Thank You Phindy
Today is a sad and happy post all in one. Sadly I have to tell you all that this is the last post I will be doing for Phindy's Friday challenge blog. The challenge blog is closing as Phindy is dealing with family matters that need her time.
All of us on the Design Team have created Thank You cards for Phindy and this is the one I am going to send her. This week there will not be a challenge but if you would like to make a Thank You card for Phindy, there will be a link for you to enter it. This is Just For Fun and there are no prizes. We would love it if you could also post a comment for her, even if you don't get a card made.
Now the happy part - I am happy to say that I have enjoyed my time on Phindy's Design Team because she is absolutely the most wonderful, generous and supportive person along with being an incredibly talented artist. Over the past two years, I am happy to have gotten to know and been inspired by other lovely crafters who have also served on her Design Team. I am also happy that I have had the pleasure of getting to know Anne Ray, who is our DT Leader and we have met in person and will be doing so again in September when I go to England on vacation. I am also happy to have gotten to know a few ladies through Phindy's Papercraft Planet group, which was my very first group, and while I haven't had a lot of time lately to chat, I have cherished to forum that Phindy has provided.
So, as you can see there are many more happy thoughts in this post than sad ones because there are lots of wonderful memories associated with Phindy's Place.

Summer Heat
Like me, if you are living in an area where the weather is super hot, then you know that this is what will happen to an ice cream cone if try to eat it outside. It sure won't take long to start melting and little people can't lick it fast enough to prevent it from running down their arms. I bet you remember that happening to you - I sure do.
The challenge this week at Phindy's Friday challenge blog is to create a card with buttons. You don't have to use a Phindy image to enter but when you do, you get two entries. Since there are lovely prizes up for grabs and Phindy has such lovely images there are many good reasons to use one.
I am going to enter this card with its hot, hot colours in the following challenges.
Crafting For All Seasons - Ice Cream/Popsicle
Divas by Design - Anything Goes
Papercraft Star - Ice Cream
The Paper Shelter - Anything Goes
Tuesday Alchemy - Buttons
Digi Doodle Shop Challenges - Anything Goes

Think Initials
I bet that title has you wondering - it is a fun new challenge at Phindy's Place Friday challenge blog. This challenge is all about using something on your card that relates to your initials. So since my initials are CW, I have used cork and wood on my card. Let's see what you can come up with and if your initials are XZ then you have my sympathies.
Now for some important news about the challenges at Phindy's Place - starting with this challenge we are going to challenges every two weeks, which means you have lots of time to get a card finished and entered. Phindy will still be providing one random winner with a $5 gift certificate to her store and the Card of the Week (I guess we will have to rename that Top Pick) creator will also receive a $5 gift certificate and will be in the running for a monthly Guest Designer spot.
I am going to enter this card in the following challenges:

Digital Tuesday - Kids
Papertake Weekly - Anything Goes
Sassy Cheryl's - Anything Goes

Could I Have This Dance
I am from Canada and so is the wonderful singer, Anne Murray (she now lives about 40 minutes away). In the beginning, she sang mostly country styled songs but also had some pop hits. She won four Grammy awards over the years and one was for the song Could I Have This Dance. That is the title of my card and the inspiration for my card for the challenge this week at Phindy's Friday challenge blog. This week we want you to make cards INSPIRED BY A SONG OR MOVIE.
You don't have to use a Phindy image to enter but you get two entries if you do and there are always two prizes offered. Phindy has lots of wonderful images in her store so if you don't have any, I encourage you to pop over and pick some up and then show what you can create and tell us which song or move inspired that creation.
I am going to enter this card in the following challenges:
Bearly Mine - Anything Goes
Jackson's Digital Expressions - Anything Goes

Messy Baby
I'm back from my vacation, my guests have flown back to England, the house is clean and my normal routine has returned even if my mojo hasn't. We did lots of sightseeing in Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal and Kingston and I saw things I had never seen before so it was fun for me too.
We have been having horrible heat and our guests struggled with that but otherwise they said they had a good time. Now we are planning to visit them in September and during that time the four of us are going to Rome for a few days.
Our challenge to you this week at Phindy's Place challenge blog is to make a card with GINGHAMS OR PLAIDS. You don't have to use a Phindy image but if you do, you get to enter twice.
I used soft ginghams on my card but I had a terrible time getting a good photo. If I brightened everything up, there was no definition on the charm so you have to settle for a little dull photo. It is quite pretty in real life. The wonderful image from Phindy is paired with some equally wonderful word art from Paulette at Create with TLC - another of their great collaborations.
I am going to enter this card in the following challenges:
Crafty Creations - Baby
Ooh La La Creations - Baby, Baby
Delightful Challenges - Anything Goes
Shelly's Images - Anything Goes
Southern Girls - Oh Baby, Baby
Image: Messy Meal (Phindy's Place)
Sentiment: Create with TLC
Card Stock: White (Staples), Green (Recollections)
Papers: Green (Provo Craft), Gingham (American Traditional Designs)
Colouring Medium: Pencil Crayons (Prismacolors) with OMS (Gotrick)
Tools & Embellishments: Pearl Stickers (Recollections), Ribbon (Kate's Paperie), Rose (Wild Orchid Crafts), Charm (My Stash), Circle Punches (EK Paper Shapers)

