Guest Designing for Citrus Twist Kits: September Pocket Pages

Hello friends! I am excited to share that I am guest designing for Citrus Twist Kits this month! I was on their very first design team a while back (You can actually see all the work I did for them by clicking on the Citrus Twist category in the right column). I shared a little bit about me on their blog this weekend but I will only share my first project here.

The September release inspired me to work on my 2020 family pocket album and I found so many great elements to create a monthly "everyday life" spread.

When I am sitting down to create, I get a lot of ideas from the products themself. As soon as I received my box of goodies, I opened the "Feels Like Home" ephemera pack and I selected my favorite die-cuts that ended up being my starting points.
I loved layering them in several spots on my pages.
Because most of my photos were rather dark, I chose to use the light pink, peachy and yellow toned journaling cards from the "Everyday Life" pack and printed a sheet from the "Coming Home" Ledger digital papers (one sheet is perfect to create two 4x6 cards).
I added stitching details and enamel dots here and there for texture and typed my journaling on a manual typewriter.
If you are short on words, like I usually am, try using bullet points organized in highs and lows. They give a good snapshot of your week or month and don't require a lot of thinking!

Thank you for stopping by! I will be back soon with a second project that I am working on.

CTK

Hello there! I have made the announcement on the Citrus Twist blog a couple of days ago to let everyone know that I was stepping down from my position as Design Team member at the end of the month. So now, you know as well :) I have been on Trina's Design Team since her very first kits went on sale, exactly 3 years ago. To give you an idea of all that has happened since I started, here is my very last page for CTK:
nathalie_CTK600_ctkmay2015
nathalie_CTKcloseup3_ctkmay2015
The collage shows one layout from each kit I received and I created the page with my last one, the May "Life Is..." + Sprinkles kits (available HERE). I wanted to include a brown paper bag from the kit as they are such a trademark of CTK to me (it even looks like goodies are coming out :)
nathalie_CTKcloseup_ctkmay2015 nathalie_CTKcloseup2_ctkmay2015
This page is an homage to my time with Citrus Twist Kits. I am very grateful for the chance Trina gave me. It has been a wonderful adventure but now I need to refocus a bit. My house has been a disaster for months now, I have had health issues (nothing serious!), my oldest is in the process of picking colleges (!!!) and finally, creatively it was time for a change.

But I sure hope you will continue to stop by here as I intend to keep on creating!

Together

Happy Monday dear friends! I am back today to share another 12x12 page created with the May "Life Is..." kit from Citrus Twist Kits (available here). The patterned papers and colors in this kit are beautiful!

nathalie_together_CTKmay2015

I wanted to emphasize the triangle paper from Webster's Pages ("These are the days") and found inspiration for my design from a sketch on the Scrap-Map blog (see below). Once the two big triangles were sewed on the background paper, I gathered my layered photo which measures 4x6.5 inches and embellishments in the center.

And here's a look at the sketch:
My youngest and his dad still enjoy this fishing spot and since I am almost never with them, I am glad I caught this shot a few years back.
Have a great week! I will be back soon to share one last page with this kit...

Art in the desert

Bonjour! I am here today to share a new page created for Citrus Twist Kits. The May kits have been fully revealed and are available for purchase HERE. The Main and Sprinkles kits had the perfect colors and touches for my photos taken in the Californian desert:

nathalie_artinthedesert_CTKmay2015

I used quite a few metallic accents as the sculptures are made of metal and I loved the Native American feel of the chevron paper ("Tribal" by Crate Paper) which is my favorite in the main kit!

nathalie_artinthedesertcloseup_CTKmay2015

While making this page, I found out that there was actually a whole park of those sculptures (http://www.desertusa.com/borrego/bs-art.html) and some look way better that what I captured on the side of the road! There's even a sea dragon!!! So now I want to go back! :)

Hugs

Sometimes you need a card for someone who really needs a hug...

nathalie_hugscard_CTKmay2015
This one was created with the brand new Citrus Twist Kits main kit and Sprinkles add-on. If you missed the May reveal it is all on the blog, here.
My design was inspired by this sketch for the Winnie & Walter/Pink Fresh Studios NSD card challenge:

If you want to play along too, you can enter until May 9th ;)
Happy Sunday!

Hello Sauve (France)

Happy Monday! Did you create something this weekend? I did! I also went on a bike ride for the first time in a long while and, this morning, some of my muscles are telling me that I need to do it more often! :P
This is my third and last project with the April Citrus Twist Kits using the main kit only:

nathalie_helloSauve_CTKapril2015
I only added half a doily from my stash. The photos are from 2007 but I thought they would look great with the Amy Tangerine map paper (Rise and Shine "Rachel") and the flowers from the Crate Paper Craft Market ephemera pack.

Journaling: "On the road to the Viaduc de Millau, we stopped by the little village of Sauve, a medieval village built directly on the rock." Isn't it lovely?

Just for you

I created this card and little gift set for someone a little while back but never shared them here:
cardandclips
Supplies: Citrus Twist March "Sprinkles" and "Love Letters" kits (still available here), gold paper clips from Staples

As soon as I saw those unique embellishments from the Sprinkles kit, I knew I wanted to decorate paper clips with them:

Happy Sunday!

8 is great!

I am back today to share another page from my April Citrus Twist Kits. It is an 8.5x11 page with an older, less than perfect, photo... but I just couldn't resist the smile :)

nathalie_8isgreat_CTKapril2015
A bit of layering and yes, I used an entire set of alpha stickers as a patterned paper. I love its color and watercolor effect! (it's by Webster's Pages). Have you done that before?nathalie_8isgreatcloseup_CTKapril2015

Thank you for stopping by! I will be back here on Friday with my last and possibly favorite page with these kits.
A bientôt!

Almost ready to fly

Happy Monday my friends! I am the host of this week's new sketch challenge over on the Citrus Twist blog and this is the layout I created for it with the brand new April Main and Embellishment kits:
nathalie_almostready1000_CTKapril2015
Kits used: April 2015 "Flight of Whimsy" main kit, "Adorable" embellishment kit
From my stash: date stamp, yellow enamel dots, ink

nathalie_almostreadycloseup_CTKapril2015 nathalie_almostreadycloseup2_CTK2015
The Pink Fresh Studios puffy stickers were my favorite item in the embellishment kit! They are modern and add just the right amount of color and texture.

Here is the original sketch:
My first thought was: square photos = perfect for IG/phone photos but I could also see one long panoramic photo instead. Also, I loved the large circle right away, which then became the placement for my title. What do you think? Are you inspired by this sketch?

Thank you for stopping by and have a great week!

Celebrate

This little goody bag filled with chocolates will be given -and probably ripped early- tomorrow morning but I made sure to take a photo to share it with you first :)

nathalie_Eastergoodybag_CTKapril2015
It was created with the brand new April Main and Embellishment kits from Citrus Twist. I just decorated the brown bag that had all the embellishments in it. The bunny is from the Craft Market collection by Crate Paper and the epoxy stickers are from Pink Fresh Studios (exclusive).

We are celebrating Easter AND the start of Spring Break! Yessssss!

Petra

Happy Friday! As I am about to start playing with my April kit from Citrus Twist, I realized that I never shared my last layout with the March kit. It's an 8.5x11 page with a large photo:

nathalie_petra_CTKmar2015

My bravest move on this page was to add watercolors directly on the camera embellishment before adding my title on it:
nathalie_petracloseup_CTKmar2015

Now I have about another 100 something photos to scrap from our day in Petra but figured that I had to start somewhere, and the colors in this kit were perfect for it! It is still available for sale HERE.

Thank you for stopping by! I am terribly behind in my blog reader so my apologies if I have not visited you in a while!

