help me accept myself, and to grow to see myself as the shining masterpiece as seen through your eyes. I struggle with remembering that I am important. Even the sparrow is cared for under your watchful eye.

“Why should I feel discouraged. Why should the shadows come. Why
should my heart feel lonely. And long for heaven and home. When Jesus
is my portion. A constant friend is He . His eye is on the sparrow. And I
know He watches over me. His eye is on the sparrow. And I know He
watches me. I sing because I'm happy. I sing because I'm free. His eye is on
the sparrow. And I know He watches me (He watches me). His eye is on the
sparrow. And I know He watches. I know He watches. I know He watches me.”

All papers and elements were inked and distressed.

To create the orange flowers, I cut scalloped circles then snipped petals. I lightly brushed on orange distress ink, gradually getting heavier on the ends in some areas. I finished by lightly brushing on hot pink ink, adding a flower and brad.

The denim flower - I cut denim from Dh’s old pants into circles. I cut a smaller circle of lace, then added a flower and button.

The branch was cut from cardboard. I then glued on the burlap. I frayed the edges and inked with distress ink.

The bird is grunge board covered with corduroy. Again, I frayed the edges. I added a pearl for the eye, and a bit of trim for the wing.

I hand wrote the tag and inked.

The leaves -I stamped two types of leaves onto pattern paper then cut them out and inked. The other type was cut from cardstock and pattern paper using the cricut. I then inked those also, finishing with the emboss folder

I strung the beads by hand onto wire so that I could pose them how I wanted them.

I embossed the heart on the journaling tab

Thank you for your support, and best wishes! Keep your fingers crossed for me!! It could be a couple looooong days before they post the winner!!
