Yarn Wreath Makeover

I've outgrown the colors in this wreath since I changed the colors in my girls room...

Rather than tossing it, I decided to give it a little makeover

I tore off the flowers and ribbon off (I hot glued those suckers on pretty well!) and wrapped new yarn right over the yellow yarn. You can see the original tutorial I posted HERE. Then I wrapped the yarn in sections over the white. easy. peasy.

Added a branch I found out front, not so easy. I'm sure there's an easy way to do this, but I just started shoving it in and before I knew it I had snapped the darn thing in half.
Nothing some hot glue and strategic yarn wrapping can't fix.
It sat like this for a couple weekends...

Cute, but it was missing something.

Then at Dollar Tree I spotted this...

(Can you believe Christmas stuff is out already?)

After a few seconds of dissecting the christmas spray, a couple dabs of hot glue, and some tulle, she's done!

Almost.
I still need to paint the weird red beaks on the birds brown...
then this will be one piece of a larger project I have in mind.

PS, don't you LOVE our avocado skin textured walls?
Yeah, me neither...
*sigh*

Breakdown cost on the makeover...
$1

The yarn was leftover from a few hats I had crocheted. The flowers I already had and attached with pearl corsage pins left over from our wedding (I did all the flowers for our wedding..fun!).

If you don't have have any supplies, you can still make this for around $5. The wreath was originally from the dollar store, and you can buy cheap yarn at Walmart. The flowers came from a small bunch of flowers I got on sale for a $1 at Hobby Lobby (their flowers are almost always 50% off).

I love a good cheap project makeover!
This week I'm linking up to...

Have you revamped any old projects lately?

Oops I Craft My Pants

I'm always happy to find a good DIY blog...throw in a hilarious title and some great humor and I'm in love. I don't remember how I came across Oops I Craft My Pants, but I had a feeling I'd like it just after reading the title. Erika just started doing a "tute-in tuesday" feature on her blog where you can check out other's great tutorials.

Go check it out!
