My Favorites | From the Winter Issue of Scrapbook & Cards Today Magazine

Did you happen to see my other project featured in the latest issue of Scrapbook & Cards Today Magazine (Winter 2020)? You can find it here or you can download the full issue here (which i recommend doing anyways!).

It is part of an article about "Things that we love" and I used the Love Notes collection from Doodlebug Design to create a 9x12 pocket page about my current favorites.
Have you recorded your current favorites? It's important because it will help you remember some of the little things and it's a wonderful way for your family to know more about you, now or much, much later...

Summer planner set up with Hey Cupcake! | Doodlebug Design

This post first appeared on the Doodlebug blog.
Happy June! I am very much looking forward to Summer days, light and breezy, maybe sitting on the patio with a lemonade in hand. It's with this sunny feeling that I decorated my planner using the just released Hey Cupcake! collection, plus All Occasion stamps and dies from Doodlebug Design.
I am using a Daily Doodles Travel Planner along with a blank Calendar insert. The paper quality is awesome for stamping and I like the monthly view.
Here is a peak at the early process for this spread. I started with stamping the dates using a small banner stamp from the All Occasions-Holiday set and numbers from the Calendar-Handwritten set and then I moved on to washi tape and stickers.
Next I added a heart trim from the All Occasion Borders and Edges die set and a couple of events with the All Occasion-Everyday and Holiday stamp sets.
Even though it is geared towards birthdays, the Hey Cupcake! collection is proving to be perfect for much more than that. I am now ready to celebrate the warmer days and the end of the school year in the cutest possible way!

Hey Cupcake! Pocket Letter

I hope you had a wonderful long weekend. I am back today with my newest project created with Doodlebug Design adorable Hey Cupcake collection: a new pocket letter and I love how it turned out!
For the first time, I used a larger 9x12 page protector so not only did I have more pockets to decorate and fill but it also meant that I could use two of the smaller cards in the Hey Cupcake Cards & Envelopes pack. I just had to slide the back of the cards in the pocket leaving the front out as a flap. All the other backgrounds were cut from the 6x6 Hey Cupcake paper pad.
I pulled several die-cuts from the Chit Chat and the Odds & Ends packs as my main decorations. I also made my own with several Doodlebug Cuts metal dies, such as the Nesting Scallops, Large Tags and All Occasion sets.
You can really include anything you want in those pocket! Some of mine have little treats like a few doilies, a pack of Doodle-pops, an envelope full of cut-up cards and a pocket of die-cut tickets. Of course, shiny sequins in a see-thru pocket always add a fun touch!
I am sure this pocket letter will make a young girl smile extra wide on her birthday! And bonus: I had a lot of fun making it :)

A loaded embroidery hoop with Hey Cupcake!

Hello, I am here today to share a new project created for the Scrapbook & Cards Today Magazine blog. It's my first "loaded hoop". The idea is to use an embroidery hoop, to make a pocket in it and to pack it with goodies to be mailed. This one was made using the Hey Cupcake collection by Doodlebug Design:
Supplies | Patterned paper, Shape stickers, Pre-made die-cut shapes, Button, Clothespin, Sequins, Gems, Twine, Doilies: Doodlebug Design; Tools: We R Memory Keepers Fuse tool; Adhesive: Tombow; Other: misc. ribbons, embroidery hoop, page protector, paper clip, shaped sequins.

This new collection has the sweetest icons and was perfect to make this small gift!
My favorite is the shaker pocket in the front. It's a half moon shape cut out of a page protector, filled with sequins and sealed with the Fuse tool. It is then glued to the top edge of the hoop and that allows you to add a variety of small goodies inside. I included a couple of cute packages along with doilies and mini cards from the 6x6 Hey Cupcake paper pad. I didn't have any on hand but you could replace these goodies with some cute candy!
Finally, I decorated the front of the hoop with dimensional Doodle-Pop stickers, gems, die-cuts and ribbons making sure i had texture and depth, not to mention playful colors!

