The Hobbit Double Feature 3D HFR at Harkins Theatres

Are you ready for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug? The Angry Koala Gear crew has definitely been waiting this past year for the second part to The Hobbit Trilogy. Harkins Theatres has come through once again with a special event for The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings fans. They are going to have a double feature for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug on Thursday, December 12th beginning at 8:30pm with The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug to follow at midnight. Attendees can choose to see The Hobbit Double Feature in 2D for $15 or in 3D HFR for only $20. We will definitely be catching them in 3D HFR! We were amazed in seeing The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey last year in 3D HFR and look forward to seeing it again along with The Desolation of Smaug.

The adventure first follows the journey of title character Bilbo Baggins, who is swept into an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor from the fearsome dragon Smaug. Approached out of the blue by the wizard Gandalf the Grey, Bilbo finds himself joining a company of thirteen dwarves led by the legendary warrior, Thorin Oakenshield. Their journey will take them into the Wild; through treacherous lands. Bilbo Baggins not only discovers depths of guile and courage that surprise even him, he also gains possession of Gollum's "precious" ring that holds unexpected and useful qualities... A simple, gold ring that is tied to the fate of all Middle-earth in ways Bilbo cannot begin to know.The second film continues the adventures of the title character Bilbo Baggins as he journeys with the Wizard Gandalf and thirteen Dwarves, led by Thorin Oakenshield on an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor.

Frankenstein (1931)/Bride of Frankenstein (1935) Harkins Theatres Contest for Tucson Spectrum

Halloween is just two nights away and what a great time to watch some great horror films. If you love classic horror films, especially a couple of the original films from the 1930's and on the big screen, then you are in luck! We will be giving away a couple of pairs of tickets for a double feature, for Frankenstein (1931) and Bride of Frankenstein (1935) for the Harkins Theatres at the Tucson Spectrum tomorrow evening at 7pm.

Classic Horror Movies Coming to Harkins Theatres Including John Carpenter's Halloween (1978) and Frankenstein (1931)

Halloween is a week away and many people enjoy watching all the scary movies they can during this time of year. We always enjoy watching the new horror films that come out this time of year, but there are many classic horror flicks that can be watched over and over again and can never be matched or should not ever be remade. Harkins Theatres is bringing back a few of those classic horror movies to the big screen that should be brought back on the big screen! John Carpenter's Halloween (1978) will return tomorrow, Thursday, October 25th for one day, and a double feature of Frankenstein (1931) and Bride of Frankenstein (1935) will be in Harkins Theatres on Tuesday, October 30th. 

This fall, Compass International Pictures, Trancas International Films, and Screenvision turn back the clock to October 1978 in the sleepy town of Haddonfield, Illinois for John Carpenter's immortal classic, Halloween. Beginning October 25th, the original genre-defining horror masterpiece graces the big screen once again. This nationwide release is the widest the film has seen since originally shocking audiences in '78, and will be presented in a striking new HD transfer and 5.1 audio. Michael Myers has spent the last 15 years locked away inside a sanitarium under the care of child psychiatrist Dr. Sam Loomis. On October 30, 1978, Myers escapes and makes his way back home to Haddonfield, turning a night of tricks and treats into something much more sinister for three young women. Dr. Loomis is their only hope, but will be find his shadow-dwelling patient in time? Screenvision's presentation of Halloween will include an exclusive documentary short written and directed by Fangoria's Justin Beahm, You Can't Kill The Bogeyman: 35 Years of Halloween, focusing on the undeniable impact the film, and series, has had on culture and the genre. Just in time for Halloween, NCM Fathom Events, Turner Classic Movies and Universal Pictures will present a Halloween Double Feature in movie theaters nationwide in celebration of Universal's 100th Anniversary. Don't miss seeing Boris Karloff on the big screen as the original "Frankenstein" (1931) followed by Karloff and Elsa Lanchester in "Bride of Frankenstein" (1935). The event will begin with TCM Host Robert Osborne as he treats audiences to exclusive interviews conducted at this year's TCM Classic Film Festival. Joining him will be Karloff's daughter, Sara Karloff along with Bela Lugosi, Jr. the son of the classic "Dracula" star and Academy Award winning make-up artist, Rick Baker. All three will talk about classic horror movies, how legendary icons like Boris Karloff and Bela Lugosi helped define the genre and how today's horror films measure up to the classics.

The epic saga of the Dark Knight is one of the most celebrated franchises in history.  Harkins Theatres is proud to present an epic event of caped crusader awesomeness with The Ultimate Dark Knight Marathon! See his origins in Batman Begins and his dramatic showdown with the Joker in The Dark Knight leading up to the highly-anticipated conclusion with the midnight premiere of The Dark Knight Rises.

The Dark Knight Marathon at Harkins Theatres

Holy awesome, Batman! Harkins Theatres hosts Dark Knight marathon on July 19!

It may be the end for the Caped Crusader's latest story, but Harkins Theatres is starting from the beginning with The Dark Knight Rises Marathon, Thursday, July 19, leading up to the midnight premiere of the third and final installment of Director, Christopher Nolan's trilogy, The Dark Knight. Fans will be treated to screenings of Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, and the premier of The Dark Knight Rises at midnight.

As has become tradition at Harkins Theatres with previous marathons for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Pt. 2, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, and The Avengers; Harkins offers fans the opportunity to connect with each other while reliving the excitement and intensity of the past two Batman films.

Tickets for the marathon go on sale Monday, June 11, with pricing details and locations being released later in the week.

The Dark Knight Rises will face Batman against a new villain, Bane, as the superhero tries once again to defend Gotham. The films stars Christian Bale, Anna Hathaway, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Tom Hardy and Liam Neeson and opens Friday, July 20th.

Welcome to our second of a few in the series of various contests we will be offering in the next couple of weeks. Does that sound confusing, it should be. Let us try again. We are offering our second contest and this one is another great one for those moviegoers, especially if you love going to the Harkins Theatres. This contest will have a similar twist to our previous Ultimate Twilight Marathon Packages contest, thanks to Harkins Theatres. 

The prize this time is for those LOYAL customers of Harkins Theatres. We are giving away a Loyalty Cup and a Loyalty Shirt. For those who may not be familiar with these two items, you may want to pick these up even if you do not win.
