Post 651: Spring Inspired Art Journal Page - Celebrate (Inspiration for Lindy's Gang Color Challenge, March, 2020)

Hi friends!
Hope you are doing well :)

We have a beautiful mood board for you.
There are generous prizes on offer, so please do join the challenge.
All the details about the Challenge can be found on the Lindy's Gang Blog.

Lindy's Gang has gorgeous sprays, pigment powders, squirts & embossing powders, they ship worldwide, to check out their store, please click HERE
Also, to get product updates & lots of inspiration, we have a vibrant Lindy's Creative Gang Facebook Group.

Color Palette Guidelines: Golden Yellow- Bright Green-Teal

To enter the Color Challenge you MUST use at least 2 colors from the monthly color palette and as always you may also use black, white, neutrals or metallic colors as well! We are finding that there are so many amazing artists who are joining our challenge, that we can’t keep up with choosing winners! So, we’ll still have 5 winners of $50 gift certificates to Lindy’s, (sometimes more if we get tons of participants), and of those, 3 projects will be picked by Lindy’s for style, linking, etc, (the details are below) and 2 will be randomly drawn. Hopefully more people are encouraged to enter and we’ll get even more gorgeous projects! We just love sharing the Lindy love & thought this would be a great way to do it without anyone feeling intimidated.

For the challenge inspiration, I've created a Spring inspired Art Journal Page - Celebrate.

Post 125: Spring Themed Art Journal Pages- Life is Beautiful

Hi friends :)

I'd like to share an art journal spread. I was experimenting and playing with supplies and really wanted to use the packaging net from apples to give texture to the pages, so this is the spring themed project I ended up with which is basically about celebrating life.

Synopsis of the process:

Since this is an old diary which I use as an art journal, I usually glue 2 pages together to make the pages more sturdy and then apply white gesso on them. Then in this case, I adhered the packaging net with the gesso (which also acts as a good glue). Next, applied some colored texture paste through a leaf design stencil (colored the texture paste by mixing it with green color spray), after that stamped some flowers on scraps of cardstock, then colored them with distress crayons and zig markers and fussy cut them. Then colored the page with ink sprays and used sprays of water to create movement. Next, adhered the flowers with mono multi liquid glue. Then did some background stamping to create more texture and tie all the elements together. Then did some doodling with camlin markers, finally added the sentiments (spring to life and life is beautiful) from stickers and a delicate yellow fabric butterfly and created some white splashes with watered down white gesso.

List of Supplies:

1. Stamplorations stamps- big bloom factory
2. So suzy cling stamps- clematis doodle
3. Mudra stamps- hexa
4. Ranger's Archival Jet black inkpad
5. Acrylic block
6. Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens (pack of 12)
7. Camlin Brush pens (pack of 6)
8. Aqua brush- small, medium
9. Little Birdie Color Splash Sprays- Lime splash, lemon zing, ocean mist
10. Camlin White Gesso

Post 117: Mixed Media Tag: Under Water

Hi Friends!

I'd like to share a tag with you today. I'm also excited to share that I am having a small crafty giveaway which is open to anyone worldwide (international folks are most welcome). All the details can be found here -- I'd be super thrilled and honored if you play along :) the prize is a 25 USD gift certificate to any store you like.

Now onto the tag, this is a mixed media underwater scene tag. I created it while I was trying out some new supplies and experimenting :) it was fun!

Synopsis of the Process :-

The base of the tag is the cardboard cover in which my faber castell watercolor pencils came in, so it is an upcycled supply. I applied white gesso to it and then some snippets of paper which had interesting shapes on them (these were left over from earlier punch craft projects- circles design and edge desgin). These papers were added to give dimension and also for added interest. In the finished piece, they look like ripples, if you see the close up pictures. Then the water drop rubber stamp from the designs by ryn- texture stamps was stamped in the background with jet black archival ink. Colors were added using color sprays and I wanted it to look like sun rays are entering through the water, so that effect was achieved by working first on the left side and adding the sunny side on the right. I am happy with the way the colors merged and the way the background looks :) The fish stamp from the Taylored Expressions Cling Stamp set- Mama & Me was stamped and colored with zig markers. Some details were added with a white gel pen. These images were fussy cut with scissors. Then the green, weed like sea floor was drawn in with distress markers and then stamped images were adhered with Tombow glue. The title "imagine something different" is from the Tim Holtz Chit Chat stickers set.

