July 2022: Christmas in July 4 Kids - Challenge #227

It's Christmas in July at Send A Smile 4 Kids!  This month's challenge is to make a non-religious holiday card:

I love the non-traditional colors in this paper line from Echo Park.

Send A Smile 4 Kids is a charitable blog created for the purpose of collecting donated handmade cards to be distributed to children while they are inpatient at Children’s Hospitals. Currently we are donating them to many children's hospitals all over the USA.

On any given day, there are many children inpatient in these hospitals so we would love to receive as many cards as you can send to cheer them and their families. The kids may also use your cards as Thank You Notes to the nurses and doctors and to give to parents or relatives on special days like birthdays or Mothers or Fathers Day.

June 2022: Teen/Tween Cards - Challenge #226

It's the first Saturday of the month, and that means it's time for a new Send A Smile 4 Kids challenge, this month focusing on cards for teens/tweens.  That's a tough age for making cards, especially for the boys.  Karen Titus had a tutorial last month that has a great layout to showcase both sides of patterned paper.  I had a retired teen boy pad from Echo Park that I thought would be perfect, and I made more than 20 cards from this partially used pad!  Here are a few:

Love the different game controllers!

The inside shows off the other side of the patterned paper!

I even used the leftover strips to make a few more cards.  No leftovers/waste!!

Spring & Easter Cards 4 Kids

SAS4Kids always works a month or two ahead, so while many people are making Valentine cards, we have moved on the Spring and Easter cards!  Be sure to link up your creation at the SAS4Kids challenge blog.

I don't often stamp on patterned paper (this one from DoodleBug), but I thought this cute image from Kat Scrappiness would be cute with the ears and feet fussy cut and colored.  Yes!!!

Freshly Made Love

Judy from Freshly Made Sketches has a great challenge this week:

Spellbinder background die layered over bright silver metallic (sooo hard to photograph).  The oval mirror sentiment has been in my stash for at least 10 years!  I make more love cards than Valentines, since they will be donated to Cards for Soldiers and general cards have a longer shelf life.
Super simple, but I have the red and silver combination for this sketch:

Come play along with us at Send A Smile 4 Kids for our Love Challenge!

Valentine and Love Cards 4 Kids

Happy New Year!!  Time for a brand new monthly challenge here at Send a Smile 4 Kids! Since Valentine's Day is right around the corner, the challenge is to create Valentine and Love Cards 4 Kids. These are cards that would be appropriate for a parent or hospital staff member to give to an inpatient child/tween/teen. However, ANY kid/teen/tween-appropriate card can be linked up for the monthly challenge and will be eligible for Top Three recognition.  Be sure to link up your creation on the SAS4Kids blog.

Is this pup from Great Impressions adorable?  I fussy cut and paired him with an ancient piece of Boxer paper, and embossed it with a Darice Paw Prints folder.

Send A Smile 4 Kids Celebration Challenge

This month's challenge at Send a Smile 4 Kids is a holiday or celebration card.  I made a Thanksgiving thank you card.

I used a Darice Scroll Corner embossing folder on COREdinations paper, and sanded the design.  The pumpkins were die cut.  I think the sentiment is perfect for SAS4Kids!!!

Send A Smile 4 Kids Fall Cards

It's the first Saturday of the month... which means it's time for a new Send a Smile 4 Kids Challenge!

I cut the circles using my Hero Arts infinity dies, layered them onto a piece of textured cardstock, and hand drew the stitches.  The hair was cut freehand.  Super easy and fun to do!

Hope you'll stop by the Send a Smile 4 Kids Challenge blog and check out our DT fall cards. Then, stop back by later this month to link up a card of your very own. Even though we are focusing on fall cards this month, any kid-friendly card can be linked up for the challenge.

If you are interested in donating your card to one of our hospitals, please check each shipper's current needs. Due to Covid, not all of our hospitals are accepting cards at this time.

Thanks for stopping, and happy crafting!
