CCEE Stampers-embossing challenge

I'm up before daylight and the birds are chirping out in the woods like crazy. They're so happy Spring is here and guess what, so am I! The dogwoods and azaleas are just about through blooming  and that's very strange because usually they haven't even begun blooming at this time.

But, today is about poppies. I just love them and my set is called Poppies and Greetings and is from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps. This is my first time to use this set and I find it very easy for coloring. I'm also using a sketch from Splitcoaststampers, SC330.

Cindy Haffner gave the challenge this week at CCEE STAMPERS to do embossing on our cards. I have used my Swiss Dot embossing folder for the panel behind my poppies and the strip above my checked paper. My buttons are also embossed.

You know you love embossing so we hope you'll join us this week.

Recipe:
Stamps: Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps-Poppies and Greetings Clear Stamp Set

Stampin' B's-Poppies

I absolutely love poppies and this one is by Mark's Finest Papers called Poppies, Poppies, Poppies. This week Emily is hostess for the Stampin' B's Design Team and asked that we use a clip or pin of any kind. I made my stick pin with beads from Jo-Ann Stores. My card is really easy to make. I used an embossing folder from Sizzix called ornate frames. I colored my poppies with Copics and cut out and colored one extra to pop up at the top. I finished with a ribbon and, of course, the stick pin.

Hope you'll join us this week.

Celebrating Flourishes 4th Birthday!!!! Blog Hop/Challenges

Flourishes is lighting the candles and getting ready to sing to honor their fourth birthday! And, as a way to celebrate, I’m happy to say I was hand-picked to help them have a bit of a party as a designer for their customer appreciation hop! The only challenge here was to create a card or project using my favorite Flourishes stamp set. Read on – I’ll tell you how you can win some Flourishes goodies too!

I love this Flourishes morning glory from the set called A Year in Flowers 2 .  When I was a young girl growing up at my parent's home, the morning glories grew wild and were so gorgeous. I think the wild kind are called bindweed (same family) but look the same to me. It is always good to find stamps that brings back memories of your childhood. You can think about those days as you create your card.
And, for a cute reason I love morning glories--sometimes when I get up in the morning and hubby is already up, I enter the room and he will say, "Morning, Glory". No, Glory is not my name, but I think it is very sweet and always reminds me of the morning glory flower. :-)

My Flourishes sentiment is from the Friendly Reminders set. It was just perfect for the Sizzix die cut I used. I'm always finding great sentiments with my Flourishes sets.

The rest of my recipe is below.

What can you win? Take a peek at this fun and festive blog candy!

If you’d like to learn more about how you can win all of these stamp sets, just click HERE to read up on today’s hop and challenge!

If you arrived here by way of Theresa Winslow, then you are on the right path! If I was your first stop, you'll want to go back to the Flourishes Blog and start this hop from the very beginning! You have until Sept. 1st at 5 PM CST to enter!

Next on the hop: Rosemary Dennis

There are three ways to win. Check it out. Have fun!!!!!!!!!

Recipe:
Stamps: Flourishes-A Year in Flowers 2 set, Flourishes Friendly Reminders
Paper: PTI white cardstock, Stampin'Up! Old Olive cardstock, PTI black cardstock, Moxie double-sided dp (Houndstooth and Sr. Year)

A Two-Fer Day

Well, am I bright today or what??!!!!!!! I bought this new embossing folder set called Fall Set by Sizzix (2/pkg.) and when I saw the Splitcoast Free for All challenge today (embossing), I was ready to use it. It is very bright and I had a bit of a time trying to get a good photo. I used a Marvy clever lever embossing punch called Oak Leaf and stamped my sentiment using a barrel of alphabet stamps I picked up at Hobby Lobby. The twine is Cappuccino.