Supplies Used :-

1. Taylored Expressions Cling Stamps- Mama & Me
2. Designs by Ryn- Textures (rubber stamps)- water droplet
3. Distress crayons set 1
4. Sprays by heidi swapp (pink, blue, yellow) and color splash by little birdie (lemon zing, lime splash, ocean mist)
6. Snippets of white cardstock
7. Ranger's achival jet black ink
8. Uniball Signo white gel pen
9. Aqua brush
10. Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers
11. Tombow mono multi glue
12. Camlin White Gesso
13. Paint brushes, palette knife, water spray bottel and scissors
14. Upcycled Cardboard box (for the base)

Here are a few pictures of the finished tag :--

Post 116: Spring Themed Tag 2

Hi Friends

I'd like to share a tag with you today. I'm also excited to share that I am having a small crafty giveaway which is open to anyone worldwide (international folks are most welcome). All the details can be found here -- I'd be super thrilled and honored if you play along :) the prize is a 25 USD gift certificate to any store you like.

Now onto the tag, this is a mixed media spring themed tag with flowers, leaves and  a butterfly

Synopsis of the Process:-

The base of the tag is upcycled from some corrugated cardboard packaging. I really like the corrugated look which I think adds so much interest and dimension :) so I tore the thin paper covering on the cardboard at certain places to reveal the corrugated based underneath. Then white gesso was applied along with which some white lace was adhered to the base. Then texture paste was applied through a leaf stencil with the vine pattern on top of the lace (left side) and a small bit on the right side. Then colors were added with color sprays and water was sprayed to diffuse the intensity of the colors. I wanted the colors to be softer here. Then some background stamping was done to give added interest to the background, stamping was done with archival jet black ink using one of the designs by ryn- texture stamps. The circular design from the same stamp set was also stamped onto some cardstock and colored with distress markers, then I hand drew a flower outline to the designs, to make it look like whimsical flowers, these were then fussy cut. Kaisercraft butterfly stamp was also stamped onto a snippet of white cardstock, colored with zig markers and then fussy cut. Lastly, the sentiment was stamped from the so suzy cling stamp- color of spring and fussy cut, to make the edges distinct and pop out against the busy background a hand drawn outline was made on the sentiment with a fine tip black sharpie marker. The fussy cut images and sentiment were arranged onto the tag and adhered. To bring out the details in the flowers, some white dots were added using a white gel pen.

Supplies Used:
1. Designs by Ryn- Textures (rubber stamps)
2. So suzy cling stamps - color of spring
3. Kaisercraft clear stamps- butterflies
4. Distress crayons set 1
5. Sprays by heidi swapp (pink, blue, yellow) and color splash by little birdie (lemon zing, lime splash, ocean mist)
6. Snippets of white cardstock
7. Ranger's achival jet black ink
8. Double sided foam tape
9. Uniball Signo white gel pen
10. Aqua brush
11. Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers
12. Snippets of lace
13. Tombow mono multi glue
14. Local stationery shop stencil- leaves
18. Monte Marte Texture paste
19. Camlin White Gesso
20. Paint brushes, palette knife, water spray bottel and scissors
21. Black sharpie marker and black fine point sharpie marker
22. A piece of corrugated cardboard

Here are a few pictures of the finished tag:--

I am playing along with the following challenges:

Rubber Dance Stamps Colour Challenge- March (stamping has been done to create the flowers and butterfly as well as in the background, all the colors of the moodboard have been included)

Butterfly Challenge #74- One butterfly has been included and mint green color is there as one of the colors in the background, also because of the corrugated cardboard, the edges of the tag are shaped with mountains (ups) and valleys (downs).

March Customer Creation Challenge- Designs by Ryn (1 of the designs by ryn texture stamps has been used here, in the background as well as on the fussy cut flower images)

Stamplorations Mixed Media Challenge- March (Leaves design stencil has been used here)

2. Sprays by heidi swapp and color splash by little birdie (lemon zing, lime splash, ocean mist)