Interested in making one of these yourself? If you're on Instagram, I recommend you check the #loadedhoop hashtag (and YouTube!) where you will find tons of inspiration. And speaking of inspiration, I hope you have already downloaded the Spring issue of SCT Magazine! It's free online and it's beautiful!

Birthday Wish List mini books for kids (Doodlebug Design)

I am a bit sad for the kids celebrating birthdays during these social distancing days but today I have a cute craft to do with them (or for them) that might help. I think they will enjoy filling out these cute wish list mini books even if the party/presents only come later. I used the brand new Hey Cupcake and Party Time collections from Doodlebug Design to create a girl and a boy version.
You will find a video tutorial below on how to build the base of the mini books. The younger kids can then draw while the older ones can handwrite their wishes on the blank pages. The rest can be decorated with patterned papers, diecuts and stickers.
You can create a book with just a 12x12 sheet of paper, white cardstock (or even copy paper) and glue. Here is the video:

Now fill out the book using colorful pens or markers!

Finally here is a super quick video showing the inside pages of each mini book:

I hope you have fun with this cute project, whether you are 7 or 77! Happy crafting!

Spring Happy Mail | Doodlebug Design

Did you know that April is National Letter Writing Month? Now more than ever, I believe sending (and receiving!) something in the mail can help us all feel more connected. Using mostly the Simply Spring collection by Doodlebug Design, I am sharing a few things you can create to accompany a letter/note.
In a large homemade vellum enveloppe, I have included a small note decorated with a Doodle-pop, a couple flower Cute Clips, a sunny Doodle-pop with an embellished topper, a little pocket filled with goodies and two shaker tags/bookmarks. I wrapped everything with twine and made a tag out of a truck die-cut adding an enamel frog at the window and a sentiment with my new All Occasion stamps on top.
Here is a short video on how to make this little flat mail pocket. Once done, all you have to do is fill it up with goodies!
Next, I created a couple of shaker banner tags/bookmarks with page protector scraps that I cut, fused and filled with die-cuts, sequins and glitter. I also added word stickers and shape sprinkles on top and, ribbon in the corner.
Here is the tutorial (by Inkie Quill) that inspired me: DIY Embellishments/Gift Tags.

Finally, here is a look at the entire package as I open it:
I hope that you now feel the urge to create something extra special to send to a friend or family member. Grab your Doodlebug favorites and make something to brighten their day!

March planner pages with the All Occasion stamps from Doodlebug Design

Edited to add: I wrote this post for the Doodlebug Design blog before all the Covid-19 madness hit us. Since then I have had to make some adjustments in my planner but I still believe that planning your days helps tremendously when you're in confinement...

I had lost my planner-decorating mojo lately but as soon as I received the new All Occasion collection stamps I couldn't wait to jump back into it! The Holidays and Everyday sets are perfect for planners, not to mention the Calendar stamps!
They have tons of icons including some hard to find like Canada Day or Hanukkah. I paired the stamps with the Simply Spring collection to decorate my March monthly pages in a Doodlebug Travel Planner insert.

I have filmed part of my process so that you could see how I approached this spread. I was excited to find that the numbers from the Handwritten Calendar set fit perfectly into the tiny flag stamp from the Holidays set.
I followed by selecting icons from both the Holidays and Everyday sets to record events during the month. I love how cute they look! I finished with stickers, washi tapes, patterned papers and a Doodle Pop.

I love how Springy my pages ended up looking. A pretty planner is definitely more motivating!
Below is the supply list. Thank you for stopping by today and please take care of yourselves 💚

I Heart Travel Happy Mail with a miniature pocket letter tutorial (Doodlebug Design)

