Home School animal painting by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan

Home School animal painting by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan
This is so big at 24x48inches. I started this large painting quickly realizing that I was in over my head and then I said to myself...Just breathe. Soon I was lovin painting cows again and everything went fine. It is amazing how sometimes things just turn out ok even when you don't expect it.

Lookin For Chicks rooster painting by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan

Lookin For Chicks rooster painting by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan
A very large rooster at a whooping 30x30x1.5 inches. Wow! What have I learned from painting big?
That Big takes a whole lot of paint. I have enjoyed doing this for a change though. In fact I like it even more than painting little. How can that be I ask? I don't know it is just a pure mystery. I have to admit that I never entertained the thought of painting that large until I went to an art show and saw in person how wonderful Carol Carmichaels paintings were and they were all big so I decided to turn over a new leaf. Hope you enjoy because I am loving them.

Big Sister Still Life painting by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan

Big Sister Still Life painting by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan
Showing you my mistakes makes me feel very wide open so here goes. As you know I paint alla prima for the most part. I painted the top picture and was gonna be done. In fact I thought I was done but I knew I was not happy with the spout on the teapot even though it did protrude out as painted but it just looked odd. I left it over night thinking maybe no one would notice especially since I had added that luscious cherry. Anyway, I got home from work today and decided to add the second teddy bear. ( I made the larger bear out of floral fabric). I am much happier with the end result. 14x11 oil on canvas panel. (I also painted the ceramic teapot).

Squawk Box chicken painting by Alabama artist Angela Sullivan

Squawk Box chicken painting by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan
Well!!! Well!!
Today I started a little journey which included chickens. Well actually I did not start the journey today but last Thursday I think. I received in the mail an rectangular box in the mail. The box was wrapped in a mysterious brown paper. What could it be? I had not ordered anything. I gently removed the brown paper to find inside a white box. Oh my!!! It was the traveling chicken and her friends. I took special care as I cut the wrapper and tape leaving the box unharmed. I kept it for two days before I was brave enough to open it. In side this box was a Styrofoam box. I slowly removed the lid not wanting anything to fall out. First a small piece of bubble wrap and then a cloth bag.I pulled them out one at a time while holding my breath that they are all ok. I removed Ms Chick and knew something was wrong as I saw Senor Gallo Rozzo... His legs were broken but not to worry. I got the super glue and in no time he was as good as new.
