My Delicate Blooms

Good morning everyone! I thought I would share a bit of sunshine today with this scrapbook layout of some of the clematis which grow in my polytunnel.  Living so far north they won't grow outside, but do very well under plastic and I really enjoy sitting beside them with a cup of coffee and just enjoying their wonderful colours.  Many of you probably grow them quite easily, but for us they are a delicate bloom!

I really enjoy making my own sprays from Distress Ink Re-inkers and for this layout I mixed some Victorian Velvet with Perfect Pearls in a Ranger mini mister.  I like these as you can mix just a small amount and as it has a very fine nozzle  results in a more delicate touch!

Once the misting has dried I undo the mister bottle and use the nozzle bit inside to drop small droplets of spray over the top. It is a bit hit and miss but you can always make it lighter by rolling kitchen towel over it immediately to take some of the colour away.

I layered my sprayed card stock onto a larger piece of 12 x 12 having first cut out a border - this allows use of the rest of the paper for flowers giving a more coherent look.

I have used the Tattered Florals die to make the spiky flower, just two layers and made a rolled flower (tutorial on my blog HERE) for the centre.  The smaller flowers were made with Donna Salazar's Bitty Blossoms Die - again one of my favourites.  I am also enjoying the new Garden Greens and Spring Greenery dies and the beauty of the Garden Greens is that it cuts thick card really well and all it needed was a coat of Picket Fence Distress Crackle.

Lastly I stamped some butterflies using Victorian Velvet and Dusty Concord Distress Inks and added a few more vintage items to complete the cluster.

Thank you for joining me today and I hope the sun is shining wherever you are!

Into every life.....

.....a little rain must fall. I love this quote stamp by Sheena Douglass and thought it would go perfectly with the Tim Holtz Umbrella Man die.

Started out by cutting myself a tag, didn't have a large enough tag die for what I wanted so hand cut this one. Then using cut 'n' dry I applied Shaded Lilac, Peacock Feathers, Dusty Concord and a little Faded Jeans Distress ink.  Made sure there was a reasonable amount of ink on the tag and then spritzed it well with water. Then I dried it off and sprayed a little Perfect Pearls Mist in turquoise onto my craft sheet and with a bit of sponge, dabbed it randomly over the surface.......gives a lovely mottled and shimmery background.

I stamped the sentiment onto a piece of blue card and then lightly edged it with Black Soot distress ink. I cut the man out of a piece of black card and then simply assembled the tag gluing everything into place. The little leaves that I added at the end I found hanging about in the bottom of my box, sorry but can't remember which die I used! To finish off I added some 'raindrops' using Glossy Accents.

Cobweb moon

I'm loving the new Tim Holtz releases and especially the owl together with the moon and stars. Whether you saw my card a little while ago or not, here's another take on the combination but this time with the cobweb and on a canvas. First I prepared the canvass with Distress paints - Chipped sapphire, Salt ocean and Broken china which was given a wash with white gesso once dry. Finally a gold mist was added.

I cut the moon and stars from gold mirricard using the Cresent moon & stars die. Then I ran it through my Big Shot with the riveted metal Texture fade, dabbed it with copper metallic mixative and then, when dry, dabbed it with black paint and rubbed that off as it was drying. I cut a strip of cobwebs out using Tim's Cobwebs strip die then cut part of it and glued it behind the moon before embellishing it with Crystal ice Stickles. I also used the Stickles to add the 'threads' for the spiders hanging down.

I cut out the owl, backed it with gold mirricard and added Crystal stickles over the eyes. He is edged with White fire Treasure gold.

Thanks for stopping by, have fun!
