Beetle hunt

After spending so much time on fishing trip....... this weekend I went up to Fraser's Hill for a break with my family and friend............ Of course I will not skip the chance of catching some beetles........... Here my friend from Taiwan and I trying a light trap by the road side............
This lamp was a gift from my Taiwan friend who himself is also a bug maniac too........we started the light trap from sunset till 10:00pm and nothing interesting turn up....... Am I trying at a wrong place or wrong season here?!........ Finally, this stag beetle showed up when we were just about to pack up............We also try a Light trap at the balcony of the rented apartment.............. Many moths turned up that night........
Here comes some beetles............This was the only one stag beetle that I collected that night, a male stag beetle Cyclommatus Lunifer.........My Taiwanese friend brought over some of his self bred beetles for me...... he is much crazy about beetles compared to me............Wow! UNBELIEVABLE - Live beetle all the way from Taiwan!!! A beautiful Malayan Dorcus antaeus from the Lucanidae family, all this while this is the only species that have eluded me and which I have not collected even one yet..........
Wow! Look at this, it's a great horn beetle from South America Dynastes hercules ecuatorianus of the Dynastidae family..........

Family outing

Last week, me and my family went up to Fraser's Hill for a refreshing weekend....... On our way there, we passed by the Kuala Kubu Bahru Dam....... Look at the dam, my god this is the first time I saw the water level of this dam dropped this low. And one of the inlet also dry up, leaving a small stream, snaking itself through the valley...... I wonder where the fishes have gone. Maybe it is a very good chance to fish here now.......

This is our accommodation at Pine Resort.......
Lok Si was excited and had fun running around the balcony......Wow! My dear, isn't it too early to learn Pole Dancing.....
At night, I caught a couple of giant beetle Chalcosoma caucasus (Dynastidae family).....Awesome! The view in front of the Pine Resort......
Having fun at the park...... Fraser's Hill is indeed a wonderful place for a family outing.........

Beetle Hunt

It was the third time to Fraser's Hill for my 11 month old little princess....... For the very first time she can hold onto the swing by herself....Light trap at the balcony.......
My curious little princess daring to grapple everything she see....... Giant Cicada is like a toy to her now......A lot of insects came to the light trap, but not many beetles did...... So, we went out to search under lamp posts and lighted area near by our apartment. Here was the harvest, a male stag beetle Cyclommatus Lunifer....... cute hah!Not far away from the toilet's light beside the guarthouse lay a rarely found precious male Rhaetulus Didieri........ Wow! it was my lucky day........
Compared to my existing collection of the Rhaetulus Didieri which is 93mm in size, this one is just a tiny one........
