I love fall, the football, the leaves, the evening chill. I just try to forget that winter isn't far behind. Cards In Envy is celebrating fall this week!

OWH Sketch Challenge #218
Talk about a challenge!!! I am away from home, visiting my in laws in their beautiful home in the mountains of Tennessee. My MIL, Pat, is one of the most creative people I know, but her interests run more toward sewing and machine embroidery, not cardmaking. As I didn't bring any supplies with me - I challenged myself to create the card using only items I could find in her (vast) sewing room. What fun!!!
She embroiders postcards, so she only has solid papers - not a pattern to be found. She also prefers to generate her sentiments with her computer - very few stamps and inks. Soooo, this is what I came up with! Kaiser Craft images, TPC Studios sentiment, SEI ink, beautiful handmade, orange mulberry paper, crystals from DesignByDawn.com.

Use a Punch (an old one?)
This both Operation Write Home Mid Week Throw Down and Shopping Our Stash Challenge 112 are to use punches. SOS added the caveat that it had to be my OLDEST punch.
Here is my card:
My oldest punch used on this card is the maple leaf. It is probably 20 years old, one of the old spinner punches that has 8 different leaves. I used Spellbinder dies for the square windows and the sentiment and matting. I used an old Fiskars wavy blade for the edging, and stash dotted ribbon. The sentiment is from TPC Studios, paper from DCWV Autumn Stack on a kraft card base.

OWH VCMP - Triple Time
Donna Inks is the hostess for the fourth challenge in Operation Write Home's Virtual Card Making Party. Her challenge? A triple time card. I love the three dimensional look, but prefer using patterned paper. But, cutting out all of the layers and having them be even is too much work!
So, I opened my trusty SCAL, and made my own cut file. I used the file to cut the layers on my cutter. Instead of layering solid pieces of cardstock, I can layer frames of patterned paper and matting!!
You can download the free SVG or SCUT file to cut your own layered cards! The files contain cuts for both the patterned paper and for the matting.
Lesson learned - make a mark on the back of the patterned paper to indicate which direction each piece should be glued. Ask me how I know....
Here is the card I made today for Donna's challenge.
I think the paper that I used is a little too busy. Paper is Hot Off The Press, snowflake accents are Favorite Findings, stamp from TPC Studios.
You can see my previous post on Triple Time Cards here.

OWH Sketch Challenge #131
I have SUCH a hard time with challenges - guess that is why they are called CHALLENGES!!!!
Operation Write Home has a weekly sketch challenge. Here is my take on this week's challenge.
I used Paper Runway scraps, textured the pink background with Swiss Dot embossing folder, and added some edge cording by Making Memories. Sentiment from TPC Studio.
Not my favorite project, but it did force me to do something different!!!!

Triple Time Bobbi Style
I saw a wonderful card at DOStamping with Dawn. I loved the look, but thought that 6 layers of cardstock, plus the card base, would be a bit thick for mailing.
So, I opened my trusty SCAL, and made my own cut file. Instead of layering solid pieces of cardstock, I can layer frames of patterned paper and matting!!
You can download the free SVG or SCUT file to cut your own layered cards!
My version using DCWV Black Currant paper:
Different papers give a completely different look, like this funky K & Company paper :
Stamps are both TPC Studio.
Added Note: I have had requests to post the dimensions of the layers. Here they are in inches.
For the solid mat layers:
4.25" x 5.5"
3.25 x 4.5
2.25 x 3.5
1 x 2
For the patterned layers:
4 x 5.25
3 x 4.25
2 x 3.25
