Post 460: Vintage Mixed Media Card (Inspiration for SDC304- Stampotique Designers Challenge- Number It)

Hi folks!!

I'd like to share a Vintage Mixed Media Card which I made as inspiration for Stampotique Designer's Challenge (SDC) #304- "Number It". I've used wooden numbers here as well as washi tapes with numbers in the background. Please read the rules and do join the challenge with your beautiful creations, there are prizes to be won! For lots more ideas and inspiration, check out the Stampotique Originals Rubberstamps Facebook Group.

I've used Stampotique Originals Rubber stamps: Big Bee- Item no. 3008 & Quotes #1- Item no. 8995 here. For the background I used washi tapes, Prima Finnabair's heavy white & clear gesso, rust paste, distress inks & oxides and wooden numbers. To color the bee, I used watercolors and then added some scribbles and doodles with a white gel pen. To create texture, I added golden net and black thread behind the bee. In the end, I created some ink splatter, matted the panel in black and foam mounted it on a 5 by 7 inch white card base.

Here are some photos of the card:

Post 459: Two Mixed Media Cards

Hi friends :)
How are you ?

Today, I'd like to share Two Mixed Media Cards. This is part of my DT work for AB Studio by Aga Baraniak. I used 4 of their beautiful stencils (linked at the bottom of this post). Pair of Mixed Media Cards

Mixed Media Card 1: Be Authentic

Mixed Media Card 2: Create Art

Synopsis of the Process:

For these cards, I started with thick watercolor paper and did some intuitive coloring with inks and paints (which basically means I had fun putting down colors :) ) then I added washi tapes and black gesso in some areas. I did background stenciling with AB Studio Stencils 61, 36, 24 and 22 using inks, paints & white gesso. To add more interest, I did background stamping using archival inks. Then created some ink splatters. I used die cuts and thread to create the cluster and used quote chips as the focal elements. Added a few details with a white gel pen. Finally, darkened the edges of the panels, matted them in black and foam mounted them on 5 by 7 inch white card bases.

Supplies Used:

AB Studio Stencil 22
Prima- Finnabair Heavy White & Black Gesso, Soft Matte Gel
Sizzix- Tim Holtz Alterations Dies Mixed Media Dies and Gearhead
Tim Holtz Idea-ology Quote Chips
Ranger's Distress Oxides, Inks, Archival Inks, Distress Paints

Post 457: Grungy Vintage Art Journal Spread- Embrace Your Journey (Inspiration for Art Playground Blog's July Play)

Hi friends!!
Good Morning

Today is my first post as a DT member for the Art Playground Blog :)
Art Playground Blog's July Play is onThere is still time to play along, all the details for it can be found HERE.

We have 4 fabulous sponsors, lots of inspiration & ideas, so please do link up your beautiful entries !

For the July Play Inspiration, I made a Grungy Vintage Art Journal Spread- "Embrace Your Journey". I was inspired by the theme, "Tell Your Story" and the gorgeous moodboard colors. I wanted to show the journey of a woman's life, from youth to old age.

Here are some photographs of the Art Journal Spread:

Synopsis of the Process:

I created the background by collaging torn pieces of paper from old book pages, decoupage papers, washi tapes & fabric tapes. Then applied clear gesso to the surface and colors using distress inks and distress oxides. Then did background stamping with archival inks. To add more interest to the background, did background stencilling with AB Studio stencils (using archival ink and modelling paste). The focal elements are paper dolls by Tim Holtz, for layering, used die cuts, gauze, crochet lace, thread and buttons. Added some scribbles with black and white markers to add to the grungy look. Then added the titles using TH stickers & created some ink splatters. In the end, darkened the edges of the pages with black soot distress ink.

Please don't forget to join the Art Playground Blog's July Play
(open worldwide with awesome prizes)

Thanks a lot for your precious time !

Post 456: Vintage Art Journal Page- Life is a Grand Adventure

Hi friends!
Hope you are having a pleasant weekend :)

Today I'd like to share a Vintage Art Journal Page- "Life is a Grand Adventure". I did art journalling after a while & I must say, I really enjoyed the process & hope to do it more often. This page is my DT work for AB Studio. Please do join the FB group for loads of ideas and inspirations.

Here are some photos of the Art Journal Page:

Process: For this page, I added washi tapes to the background and then lightly applied Finnabair's heavy white gesso. Then added colors using distress paint- Spiced Marmalade & Dylusions-Vibrant Turquoise Paint. In the background did stamping with Finnabair's - Never Too Late rubber stamps & Dylusions- Inbetweenies Rubber stamps using archival inks. Then added little dots to the background using AB Studio Stencil 3Jet black Archival Ink & a blending tool with foam. I also added some Lindy's Gang sprays (using a paint brush) to create more interest in the background. For the focal element, I've used Tim Holtz paper dolls & the title is from Tim Holtz metallic stickers. To create a cluster around the focal element, I've used die cuts, threads, gauze, sisal, burlap fibers, wood slices & charms. I used Prima's soft matte gel to stick everything down. In the end, I created ink splatter & did some scribbly writing with a black fine line pen.

You can also check out the beautiful papers, stencils and stamps available in Aga's online shop (AB Studio) by clicking HERE. They have worldwide shipping & amazing designs!

I am playing along with the following challenges:

1. Mixed Media Place June Challenge- was inspired by the colors, wood & message in the photos
