“If you can’t love yourself, how the hell you gonna love somebody else?” - RuPaul - - - - - - - - - - - “if by a "Liberal" they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people -- their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights, and their civil liberties -- someone who believes we can break through the stalemate and suspicions that grip us in our policies abroad, if that is what they mean by a "Liberal," then I'm proud to say I'm a "Liberal.” - John F. Kennedy - - - - - - - - - - - - “Imagine finding someone you love more than anything in the world, who you would risk your life for but couldn’t marry. And you couldn’t have that special day the way your friends do – you know, wear the ring on your finger and have it mean the same thing as everybody else. Just put yourself in that person’s shoes. It makes me feel sick to my stomach …. When I shared a picture of my tattoo on my Twitter page and said, ‘ALL LOVE is equal,’ a lot of people mocked me – they said, ‘What happened to you? You used to be a Christian girl!’ And I said, ‘Well, if you were a true Christian, you would have your facts straight. Christianity is about love.’ The debate resulted in a lot of threats and hate mail to people who agreed and disagreed with me. At one point I had to say, ‘Dude, everyone lay off.’ Can’t people have friendly debates about sensitive topics without it turning into unnecessary threats?” - Pop star Miley Cyrus on her marriage equality tattoo - - - - - - - - - - -

A Violation of the Temporal Prime Directive Occurred at the Oscars Last Night

You know I couldn't go without mentioning the long, long, long, long opening segment Seth MacFarlane gave at the Oscars last night.  All the buzz today is the violation of the Temporal Prime Directive by Captain James T. Kirk when he came back to tell Seth he was the worst Academy Awards host ever. LOL.  It was definitely a treat to watch being that I'm a Star Trek fan and all. :-)
Catch the full opening monologue after the jump...

Star Trek Characters & Roles

I found this chart online and thought it was pretty cool. So being that I love Star Trek so much I thought it was only fitting I post it on my blog.  Thank you ChartGeek.
Here is a chart of practically every Star Trek bridge officer from every Star Trek show arranged according to character name and role. Please note that exact parallels are impossible to make so what I’m aiming for here are roles that are roughly analogous, not 100% the same.

Captain Kathryn Janeway vs. The Cast of Frasier

I felt a little bit of nostalgia coming on, and had to post this video of Captain Kathryn Janeway from the television series, "Star Trek: Voyager".

The series aired from 1995-2001 on the UPN network which later changed it's name to the CW.  It was the networks longest airing series at the time and I watched every single episode.  Of all the Star Trek shows, this was by far, my favorite.  The Captain, while foolish in her decisions at times, was statuesque, brave and downright sexy.  We all loved her.  Well... most of my friends did anyway. LOL.

In either case, the cast from the sitcom, "Frasier" which aired from 1993-2004 were featured alongside Captain Janeway and her bridge during the Emmy Awards and it was absolutely hilarious.  Check it out.

Documentaries To Watch: The Captains

On July 21, the documentary, "The Captains" premieres on EPIX HD.  You'll watch as William Shatner (Captain Kirk) hunts down all the wonderful actors who played Star Trek captains in each of the television series.

He'll interview The Next Generation's Captain PicardDeep Space Nine's Captain Benjamin Sisko, and Voyager's Captain Janeway, (Patrick Stewart, Avery Brooks, Kate Mulgrew).  He was even gracious enough to interview Scott Bakula from Enterprise. I never watched that show, so forgive me for not knowing his character's name, and I really didn't care enough to look it up.  I'm sorry, I just didn't.

Shatner also interviews Chris Pine from the 2009 Star Trek movie.
