Months ago I saw a blog giving away a set of 5 painted soda bottles with "bloom" painted on them. The giveaway sponsor has an etsy shop, but I for the life of me cannot remember the shop name or even the blog I entered the giveaway on. I've search the blogs on my google reader and can't find it!
I entered the giveaway, but didn't win.
I entered the giveaway, but didn't win.
I went out and bought a 6 pack of Henry Weinhard's Orange Cream Soda for around $5. Yum.
Picked up a can of Blue Ocean Breeze Gloss Spray Paint by Krylon.
L-O-V-E.
I removed the labels and washed the bottles really well with warm soapy water.
After drinking the soda of course.
Delish.
Then I packed them up and moved.
I've been waiting to do this project for what seems forever and today I finally got to it!
Earlier this week I got a package from Giggly Gum Drops with the vinyl I needed for the project. If you are looking for vinyl check her out. Crystal is fabulous to work with and her prices are incredibly reasonable.
I cut my flowers to size
Spray painted the bottles blue*
Perfection
I love them.
These beauties will be going in my girls room, which still needs to be painted.
I'll post pictures of them in action later.
The break down on this project:
$3 for spray paint -Walmart
$5 for flowers- Hobby Lobby
$1 for vinyl- Giggly Gum Drops
$5 for soda bottles- Grocery Store
$14 total
We got to drink the soda and I've used this paint for several other items as well. If you have empty soda bottles and some spray paint on hand, this project would be much cheaper.
I adore the finished product and would say the $14 was well worth it!
*Just some notes. I did not prime the bottles prior to painting them which means they do chip easily, but since they will just be sitting on a shelf, I wasn't too concerned about that.