Hello I am back today to share another example of happy mail that could brighten someone's day. I grabbed the awesome I ♥ Travel collection from Doodlebug Design (affiliate link) because I wanted to place all my goodies into a suitcase and develop my inserts on that theme.
I first created the suitcase itself by following this tutorial on You Tube, with a few variations (like the buckles that I hand cut). But the most fun was making the goodies that I was sending in it including the smallest pocket letter ever!
I started with a little booklet in which I put the cut apart postcards from the 12x12 Wish You Were Here paper. I also hand cut and strung several mini banners placing them into a small package I made for them. Finally, my favorite, I created a miniature pocket letter that fits perfectly into the suitcase.
It barely measures 3x4 inches and I will show you how you can create one too.
You will need a pocket page protector with a 3x4 pocket that you can cut. I had a leftover piece that worked perfectly. You can then cut little "cards" measuring 3/4"x1 1/8"to place in it. The next step is to design your pocket letter, first on top on the pocket, so you will know what will go inside and what will be adhered on top.
I used a mix of Mini Icons stickers, Doodle pop, Sprinkles, paper, twine and sequins. You first have to start with the bottom row which you will seal with a fuse tool. If you do not have one, you can also use a sewing machine.
The next step is to fuse the vertical lines before doing the last horizontal one. Spread things evenly before sealing and be careful not to shift things too much as you do.
To finish, decorate the top of the tiny pockets. You can add a little twine tassel if you'd like.
Isn't this the tiniest pocket letter you have ever seen?
Here is a short "unboxing" video:

Another happy mail: Loaded envelope with mini pocket letter (Doodlebug Design)

I am back today with another happy mail project created with Doodlebug Design's Love Notes collection. Even though Valentine's Day is long gone, i still find many uses for this favorite collection. This cute little package is perfect to celebrate a friend's birthday, just to say hello or for a happy mail swap!

Inspired by this tutorial by Septeria 18, I first created an envelope with a piece of 6x6 paper from the Love Notes paper pad. I inserted a tag and some doilies in the big pocket and a few more goodies in the smaller front pocket: tiny tags, diecuts and stickers.
I also created a two-sided mini pocket letter with more goodies inside and a shaker pocket:
Folded in three, it fits nicely in the big pocket of the envelope. For another look here is a short video:
If you're inspired by this post to create some sweet happy mail, I would love to see it! Make sure to tag me on Instagram or leave me a comment here so that I can admire them!

Custom Anniversary Pop & Twist card (with Doodlebug Design)

Hello crafty friends! February being the month of love I know quite a few people will be celebrating a wedding anniversary, and that includes my parents. So today I'm excited to share with you a card I created especially for them with Doodlebug Design's Love Notes collection.
The surprise is that it is a pop and twist card that I customized with their photo and a handwritten note:
I found a tutorial on YouTube which requires very minimal tools so anybody can make it: Twist & Pop Card Tutorial. Other than the cardstock, doily and Fancy Frills sticker on the cover, all the supplies are from the Love Notes collection.
I used 12x12 sheets for the inside and the outside of the card itself and papers from the 6x6 pad to decorate the accordion part. I pulled two die-cuts from the Odds & Ends pack: a blooming envelope for the cover and a heart garland that I put across the fold. All three sentiments come from the This & That sticker sheet. I also included two Doodle-pops as they add just a little dimension to the project without making it too bulky.
Below is a short video of the card "in action":

I hope this inspires you to create a heartfelt card for someone's anniversary (or your own!). The Love Notes collection is perfect for it! Making it "pop" and customization are optional but highly recommended :)

Love Notes Portfolio (with Doodlebug Design)

It's the start of February and to celebrate the month of love, I will be sharing a new project I created with Doodlebug Design Love Notes collection (on sale right now at scrapbook.com). Instead of sending a Valentine's Day card, I will be mailing this little portfolio to a lovely friend of mine:
The base of the portfolio was created with different but matching Doodlebug cardstock and was inspired by the step-by-step on Margys Paper Games blog. I made it my own with a few changes, including in the size of the final project which is 6.5 by 5 inches.
I absolutely love the colors and the patterned papers in this collection and used several inside and outside of the portfolio. I decorated with die-cuts and stickers but also added several embellishments as little presents inside some of the pockets.
I had fun creating small packages of my "own" embellishments with mini envelopes, some of the Valentine's Paperclips I shared here a couple of weeks ago and even a shaker card.
You can see all of them in the video I am sharing below:

Anybody you know deserves more than a card this month? I am sure a little happy mail like this, full of pretty surprises, would put a smile on anybody's face!