It is also Queen for the Day challenge #74 on Splitcoast today. The newly crowned Queen is Carolyn aka snowmanqueen. I can't believe I didn't do a snowman card as I love them soooooo much. This is the card I cased.  The image is Stampendous Star Lilies and the sentiment is Flourishes Zinnias. Colored with Copics, used a doily, and punched a Martha Stewart classic butterfly on which I stamped the sentiment I have on my Spellbinder nested pennant. The dp in unknown and the blue cardstock is DCWV and a terra-cotta cardstock.

Have a wonderful weekend!!!!!

Some Needed Therapy

Today was an extremely hard day. I belong to a praise and worship choir of appx. 200 people and our leader passed away over the weekend after heart surgery. Everyone is in disbelief and very sad. His funeral was held today. He was a retired school principal and knew zillions of people. Plus, he had lead several church choirs, including mine, over the years. The last concert we had with him was during the W.C. Handy Festival in our city, a yearly event.  We were in concert with Ivan Parker, a Christian solo recording artist. I'm so glad we had that last concert with him as it is the biggest and best of the year.  He will be missed greatly.

My card is entered into the Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge, FTTC131. We are to use pink, one button, ribbon, and lace. My pink as you can see is not a soft pink but pink just the same. I colored these pretty clematis with Copics and popped up one bloom. For my sentiment I am using a Spellbinders Shapeabilities nested pennant. Added a button, ribbon, and lace...all done!

The sketch I used is from  The Sweet Stop.

I want to enter my card into the Paper Crafting Journey challenge #17-Anything Goes
Recipe:
Stamps: Flourishes Butterflies and Blossoms, Flourishes Humming Along (sentiment)
Paper: PTI white and black, misc. pink cardstock, Moxie double-sided houndstooth/Senior Year

Framed Sentiment

Today on Splitcoaststampers, I did the Queen for the Day challenge and cased this card. It belongs to Jenna Barber. Of course, I made a few changes along the way.  And, the FA477 challenge on SCS was to create a frame. I framed my sentiment after seeing this idea in a scrapbook store last weekend. I walked by the table and I think they had been having a class and there it was. I liked it and just had to buy the Fiskars small lever punch called Flowers and make my own.

I am entering my card into these challenges:
Speedy the Cat's Blog Challenge #67-Make a card any size or shape other than a standard 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"   My card is a 5 x 5 square

Getting Some Nectar

Birthday is the challenge this week at Tuesday Throwdown, challenge #61. Hope you'll play along this week. You know you need a birthday card. :-)
Tuesday Throwdown is sponsored this week by Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps. I am using the Hummingbird with Scripture image. Because it was a birthday challenge, I didn't use any of the scripture in the set so I would have room for the HB sentiment.

I colored with Copics and made my flower 3D by stamping three times and cutting out twice, then popping on. Of course, I did sponging in three colors...still loving it.
I used a Spellbinder lattice rectangles die, added a ribbon, flower, and a tag.

I'm entering my card into Frosted Designs challenge which is coloring this week. I did my coloring of the hummingbird and flowers with Copics.

My Favorite Flower????? No, although,...............

This week at Flourishes Timeless Tuesday blog challenge (FTTC129), Betty Wright asked that we use our favorite flower or flowers on our card or project. Truth is, the tulip is my all time favorite. I just didn't have a Flourishes tulip image nor any I wanted to use. Soooooooooo, pansies are one of my favorites, therefore, I chose to use this image.
Yes, I have been sponging a lot lately. That was one of the things I wanted to work on this year and I've enjoyed doing it so much, I can hardly stop. Plus, I like the fact that it makes my image pop. I'll have a card posted tomorrow with NO sponging. But, believe me, that image will need nothing to help it pop.:-) If you don't like orange, look away. Ha

Tuesday Throwdown-Stitchy Bear Digital Stamps

This week, challenge #58 at Tuesday Throwdown is being sponsored by Stitchy Bear Digital Stamps and I'm using their beautiful hydrangea image. The challenge is to use something metallic. I punched my butterflies using metallic paper. The hydrangea was so easy to color and so much fun. I added some adhesive pearls and gemstones for the leaves and swirls. Of course, I'm using my favorite Cuttlebug embossing folder, 'Textile'.  For my image to fit the nestabilitie I used, I did an out-of-the-box technique on one of the leaves.
Add a pretty ribbon, sentiment, and corners and that's it.

