Unexpected Storm landscape painting by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan
Unexpected Storm landscape painting by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan
Sometimes I just want to paint. Well actually I want to paint all the time but time just does not cooperate. I painted this today and like the snow. I have to admit there are a few things maybe I should have done different but this is the finished result. It looks to me a little chaotic and fast but I tell you it was anything but... It is oil on 6x6 gallery wrapped canvas. Painted with love and thought and tears.

Cheery Oh Mr Snowman snowman painting by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan
Cheery Oh Mr Snowman snowman painting by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan
Again this year I felt compelled to paint just one more painting of this snowman. He is a gift from my good friend. I chuckle as I am posting this because I thought something was missing. I was so proud of adding the cherry at the bottom that I forgot to add his green scarf. Funny huh?

For Snow I Am Thankful snow scape by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan
Wow! I can't tell you how much I enjoyed painting this. At first I was worried that it just looked jumbled but as I applied the snow with the palette knife I could feel the energy and couldn't stop looking at it. This is a really nice painting. 7x5 oil on canvas panel snow scape.landscape painting.

Christmas Dreams snowman painting by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan
Christmas Dreams snowman painting by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan
I just must share the cutest story. Recently I posted how that I have my 90 year old mother living with me for awhile. She is wheelchair bound and my life adjustment has been challenging to say the least. She is such a cute little lady with silver hair that wisp around her face creating the sweetest halo. Well needless to say my time to paint or any alone time has really suffered because of my commitment to help take care of her. Today I thought I would get up at 5am so I could paint before she needed me and the chores of life began. I am sitting at my easel smiling and painting when my cell phone rings at about 530. It was mama wanting me to come get her up so we could have coffee. I could do nothing but lay my brushes aside and walk gently down the stairs and open the door to see the prettiest lady I know smiling back at me. I finished this painting in bits and pieces throughout the day. Maybe I just have to learn to paint in short intervals instead of finish a painting in one session. 7x5 oil on canvas

Patches of Snow landscape painting by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan
A small lighthouse I stumbled upon while near Cape Cod. I don't know the name because there was no signs. I loved the charm of the steps leading to the house. It was a sunny day with small patches of snow. Landscape painted with oil on a 6x6 gallery wrapped canvas.

Winter Won't Last Forever winter painting by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan
Winter Won't Last Forever winter landscape painting by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan
I was thinking about warmer weather and sunshine. I wanted to go out and paint today in the great outdoors but it is cool and windy. I am afraid the I don't even want to admit it to myself but I went out painting the other day and I must have arthritis because it was kinda cool and my fingers sure did ache for some while afterward. I enjoyed pushing the blue shadows and decided as an after thought to add the warm yellow flowers gently popping their heads up out of the frozen snow. Maybe tomorrow will be warm. Out of Season by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan
Out of Season by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan
Among the paint props that my daughter gave me for Christmas was this little snowman. I was gonna wait until next Christmas to paint it but sitting there on the shelf I just couldn't resist along with the fact that every time my daughter came over she said Hey mom, when are you gonna paint the snowman. Well here it is. With the snow storms occurring recently this really isn't out of season.
