Post 487: Vintage Art Journal Spread- Live (Inspiration for Art Playground Blog's October Play)

Hi folks!
Good Morning :)

Art Playground Blog's October Play is on. There is still time to play along, all the details for it can be found HERE. We have fabulous sponsors, lots of inspiration & ideas, so please do link up your beautiful entries !

For the October Play Inspiration, I've made a Vintage Art Journal Spread-"Live" I was inspired by the theme, "My Muse" and the gorgeous moodboard colors that reminded me of the autumn season. My inspiration comes from different sources. A lot of times, my muses come to me in the form of beautiful & unique photographs of strangers. I find nature to be my favourite source of inspiration. I like to incorporate natural elements into my artwork. For example, in this art journal spread, I've used a beautiful vintage photograph of a girl, my old book pages dyed with coffee, raffia & dried husk collected during a holiday & wood slices from my family's farm. I wanted the whole piece to be earthy, organic and very autumny.

Post 407: Welcome Spring Swap- Spreading Love & Good Vibes Around the World

Hi friends!

Welcome to my blog :) This is Preeti Datta (aka Dutt Preety).
Today is the start of the Welcome Spring Hop. It's a wonderful event hosted by Nuneka in which 12 Crafters from all over the world got together and decided to make a handmade gift/project for another crafter within the group. So the chain of "spreading love & good vibes around the world" was formed. Each of us made a project for 1 crafter and each of us received a project from another crafter within the group. We wanted to show our love & appreciation for crafters and to build a happy, positive environment. Today we are having a blog hop to share the projects with everyone. Even we haven't seen all the projects, so I'm very excited to see what all the ladies have made. This blog hop will be on till the 4th of April.

There are 2 giveaways on my blog plus sponsor giveaways for the whole event, please read all the details as you scroll down this post. We'll announce the winners of the giveaways on the 5th of April, 2018.

I Sent My Project to Sunila Mahajan

A beautiful, kind, talented & sweet crafter. It was an honor to make a project for her. When I asked about what I should make for her or any guidelines, likes, dislikes, she told me to make whatever I wanted. Isn't that sweet? I have to say I was so nervous because making a project for another crafter can be so tough. Finally, I went with something simple, using colors I adore. I wanted it to be something useful so I chose a Sketch Book/Journal which she could fill with her beautiful artwork. I decorated the front cover in a Simple Mixed Media Style Floral Layout.

I am submitting this Journal Cover for Mixed Media Place's March Challenge
(was inspired by the blues, greens and flowers)

Card sent to Sunilaji to accompany the Sketchbook/Journal

Description of my Project (Synopsis of the Process)

For the Journal cover, I went for a Vintage Floral Mixed Media look . To start with, attached different laces as the first textural layer using Prima's soft matte gel & then added modelling paste through a couple of stencils. Then applied white gesso to prime the surface. Then added the chipboards & title "ART". Further, added colors using Lindy's Sprays &  Magical Powders. For the border, I used gauze which was colored with Lindy's Sprays. Attached the colored gauze in multiple layers, around the journal cover, using soft matte gel and then also added natural twine. Then attached flowers to the journal using gel medium. Added secondary titles using Tim Holtz stickers, "imagine, create, inspire" (distressed with vintage photo distress ink). To add sparkle & shine to the project, added sequins around the border (on the gauze) & liquid pearls to the chipboards and gauze. As a finishing touch, applied Prima's Metallique waxes to the flowers, chipboards and some places on the journal front.

(A beautiful Journal & card in my favorite colors of blue & green. Thanks so much for making it for me :)