Cyclamen from the Garden

This week the hostess of the Stampin' B's Design Team, Faith, asked us to use two different dies and piercing on our card. Well, I ended up with three dies but because there are no rules on our challenge, I'm A-OK. The piercing was done with the die still in the nestabilitie making it really easy.  This is for challenge #117. We hope you'll play along. If so, just use the inlinkz tool to upload your card.

I'm using a Flourishes image called A Year in Flowers-calendar set 3- for my image. I chose Cyclamen and did a bit of masking and stamped the image twice. I really love it. I colored with Copics and gave the white area some sponging with Memento Dandelion ink. The sentiment is also from a Flourishes set called Seeds of Friendship. I am entering my card into the Flourishes Timeless Tuesday blog challenge #124. Tammy Hershberger gave us this wonderful sketch this week. Oops! I guess I didn't exactly do the circle as shown on the right side.

Over at Mark's Finest Papers, Speedy the Cat's Friends challenge is given by my good friend, Carol Hurlock. She asked that we use a lot of sparkle and bling. I have added the green rhinestones and some sparkle (which may or may not show up very much in my photo) from my Gelly Roll pen, along with a flower button.

For Your Inspiration #8 has a lovely scene for getting you inspired: I loved the earthy tones of the cliffs along with the  green bushes and vines.

Also, my card will be entered into the Splitcoaststampers Fan Club challenge. Their monthly them is 'Text Me'. I computer generated my text which was found at Wikipedia.

Recipe:
Stamps: Flourishes-A Year in Flowers-calendar set 3, Flourishes Seeds of Friendship

Island Beauty

I love Rubber Stamp Tapestry's 3 peg stamp sets. They're easy to use and there is so much you can make with them. Today I'm using their Island Beauty set and just mixing up the colors.

The QFTD66 on Splitcoaststampers is Marie aka momof5sons and I cased this card of hers, changing the stamp set, turning my card, and using a different sentiment and colors. Just mostly kept her design.

My Big Yellow Flower

Today on Splitcoaststampers, the Queen for the Day #65 is Vicki Dutcher. I wanted to case this card of hers.  I am mostly just keeping the sketch. I am using a big flower instead of a butterfly and different papers/ribbon. I want to enter it into the Dirty Dozen Monthly Theme challenge on SCS which is 'Text Me' so I used my text background stamp.

Use it Tuesday #9-Use your unused dies, punches, cut-outs.  Mine is the large flower die cut by Sizzix  called Flower, Beauty Bloom that I've had for about a month and never used. I did my flower with Stampin'Up! Crushed Curry and a soft Martha Stewart yellow paper and sponged the tips on the middle layer with SU Crushed Curry ink.

Hisbiscus

Another Friday and it is time or a new QFTD on Splitcoaststampers. This week it is Pam aka bailmac.
Here is the card I cased. My image was too large to slant like hers.  I do love how she used her spiral punch.
My card was also for the Free for All challenge on SCS. It was Anything Goes with a twist to use something that is a freebie. Mine was the designer paper from a paper pad given to me by my sister.

Flourishes Timeless Tuesday FTTC117-A Double Dose

This week's hostess at Flourishes Timeless Tuesday FTTC117 challenge is Betty Wright and she gave the 'Anything Goes' challenge. Who doesn't love that?
This is my second week to be Guest Designer for the team and I decided to use the beautiful Humming Along set. The card at the top is the one I finally settled on but did another one first:
I thought this one may be a bit too much but I guess that depends on whether you like more or less color.
It was easy to take off the top layer of nestabilities as they were on embossed paper and then just layer them onto white embossed cardstock.

