I had Jonas and Leslie write fables this month for school, and they enjoyed them so much. They've eached picked their favorite (possibly their shortest for typing reasons...), typed it up, and illustrated them. Last night for Family Home Evening the kids even acted them out. That was something I should have recorded, but didn't. Oh well.
Here they are:
THE CHEATING RACCOON AND THE HONEST DOG
by Jonas
Once upon a time there was a race between a raccoon and a dog. As soon as the whistle blew, they started off, neck to neck. Then, they saw a big hill ahead. The dog immediately started climbing up the hill, but the raccoon looked and saw a faint trail. So the raccoon went on the trail, and found it was going the direction he wanted, with no hills! He ran on and on. Meanwhile, the dog plodded over the hill to the finish line. He crossed the finish line and got a medal. An hour later the raccoon was found knee-deep in a swamp, stuck.
MORAL:
Don’t cheat, honesty is the greatest medal of all.
THE ARGUMENT
by Leslie
Once upon a time, two boys were coloring, Henry and Jack.
Jack said, “Doesn’t mine look beautiful?”
Henry responded, “Yes, but mine looks better.”
“It does not!” Jack said, “Mine does!”
“Yours is pitiful!” Henry said.
“Pitiful? Pitiful?! Yours is the one that’s pitiful!” said Jack.
Soon they both felt bad.
“Sorry,” said Jack. “I should of…”
“I should be the one to be sorry.” said Henry. They hugged and felt better.
“Wow!” said Henry. “Yours is beautiful!”
“Well,” said Jack, “Yours is awesome!”
THE END
Moral: Don’t try to be better than others.

Utah trip... by myself!
Lemme explain... no, there is too much. Let me sum up. (Name the movie!)
I got to visit family in Utah this past week. It was a special trip to meet my new niece, Hazel Bentley Davey, and be present as Brandon and Laura blessed her this past Sunday. Visiting family was awesome: parents, brothers and sisters, aunts and uncles, cousins, and even friends from long ago. Games, lots of yummy food, laughter, late night talks, and of course, the main attraction of an adorable baby!
Here's a traditional slideshow...
Of course, I was extreeeeeeeeeeemely happy to come home to my own sweetheart and kids. Love them too!

New Testament
Jonas finished the New Testament today!
He writes,
"The New Testament is an account of Jesus' life and ministry. It is also an account of several years of the gospel after Jesus died. More than half the New Testament is what happened after Jesus was crucified and rose again. In fact, two of my favorite scriptures come from Romans. Here they are:
Romans 8:5-6 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the spirit the things of the spirit.
For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
The next one is short, but it is a very good scripture.
Romans 12:21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.
I really like the New Testament, it was very fun reading it and I learned a lot."
WAY TO GO JONAS!!!!!