A Beach Day
This week the challenge at Phindy's Friday challenge blog is called BEACH BABIES. This image is perfect for this challenge because this little guy is at the beach with his Daddy. It will be fun if Daddy lets him roll up his pants and go wading too.
We will be selecting one random winner who will receive a $5 gift certificate to Phindy's store and the Design Team will also choose one entry as Card of the Week. The creator of that card will also receive a $5 gift certificate to Phindy's store and will be in the running for one of our monthly Guest Designer spots. You don't have to use a Phindy's image to participate but when you do you get to enter it twice and that means more chances to win the wonderful prizes - more Phindy images.
I am just finishing up our week away as this posts. We are in Montreal and later this afternoon we are going to see Amaluna, which is the newest Cirque de Soleil show. Tomorrow we drive back to Toronto and our road trip will be over. Sadly our visitors are leaving on Tuesday and I can't believe how fast the two weeks have flown by.

Relaxing Dad
The challenge this week at Phindy's Friday challenge blog is to make a FATHER'S DAY card. I think I will give this card to my Grandchildren to give to their Daddy. He needs to relax after all the woodworking he has been doing. When I took my Grandson home the other day he wanted to show me the toy box his Daddy made for the back yard toys. It looks great and doubles as a bench. The kids also have a large sandbox to play in so I think Daddy has become a hero.
You don't have to use a Phindy image but if you do you can enter it twice for more chances to win the wonderful prizes. If you don't have any Phindy images, just head over to her store and pick up a few of her fabulous images.
We have friends visiting from England and today we are going into Toronto to take in the Picasso exhibit at the Art Gallery. We will be travelling over the next week to Niagara Falls, Ottawa and Montreal to give them a taste of this part of Canada since it is their first time in this area. We will arrive back in time for Father's Day and I think a nice relaxing day is on order for all of us. Since I had to cook on Mother's Day, I am planning a BBQ for Father's Day and that would be my husband's job. Sounds right to me :)

Has Anyone Seen My Groom?
The challenge this week at Phindy's Friday challenge blog is PILE IT ON, which is the opposite of Clean and Simple so we want to see lots of layers and embellishments.
I have used one of Phindy's Wee Babbies called Babbie Bride and she looks like she has raided Mommy's closet. Now all she needs is a Groom.
You don't have to use a Phindy image to enter but if you do you get two entries and there are great prizes up for grabs so dig out your Phindy images or pop over to her store and buy some new ones.

Mr. Brown's Hobby
My Son-in-Law has recently gotten into woodworking so this image of Mr. Brown from Phindy's Place is perfect for a card for his upcoming birthday, especially since the first thing he made was a bird house.
The challenge this week at Phindy's Place challenge blog is a 1, 2, 3 Recipe challenge - 1 image, 2 designer papers and 3 embellishments.
You don't have to use a Phindy image but with so many fabulous ones in her store and a chance to enter twice if you do, why wouldn't you?
I did get my husband to go through the closets and get rid of some of the clothes he hasn't worn in ages and then I did the same. On top of that, I went through all the drawers, the bathrooms and storage closet and boy have I ever purged. There are 7 large green garbage bags ready to go to Goodwill and 2 for the garbage. My back is killing me but I feel super satisfied with all I have accomplished this week. I still have a few things to wear but I will really have to do some shopping - oh woe is me!
I am going to enter this card in the following challenges:
Penny's Paper Crafty - Anything Goes

Summer is Coming
We have had some pretty whacky weather this year where I live but the calendar says that summer is coming so I am hanging my hat on that and have done my annual planting. The temps have ranged from 24C to 15C over the past few days. But since they say it is climbing again over the next few days, I don't think I made a mistake. Besides this is a long weekend and the one where you traditionally plant in my neck of the woods.
The challenge over at Phindy's Place this week is called SUMMER IS COMING so we want to see your summery cards. You don't have to use a Phindy image but you get two entries if you do. Who wouldn't want to use a Phindy image when they are this adorable?
I am going to enter this card in the following challenges:
The Sisterhood of Crafters - May Flowers
Truly Scrumptious - Anything Goes
Whimsy Inspiration - Anything Goes
Crafter's Companion - Here Comes Summer
I Brake for Challenges - Flowers
Die Cuttin Divas - Flowers (must use a die cut)

It's Christmas In May
Your eyes aren't playing tricks on you - it really is Christmas in May. Or at least, that is what it is at Phindy's Place challenge blog this week. We want you to make CHRISTMAS cards this week and what a great excuse that is to get a head start on your holiday cards. I think I have at least 6 made so far but if I don't keep at it, I will end up short when it is time to get them in the mail.
You don't have to use a Phindy image but if you do you can enter twice. There are lots of great Christmas-themed images in her store so if you don't have one, just pop over and pick some up.
I dug into my scrap box to make this card and love how all these bits and pieces came together. I have two boxes, one for patterned paper and one for card stock scraps and they are starting to get pretty full so I must endeavor to go there first and not to cut into a new piece unless it is absolutely necessary.
I am going to enter this card in the following challenges:
The Paper Shelter - Anything Goes
Waste Not Wednesday - Use Your Forgotten Stuff (the papers)
Shopping Our Stash - Use 3 or more Designer Papers

Vintage with Phindy
The challenge this week at Phindy's Place challenge blog is to create a VINTAGE card.
I decided to make a tag but it is added to the front of a card so there is somewhere to write a message. It is a much different shape and size than I usually do - the tag is 3.5" x 7" and the card is 3" x 6" - but it will fit in a business sized envelope so it won't cost anything extra to mail.
I had a devil of a time taking a photo of it and then when I went to upload it, I discovered that the flap of the little vellum envelope has fallen down and is covering part of the sentiment, which is "Sending Love and Kisses" but taking more photos was not happening.
You don't have to use a Phindy image on your Vintage card but if you do, you can enter it twice, which means more chances to win the wonderful prizes. If you want to use a Phindy image but don't have any, go directly to her store and pick some up. There are lots of great images, including some fabulous new ones.
I don't know what the weather is like where you live but where I am, it is just plain weird and has been for months. One day we are wearing warm and fuzzy clothing and the next day, like today, we are wearing shorts. As a result the barometric pressure is going up and down like a yo-yo and today it is doing a tap dance on my head as I type this. I sure wish it would just be consistent.
I am going to enter this card in the following challenges:
My Mum's Craft Shop - Embossing
Truly Scrumptious - Distressing and Die Cuts/Punches
Craft Room - Emboss It
Papertake Weekly - Anything Goes
Creative Mondays - Anything Goes

Really Clean and Simple
The challenge this week at Phindy's Place Challenge Blog is to make a CLEAN AND SIMPLE card. We want you to make a card with lots of white space and minimal embellishments.
You would think that making this kind of card would be easy with not much thinking required but I actually found it harder to make and I really found it hard to photograph all that white. I leaned it against a piece of black fleece so the edges would show and now it looks like a single sheet and not a card but trust me it is a 5" x 5" card.
One good thing about this kind of card is that it doesn't cost much to make and won't require any extra postage when I go to mail it. The image and sentiment are printed right on the card base so the only added layers are the die cut frame and the bursts, if that is what they are called (they don't look like flowers to me) with buttons.
You don't have to use a Phindy image on your clean and simple card but if you do, follow the instructions on the sidebar to enter it twice for double the chances to win the lovely prizes that Phindy offers. One random winner will receive a $5 gift certificate to her store and the Design Team will select one card as Card of the Week. That creator will also receive a $5 gift certificate and will be in the running for a monthly Guest Designer spot.
I am going to enter this card in the following challenges:
Fab 'n' Funky - No DP
Paper Pretties - Clean and Simple
Inky Impressions - Anything Goes
Simon Says Stamp - Anything Goes
Lexi's Creations - Use your punches and dies
Love to Create Challenge - Anything Goes

Stitches and Squares
This week the challenge at Phindy's Friday Challenge Blog is called STITCHES AND SQUARES. Your card must feature a square card/shape AND sewing (real or faux).
I haven't mastered the art of machine sewing on a card so I have done a little hand stitching in each corner of the card. I have made my usual 5"x5" card base and transformed it into another Christmas card. I think I already have about 3 or 4 cards made. Maybe, just maybe, I will have them all done in plenty of time this year and not be scrambling at the last minute as I have done every other year. I know, wishful thinking.
I am going to enter this card in the following challenges:
Crafty Sentiments - Use a Digi
Papertake Weekly - Stitching
Craft Your Passion - Die Cuts and Punches
Paper Sundaes - Anything Goes
Image: Hot Cocoa (Phindy's Place)
Sentiment: Create with TLC

Par-Tee Animal
This week the challenge at Phindy's Friday Challenge Blog is called WHAT'S COOKING. We want you to create cards or other paper-crafted projects that feature food or drink.
You don't have to use a Phindy's image this week but if you do just follow the instructions on the sidebar and enter a second time. Phindy has lots of great images in her store so if you don't have any I encourage you to go there immediately and pick up a few.
I made a simple card this week but one with a fabulous image. Cocktails are so popular and it looks like even this little mouse is into the action - in a big way. This looks like much more fun than running on a wheel for entertainment. Personally, the adult beverages that make me a happy camper are a nice glass of red wine or better still a really good single malt scotch (on the rocks).
I am going to enter this card in the following challenges:
Try It On Tuesday - Pampered Pets
Bunny Zoe's Crafts - Ribbon or Twine
Critter Sketch - Critters
Digi Makeover - Bright Colours
There She Goes - Ribbon Time
One Stitch at a Time - Use a Digi

Phindy's 100th Challenge & Blog Hop
Today is such a special day at Phindy's Place. We are having our 100th Challenge and are going to celebrate with a little blog hop. The challenge this week is ANYTHING GOES WITH A PHINDY'S IMAGE. You can create any kind of card or other paper-crafted project as long as you use a Phindy image.
If you don't have a Phindy image there are lots of fabulous images in her store, including some sweet new spring and Easter images so pop over and pick up a few so you can enter.
We are also having a little blog hop this week and you will want to take a look around because there might be some candy offered along the way. I do know that there is candy up for grabs at Phindy's Place and all you need to do win that is to enter the challenge following the challenge theme and leave a comment at the challenge blog and every step along the way. One random winner chosen from the entries will receive the candy. The candy winner will be posted on Friday, April 13th. We will also choose our weekly random winner and our Card of the Week winner from the entries.
I am offering a little candy for one commenter on my card for the 100th challenge. You can comment up to Friday, April 13th at 9:30 am GMT after which time one random winner will be selected and the winner posted.
To leave a little love for the other designers the order of the hop is:
Anne Ray (DT Leader)
Cec Wintonyk (DT Coordinator) (You Are Here)
Ann English
Catherine Ward
Kathy Curry
Linda Payne
Marlena Peduzzi
The daffodils are starting to bloom here despite the whacky weather we have been experiencing. Since it is supposed to be spring, I thought I would use this adorable fairy image on my card and to emphasize the daffodil, I popped it up with a dimensional. Sweet Birthday Card
It is Saturday and that means a new challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow. This week we want you to make vintage, shabby chic or primitive BIRTHDAY CARDS. I am not sure which style my card is so I will call it a cross between vintage and shabby chic. What I do know is that it has a great retro image from our sponsor this week, Phindy's Place.
Phindy is going to provide one random winner with a digi of their choice from her store. The random winner will also get a winner's badge. The Design Team will choose their Top Pick and that creator will also get a badge to display and will be in the running for the monthly Guest Designer spot.

Easter Bunny
Our challenge this week at Phindy's Friday Challenge Blog is RIBBONS. We want you to make cards or other paper-crafted projects with ribbons and/or ribbon bows.
Since Easter is only a hop, skip and jump away I thought I better start making some cards for my Grandchildren. This little bunny cuddling her favourite toy is adorable and I love the striped grosgrain ribbon to go with her that I found in the $1 bin at Michaels.
The flowers are bright in real life but the photo makes them look even brighter and edit as I might, I could not calm it down. Question for Husband: Where is that light tent you promised me for Christmas?
You don't have to use a Phindy image to participate but if you do, you will get 2 entries and we have two great prizes. If you don't have any Phindy images just pop over to her store and pick up a few. There are lots of new images that would be great for your Easter cards.

Multi Tasking Mom
This week our challenge over at Phindy's Friday Challenges is called ANIMAL PLANET. We want to see an animal on your card or other paper-crafted project.
I thought this image was such fun because Moms have way too much to do, even animal Moms. You don't have to use a Phindy image in your project but I encourage you to because you get two entries if you do. If you don't have one of Phindy's animal images, pop over to her store because she has lots there to choose from.
One random winner will receive a $5 gift certificate to Phindy's store. The Design Team will select one project as Card of the Week with the creator also receiving a $5 gift certificate and getting a chance at being a monthly Guest Designer.
