When I saw that the shop had put this XL die in the sale I was amazed. (It seems that Sizzix have now discontinued this item so if you want it, grab it quick!) If you make items for charity, want REALLY quick and simple but very effective favour bags for a wedding, or just want to have a useful gift bag die that you can reach out for at any time, then THIS is a staple die for your stash! Even better, it's almost half price in the sale so what are you waiting for?
Start with a 12" x 12" sheet and cut it in half to 12" x 6", place on the die and cut - there are just 2 simple shapes to make up - child's play! This is why it makes a fabulous die for making favour bags, the last thing you want if you've 100s to make is fiddley, faffy pieces. Because it's a 'Scoreboards' die, it scores the creases for you too, all you have to do is fold them and you're ready to glue:
Folded, glued with Multi Medium Matte, done in about a minute:
You can decorate your bags however you like - I've decided on some simple stamping and using corners and pre-made roses for decoration. I cut 2 pieces of blue card for stamping on and 2 pieces of white for the mats. Spellbinders have a set of corners called Imperial Gold Collection - Gold Corners One, so useful, I often reach for them:
Stamped, layered, glued, with the corners and roses added:
You could actually make a flap for this bag if you wanted to and create a box instead but I'm still thinking favour bags so I've used a small round handheld paper punch to punch a hole either side for ribbon. Just thread the ribbon through each side and knot it (surgeon's knot) on the inside then add some plain white tissue paper:
You can make this into a bag for ANY occasion - stamp it, add die cuts or pre-made embellishments - whatever you do it will be personal to you and the person you're making it for.
Have I convinced you? It's certainly a 'must have' in my die cupboard!
Thanks for stopping by and joining us today. Jennie is posting next, on Wednesday, so be sure to pop back and take a look!
Have a great week,
