Send A Smile 4 Kids Fall Cards

It's the first Saturday of the month... which means it's time for a new Send a Smile 4 Kids Challenge!

I cut the circles using my Hero Arts infinity dies, layered them onto a piece of textured cardstock, and hand drew the stitches.  The hair was cut freehand.  Super easy and fun to do!

Hope you'll stop by the Send a Smile 4 Kids Challenge blog and check out our DT fall cards. Then, stop back by later this month to link up a card of your very own. Even though we are focusing on fall cards this month, any kid-friendly card can be linked up for the challenge.

If you are interested in donating your card to one of our hospitals, please check each shipper's current needs. Due to Covid, not all of our hospitals are accepting cards at this time.

Thanks for stopping, and happy crafting!

Words 2 Craft By Mid Challenge Reminder

This month's words of gratitude come to us from Sam Lefkowitz.
When asked if my cup is half-empty or half-full
my only response is that I am thankful I have a cup.
I found a 12 x 12 sheet from American Crafts with small blocks with sayings.  I love these for mass producing cards.  Bonus - it coordinated nicely an Echo Park paper pad I already owned!

Falling Leaves

Just Us Girls has a photo challenge this week:
I needed a fall card for a family that does not do Halloween.
Our leaves have been boring this year.  Not enough rain, and way too warm late in the season for pretty colors.  I had to make my own! Be sure to pop by Words 2 Craft By for our heroes challenge.

I made a lot of pretty trash working on this challenge.  Still unsure of my color combination.
DCWV burlap paper, stash ribbon.   Be sure to stop by Words 2 Craft By for our Ahoy Matey challenge!!!

W2CB #57 - Crispy Fall

Here in the Midwest, there's almost always a crispness in the air when the calendar turns to September. To commemorate the change in seasons, the Words 2 Craft By quote come to us from F. Scott Fitzgerald.

Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall.

I love making fall cards, my favorite color pallet is derived from fall colors.  I love the deep reds, purples, golds, and oranges I see on the trees around me.
I started with paper colored with  alcohol ink and gold mixative:
I cut the leaves with old Marvy metal punches, and curled the leaves around a pencil.  Added a fun die cut background and an old SU! sentiment and done!!  Come play along with us at Words 2 Craft By and show us your crispy fall creation!!!

Halloween!

Tuesday Morning Sketches had a fun challenge this week:
http://tuesdaymorningsketches.blogspot.com/2017/09/tuesday-morning-sketches-422.html
Here is my take:
I added layers to the elements to make them pop a bit.  The chevron paper is from a DCWV fall paper pad, the stamps are unknown - maybe really old SU!?  I love my MISTI, I had to stamp the images a few times to fill in the solid areas, and the images are still crisp.  I am also sharing this with Darnell's NMBUS (Never Before Used Schutff) challenge because these secondhand stamps have never been used by me!  Come play along with us at Words 2 Craft By for our Logic vs. imagination challenge!

Fall Harvest

I LOVE fall - even if it doesn't feel much like it in Ohio.  There is a field of sunflowers near my house.  Chocolate covered sunflower seeds are one of my favorite treats!
Close to My Heart Simply Splendid sunflower stamped in light and dark ink, then water colored in light yellow and medium brown and fussy cut.  Love the rustic look of the wide twill tape and grosgrain ribbon.  Sharing with The Paper Girls Harvest challenge.

Happy Fall!

I love Fall!  The colors, cooler temperatures (ha - it was 90 here today!), the start of the holiday season, what's not to love?

Playing along with a new-to-me sketch challenge from Try Stampin' on Tuesday.

My version:
Love the Echo Park paper.  The pumpkin is a button with the shank cut off.  Still time to play along with the Words 2 Craft By Logic vs. Imagination challenge!!

Happy Fall!

I love fall, the football, the leaves, the evening chill.  I just try to forget that winter isn't far behind.  Cards In Envy is celebrating fall this week!

Autumn Colors

I would love Fall a lot more if it wasn't a prelude to Winter.  I love the temperatures, smells, holidays, and lack of gift giving requirements.
I think I made 7 of these, using different proportions and different positioning.  Some wound up in the recycling bin, others were adhered to card bases.  This one was my favorite.  Scattered Straw Distress ink, Kaleidacolor Autumn Leaves stamping, dark green card base.  I am trying to learn that it is OK to make things that don't work out.  I can always recycle!!!  Come play along with the October Words 2 Scrap By challenge - Fight Like a Girl!!

I am sharing this with The Male Room - Autumn Theme.

Mid-Month Throw Down - Fall Colors

I have been diligently making Thanksgiving cards for my family.  It is kind of nice to take the time to do some things for my family and friends, without feeling guilty for not supporting our deployed heroes. So happy they are coming home, for so many reasons!!!

I think this one can be classified as fall colors!!!

The green was dry embossed with a crackle embossing folder, , the pumpkin paper was embossed with a burlap folder.  The sticker, patterned paper, and studs were from my stash.

Only a few more days to play along with the Words2ScrapBy.blogspot.com challenge - To everything there is a season!

OWH VCMP Colored Background Challenge

Beth over at Bunny Scrap had a great challenge - colored background.  I love this challenge - I don't make full use of the wide variety of resources I have.  Here is a couple of cards with alcohol ink on the backgrounds, and heat embossing with gold and bronze powders for the images.  LOVE!!!!  I do think that I will take the one that I used as a full front, and mat it.  I think it will add a lot of interest.

Use a Punch (an old one?)

This both Operation Write Home Mid Week Throw Down and Shopping Our Stash Challenge 112 are to use punches.  SOS added the caveat that it had to be my OLDEST punch.

Here is my card:

My oldest punch used on this card is the maple leaf.  It is probably 20 years old, one of the old spinner punches that has 8 different leaves.  I used Spellbinder dies for the square windows and the sentiment and matting.  I used an old Fiskars wavy blade for the edging, and stash dotted ribbon.  The sentiment is from TPC Studios, paper from DCWV Autumn Stack on a kraft card base.

I love how the ombre technique looks on cards, and wanted to give it a try on a fall card.  Brown paper is a linen texture from Recollections.  TPC Studios sentiment, DCWV patterned paper.