I used the Spellbinders Grand Nestabilities Labesl 4 and the regular Labels 4 die cut. Copics were used for coloring and I am using my favorite Cuttlebug embossing folder in the top photo, Textiles. The hummingbird was stamped, colored, cut out, and popped up. I did an 'out of the box' on the image to get it to fit the nestabilitie (bottom leaf). I stamped another leaf to add to with the sentiment, ribbon, and stick pin.

Hope you'll join the team the week for the challenge. Be sure to check the rules and  leave a comment on the team's blogs.

Featured Stamper

Yesterday on Splitcoaststampers, Reddyisco was named Featured Stamper of the week. Believe me, she has an awesome gallery and I would love to case a million of her cards. She uses lots of baby's breath, vines, etc. in the corners of so many of her cards and they are so beautiful. I cased this card.

I made only one layer and it was a really, easy card. I had recently purchased a Rubber Stamp Tapestry set of 3 peg stamps called Sunny Daisy. I used it for the flowers and little branches in the corner. The other longer vine is Stampabilities Berryvine Border. The sentiment and side swirl are Flourishes stamps.
I have embossed the side swirl using gold ink and clear embossing powder. I really love my color and the ribbon...hope you do, too.

Spring in the Garden

When I did my last post, we were expecting some terrible weather (last Friday). Thankfully, it came and went without any damage or very little in my area. Unfortunately, that was not the case for so many. Today
is a beautiful day so I am uploading a card full of Spring Joy...that is the name of the stamp I'm using and I absolutely love it. It is from OnyXXpressions.
I'm using a Martha Stewart Quilted border punch and every time I use it, I think it looks like frogs-lots of them. LOL I'm sure that is not what it is supposed to be, but I see them and think they look rather cute in
my Spring garden.

This week on Splitcoaststampers, Sue aka coffeestamper, was named Featured Stamper. I cased this card of Sue's after flipping and making a few changes. I'm hoping Sue has a fun week.

I am entering my card into the Cupcake Craft Challenge-#138 -Lot of Layers. Not counting my base card, I have used 4 layers on my card, plus my punched border.

So glad to do the EtsyInspired Challenge #135 because I found this image below that is inspiration for my yellow and red. I almost never use yellow. I like the color but never think my cards look the way I want when I use it. I must say I am pretty much pleased with this one. Here is my inspiration:

This inspiration came from the Etsy store, Creating is Fun and what a super store. You should visit and see some of her wonderful items.

Primrose

We're under a tornado watch with a promise of worse weather this afternoon, so I am going to hurry up with this post in case I need to leave my house for a shelter, which is very likely.

I made the card for these challenges: QFTD56 on SplitcoastStampers. The Queen is CarrollAnn aka MrsBoz. I chose this card of hers to case. I made some changes, of course, but used her layout and a punch
around the page.

I colored my image with Copics, cut out leaves, curled them a bit, and popped them. I sponged around the flower while still in the Spellbinders Labels14 die cut. Added ribbon and a pearl. The punch around the page is a Martha Stewart called Flower Patch.

A Black Tie Affair

Just a quick upload. I wanted to join in the Featured Stamper challenge today on SCS and the stamper is Elaine aka Quixotic. This is the card I chose to case. Her coloring is outstanding but I didn't use an image to color.

My card also fits the Dirty Dozen challenge this month on Splitcoaststampers which is a black tie party. I wanted it to be elegant and I hope I achieved that.

I used a Heartfelt Creations precut stamp that is cut with the Spellbinders Peony nestabilitie. I stamped three times on black cardstock with VersaMark, then embossed with white embossing powder. Cut the flower with the die cut and popped up. Then, I added the little, red gemstone.

I am entering Amber's Crafts and Stuff - challenge #2-Use Die Cuts

My Favorite Flower-Tulips

Today on SCS, the Queen for the Day #50 is Kim aka Luv Flowers. I chose to case this card of hers.
It is a really simple card and I don't think there is much explanation needed. I stamped my tulips three times and cut out the bloom and popped up twice. Of course, there is some paper tearing.

I am entering my card into the challenges:
