Post 410: 2 Floral Mixed Media Cards- Warm Wishes

Hi friends!!

I'd like to share 2 Floral Mixed Media Cards today. This was part of my DT work for Bob n Betty. All the details are here. I was inspired by a few challenges & the Spring Season. I wanted to keep the look of Clean & Simple Mixed Media for these.

Process:
Both these cards are 5 by 7 inches in size. First, I took a couple of papers from Bob N Betty's Feel Like a Butterfly Paper Pack, cut them (4 by 6 inches) & distressed their edges. Then created mats for these panels (0.25 inches apart) and adhered all the layers. One of the layers was foam mounted to give the card some dimension. Then, created two colorful floral clusters/bouquets with flowers, gauze, twine, pollens, lace & dried up stalks/hay. Sprayed a couple of flowers with Lindys sprays to make them pop & then dry brushed Prima Finnabair's Heavy white gesso on the floral elements. Then, adhered these bouquets to the card front. For the sentiment, I wrote “warm wishes” with a black pen on 2 wood slices & mounted them on ornate embellishments to give the sentiments some height. Then, created a little splatter with Lindy’s sprays and white gesso. In the end, added a few drops of Nuvo drops & Perfect Pearls as a finishing touch.

Post 357: Warm Wishes Card

Hi friends !

I'd like to share a winter themed card today. I did stenciling on the cardbase with a snowflake design stencil using blue and grey inks. Then softened the look by lightly ink blending vintage photo distress oxide on the card base. For the die cut panel, I stamped the tea cup in brown & hearts in dark grey, then did ink blending around the edges of the die cut. The panel was then foam mounted on the card base & a natural jute twine was added in the end.

List of Supplies:

Winnie & Walter Stamp- Warm Wishes to You
Winnie & Walter Essentials- Lana Cutaways
Snowflake stencil
Distress Oxide Inkpads- Vintage Photo, Peacock Feathers & Broken China
Altenew Crisp Dye Mini Inkpads- Silver Stone, Industrial Diamond
Lawn Fawn Dye Ink Cube- Doe

Post 270: Masculine Mixed Media Card

Hi friends :)

I'd like to share a Masculine Mixed Media Card I made. This was for my DT post for Bob n Betty. You can check out all the details and photo tutorial here. I am slowly sharing projects on my blog as and when I get the time.

It is always difficult for me to make masculine projects so this one was really fun to make because I used some new supplies and was really happy with the result.

Synopsis of the Process: This is a 6 by 6 top folding card. Basically I created layers and textures with pattern paper, faux leather, die cuts and thread. The inka gold brought out the texture in the faux leather and gave some extra shine to the project.

List of Supplies:
Bob n Betty's Faux Leather
Bob n Betty Optima Paper Pack
Prima's Heavy White Gesso
White and Black Cardstock 300 gsm
Metal Charms
Wire Design Chipboard
MDF title
Thread
Tombow Mono Multi Glue
Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers
Inkagold Aquamarine
Sizzix Thinlits Gearhead Die- Tim Holtz
Tim Holtz Idealogy- Paper Dolls

Post 262: Best Wishes Card (Dry Embossing with a Stencil)

Hi friends :)

How are you? I'd like to share a card today. This was made for a Guest Design post for Craftreat. All the details can be checked out here.

I've used a stencil to do dry embossing here. There is a blog post I wrote a few days back on ideas to use stencils, if you'd like to check it out, it is here.

For this Best Wishes card, I’ve done dry embossing with a stencil. I inked up one part of the 2 Step Paisley Design Stencil with Peeled Paint Distress Ink and then with the embossing sandwich in place, ran it through the die cutting machine. The panel of green cardstock I used was already die cut because if we die cut an embossed paper, the embossing usually gets depressed into the paper. After running it through the machine, I got an embossed card panel which had lighter green embossed paisley shapes and it was surrounded by the peeled paint background. I took a sponge dauber and blended some fossilized amber distress oxide into the background and then placed part 2 (smaller design) on top of the card panel and blended peeled paint distress ink through it.

The embossing sandwich I used with my sizzix big shot plus was as follows:

Bottom to top: Platform + Sizzix Impressions Pad (this is a hard pad) + Sizzix Silicone Rubber Pad (this is a squishy pad) + Cardstock + Stencil (inked part facing the cardstock) + 1 sheet of printer paper + 1 cutting plate

(I did not use either of the 2 adapters A or B because with the above sandwich I got the impression I was looking for, no more pressure was required). You can use a Spellbinders Tan Pad or Sizzix Silicone and Impressions Pads for embossing with stencils. Watch a couple of youtube tutorials and you’ll be good to go in case you have never done it before.

List of Supplies:
Winnie & Walter Essentials: Audrey Cutaways
Sizzix Thinlits Die Set - Celebration Words Script by Tim Holtz
Craftreat 2 Step Paisley Design Stencil
Distress Inkpad - Peeled Paint
Distress Oxide Inkpad - Fossilized Amber

Half Pearls
White Ribbon
White & Green Cardstock 250 gsm

Hi friends :)

I'm sharing a card I made for a Guest Design Post on Stencils a few days back, you can check out all the details here. I didn't get a chance to blog about the cards so I am doing that one by one as time permits.

Icraft Stencil- Bubbles

GelliArts Gelli Printing Plate

Post 176: Floral Birthday Card

Hi Friends :)

I'd like to share a floral birthday card today.
This is inspired by the design of the beautiful mother's day card made by Heather Hoffman for Winnie & Walter's Rerun 19. I loved the idea of using a floral pattern paper and having the sentiment in the middle. Also, the addition of the twine. I tweaked the card design a bit and also made it into a birthday card because I usually need a lot of birthday cards :) I've added the sentiment on a vellum die cut and colored the die cut with some distress oxide. Embellished the card with dew droplets in light pink color.

List of Supplies:

Winnie & Walter Cutaways- Wishes (die cut)
Winnie & Walter Stamp- The Big, the bold and the happy (birthday)
Gina Marie Designs Scalloped Ovals Die

Distress Oxide- Broken China (to color the die cut wishes)
Iris White and black cardstock 250 gsm
Twine
Tombow Mono Multi Glue
Glossy Accents
Dew Drops (Orchid)- The Robin's Nest
Vellum

Post 156: Floral Card

Hi friends :)

I'd like to share a spring inspired card today :) This is an A2 size top folding card.  I was inspired by this beautiful card made by the awesome Vanessa Menhorn for W & W's Rerun No. 18 Challenge. I loved the design of her card, the frame and the placement of the flowers so I did my take on the same.

Synopsis of the Process:

I took the watercolor paper and created a background with zig markers and an aqua brush by adding colors in layers to give a loose organic look. (It took a while till I was happy with it although a lot of it got covered up by the flower cluster). Then I die cut the water color panel and also green cardstock to form the scalloped frame. Both of these die cuts were adhered onto the cardbase. Then I stamped the greeting in versafine ink and heat embossed the rest of the sentiment onto a snippet of black cardstock. This was adhered to the card. Then on snippets of watercolor paper, I stamped flower and leaf images with versafine onyx black ink (I usually use archival ink since its water proof but I've noticed it doesn't stamp very well on watercolor paper since its very textured and I have to keep stamping again and again, in this case I wanted nice black outlines so I went with versafine and thankfully even after watercoloring, it didnt bleed :) ) Then the images were water colored with zig markers and an aqua brush and then fussy cut. Then these fussy cut images were organized into a cluster and adhered onto the card. In the end a butterfly from a pattern paper was also added to the card to tie in the spring theme and embellish the card.

List of Supplies:

1. Winnie & Walter Stamp Set- Wishing You with Evelin T Designs
