Silent Hill Downpour: Anne's Story from IDW Publishing

The nightmare-inducing series based on the hit video game series Silent Hill by Konami Digital Entertainment (“Konami”) returns to IDW this summer with a brand new chapter, Silent Hill Downpour: Anne’s Story. Featuring the dark origins of Downpour’s enigmatic antagonist, this new comic book series will delve deeper into the history of prison guard Anne Marie Cunningham… as well as further explore the fog-shrouded haunted town that is caught between realities.

Introduced in Silent Hill Downpour, officer

Anne Cunningham set out on a bloody quest for revenge. The mystery surrounding her journey to Silent Hill, and the terrors she faced upon her arrival will finally be revealed, giving readers an entirely new perspective on the acclaimed video game.

Having written both previous Silent Hill series at IDW, Sinner’s Reward and Past Life, as well as co-written the video game, Silent Hill Downpour, Tom Waltz returns to the foggy town that bleeds horror.

In our new story we can finally present all her grim and dirty secrets to Silent Hill fans, old and new alike.”

Interview with Silent Hill: Revelation 3D's Director Michael J. Bassett

We had the opportunity to interview Michael J. Bassett, director of Silent Hill: Revelation 3D, which opens in theaters this Friday, October 26th. We were able to ask him a couple of questions in regards to Silent Hill: Revelation 3D being a direct sequel to the first, which came out in 2006.

The first question we asked Michael Bassett:

Angry Koala Gear: How did you get involved with being able to make the sequel and how much will taken from the first film?

Michael J. Bassett: My love for the Silent Hill is that I go back to being a gamer. I remember playing Doom, cutting edge computer graphics. Mid 2000's, remember Silent Hill coming out and friends playing it. It was genuinely frightening and the first cinematic level of type theater to come out in a game. While working on Solomon Kane, he would work with Samuel Hadida (producer) who also produced the first Silent Hill. They sat down to talk about ideas, which they would create Silent Hill: Revelations 3D. Silent Hill: Revelation 3D is an adaptation of Silent Hill 3 the game, which is a direct sequel from the original game as well.

Second question to Michael J. Bassett:

Angry Koala Gear: Bringing in the same people to do the score and able to see the Nurses and Pyramind Head, are there going to be other creatures returning and new ones?

Michael J. Bassett: Pyramid Head returns because he is such a powerful monster and a great presence and a lot of monsters will return and a few monsters that I created. I love going to the creature workshops to watch the sculptors and designers bring the monsters to life. If you like a good monster movie this is the best version.

Here is the complete interview with Michael J. Bassett on audio that was with other journalists on the call:

Silent Hill: Revelation 3D at San Diego Comic Con

Growing up the Silent Hill series of video games scared me but it was okay because they were just games. Then when the Silent Hill movie came out and I saw the creepiest characters "come to life" from the games it was different. It was reliving all those sleepless night again. For anyone that played the Silent Hill games, you know what I'm talking about ::ahem:: Pyramid Head.

The possibility of capturing those scary childhood memories are back now that Silent Hill: Revelation 3D is coming.

We had a chance to go to the Silent Hill: Revelation 3D press room during San Diego Comic Con. The panel consisted of actress Adelaide Clemens, who plays Heather Mason, writer and director Michael Bassett, and producer Samuel Hadida.

Silent Hill: Revelation 3D is a sequel to the first movie and is an adaptation from the third Silent Hill game. Even if you know nothing about the world of Silent Hill, Michael Bassett says you don't need to in order to enjoy the movie. He said, "it's a horror journey but also a psychological journey."

IGN shared shared the following with some familiar "faces" from the game. This footage was shared during the Hall H panel.

Silent Hill: Revelation 3D also stars Sean Bean (Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones), Kit Harington (Game of Thrones), Malcolm McDowell, Carrie-Anne Moss (Matrix), Radha Mitchell and Martin Donovan. It comes out just in time for Halloween on October 26, 2012.

If it isn't enough for you to just see the movie you can live the movie. During the panel in Hall H at San Diego Comic Con it was announced that Silent Hill will come to life at Hollywood Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Studios Florida.

Go get scared out of your mind and have what I am sure will be many sleepless nights because of Silent Hill.