Cousins

It seems like I have been making more 8.5x11 pages lately because here is another one! The layout is a bit more vibrant in real life and maybe I shouldn't have used a grey background but I still like the centered design with the Crate Paper frame cut in two:

nathalie_cousins_CTKmar2015

I wanted an "old world" feel since the photo was taken in Porto, Portugal in an awesome older building converted into a shop. The flowery pattern paper and gold vellum accent convey that feel for me. And the black accents mirror the black leather couch in the photo.

nathalie_cousinscloseup_CTKmar2015

Do you like to change format or do you stick to just one? Does it bother you later in your album?

Thank you for stopping by! Have a beautiful and crafty weekend!

Iconic

I am hosting a new challenge today on the Citrus Twist blog and wanted to share with you the page I created for it:

nathalie_iconicwithbanner_CTKmar2015
It was created with the March main kit "Sweet" and the "Sprinkles"'kit (both available at citrustwistkits.com) and features photos from our quick visit to London last summer. Here are a few details:

So if you are looking for inspiration or a little motivation (yes, there's a prize to win), head on over there and play with me ;)
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Hello

I have just received my March CTK kit but before I jump into that box I wanted to share the last project I have made with the February "Love letters" kit (still available HERE):

nathalie_hellowithbanner_CTKfeb2015
Once again, I used the fabulous Dear Lizzy gold word stickers and the constellation paper from Crate Paper (my absolute favorites in this kit!). I also decided to add hand stitching to one of the Kiss Kiss cut outs:
nathalie_hellocloseup2_CTKfeb2015

The rest is pretty straight forward because I really wanted the photo to be the center of attention. It was taken recently for the "on top" prompt of Fat Mum Slim Photo a Day challenge on Instagram. Can you see the people on top? :) And yes, I love where I live!
Have a fabulous day!

18 Years / Love

Happy Monday! There's a new challenge every Saturday on the Citrus Twist blog called 3 to Inspire and I was the host of the last one. We basically offer you three elements to incorporate into a page or a PL spread in order to hopefully get you inspired!

My three elements are:
      1. Use several types of hearts
      2. Include at least one photo with YOU in it
      3. Use pop/foam dots to create dimension

And here is my interpretation of this challenge created exclusively with the February Main kit "Love Letters":
nathalie_18yearswithbanner_CTKfeb2015

Not counting the Crate Paper Constellation paper, I used two of my favorite elements from the kit: the Dear Lizzy Gold word stickers and the Kiss Kiss Gold Foil Cut Outs.
Some close-ups:
nathalie_18yearscloseup2_CTK2015

If you follow this blog, you will recognize the photo and the quote I used from a "One Photo & Twenty Words" post (December's). One of the reasons I love this blog même so much is the way you can easily turn it into a scrapbook page!

Thank you for stopping by. If you decide to play along, link me up to your creation!

Valentine's Day

Since tomorrow is Valentine's Day, I wanted to share some cards I created with the February Citrus Twist kit. They both use cards from the Kiss Kiss Gold Foil Cut Outs page included in the Main kit ♥︎

For this first clean and layered card, I was inspired by Challenge #28 over at the Card Concept:

This second card, which my husband will get tomorrow, was inspired by a sketch from {Mojo Monday}:
If you haven't already, you still have time to create a quick card for your loved one(s) tomorrow. Maybe even use a challenge to help you out?

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!

#FMSphotoaday

As you saw in my previous post, I joined the Fat Mum Slim photo a day challenge on Instagram. I had been thinking about it for a while but it is only when I recently made my account public that it became interesting to join. I didn't really know what to expect or how long I would keep it up... my main goal was to take more photos, especially photos of things (Sian is an inspiration for that!) and I have to say, it is working! So far...

And it has even given me a story to scrap:

nathalie_fmsphotoaday_CTKfeb2015 I created this page with the February Citrus Twist Main kit. I just love that "security envelope" print on the B side of the Pink Paislee "Rainbow Bright" paper!
Here are a couple of close ups:

nathalie_#fmscloseup3_CTKfeb2015 nathalie_#fmscloseup2_CTKfeb2015 nathalie_#fmscloseup_CTKfeb2015
I just realized that I should have tucked in the daily prompts somewhere to give more meaning to some of these shots... back to the table it goes :)

Thank you for stopping by!
