Bead on 29 July - 4 August

week 31 -  2018

bead on fabric

new month noted with the vertical bugle beads

finished the pink lacy row along this trim. I like the 'frilly-ness'.

I am contemplating another row using small beads to make it even more frilly.
You can just see the pattern on the bit of thread left on the needle.

Bead on 8-14 July

week 28 2018

bead on fabric

trim
I did take out the next picot edge because each set was too close to the next one.
So, I used more of the same beads, which causes the set to stand away slightly. 5 beads in each set rather than 3. It alternates pink with the metallic grey and pink with a dark red (like a transparent red with a glaze that looks metallic in some positions. To be honest, they look nearly the same when on the trim, so it is quite easy to realise you carried on with one colour instead of alternating.

This is how much I have done now; a little over 12 in/30cm.
Going for the lacy look. I am not sure if I have enough of the pink to do both sides, but I think it would be a bit too hard to control if it were on both sides.

Starting a combo of these beads along the side. But I may back up and make it not so tight. However, it has been too hot to sit and fuss with it!

Bead on 24- 30 June

week 26

I have been watching the World Cup football with The Thoughtful Man, so haven't had time to deal with photos. (Stitching and/or reading, though)

Bead on 10-16 June

week 24 - 2018

bead on fabric
With my walker, I managed several days on holiday with much more walking than I had done before. So, I am trying to continue. Going out with Holly for about 30 min around the houses...but not down or up hill at this point. (Holly is still trying to work out just where we are going, as it isn't her regular route. And how to go fast enough to keep me from running over her lead or hitting her backside, yet slow enough that I can get up and down curbs safely.
Anyway, I wanted to keep track of this...sort of an incentive to continue.  Little purple bead at the top of the square following the day's bead stack.

Is this too much stuff? well, although I am 'filling' the fabric with a 'random' pattern, I am also recording things for this year. So, that is the true goal.
Taking Saturday's off, for the most part, because it is already busy.
Next week I will be turning the corner for the next row.

trim
Having completed the length - 40 cm - I started up one side with little black beads.
and now that is finished and I have begun going up the other side.

I will probably see if I can get the 40 inches with this. Then do something along the sides or one side.

week 17 - 2018

bead on fabric
The right half of the beaded area.

completed bead netting bracelet/cuff closure
It is a bit stiff and not particularly well done, but it extends the length enough to fasten it.

I am not sure if it would be called a cuff. It is wider than most bracelets. (If I had stuck to their plan, it would have been wider and thus narrower. But that's how you learn.!) But perhaps cuffs are more of a bracelet that is wide and can stand on its own?
What do you think?

bead on fabric
Detail this week - the last ones in the line going right to left

Netting - Finished!

6 1/2in long 2in wide
I used all of the accent beads + 2 which read as the same at the end.
It is just about big enough for a bracelet for me So, rather than a trim, I made a loop in the last row. I have developed a plan to make something lovely to go on the other end so it will fit through the loop. So, I will work on that this week.

Beadon - 1-7 April

week 14 - 2018

bead on fabric
from right to left you can see what a busy weekend it was last week. A Certain Young Man's birthday, Good Friday, Sewing club, new month and Easter!
This is where the over all look will have interesting clusters of 'random' patterns. But to me, I can look and see the places where interesting things happened.

And not chenille stitch trim. Not sure how many times I unpicked more than I progressed with that, so I stopped...

...To do something I hadn't done yet.

Netting.
Yes! I can do this. I found a set of instructions that used the accent bead, which I wanted to do.
I still don't think I will  have enough of the accent to make a very long piece, but longer than the chenille would have been. I can already think of different variations for this.

I think I will have to look for a better chenille stitch instruction because that is what is causing me grief. I can't work out the right turning on some steps from the instruction or image. I think I get it, but then I get to the next row and it isn't right, so I have to take it back. Or I go off and come back the next day and can't do it again!
Now I know why I stopped where I did with the pink one!

Bead on - 25-31 March

week 13 - 2018

beaded fabric
A detail, rather than full photo, so you can see what it looks like.
This week it is the bottom row from the gold start on the right to the bugle beads on the left which stand for the end of the month. This weekend full of birthday/Good Friday squares, too.

I realise now that these won't cover as much of the fabric in one year as I had thought. I have no idea what I was counting when I counted it! So 3 months has not yet covered 3 whole rows. But I do plan to do hand stitching along the lines when I line the fabric for use. So, maybe I will work out what is needed at the end of the year and move up to several each day. Though, at this point, I can't see myself wanting to have a lump of cloth with beads on it in the corner of the room for years!

Well, I have 9 months to think!

I started another trim. Flat Chenille stitch in red.
I tried it previously (in pink) when I was testing the idea of whether this would work for a daily. -I decided, no. But it works for something to do when I can.
It is a very complicated stitch. and I didn't realise how many accent beads it would need. You can see I counted it out. I think I might just get it to 4x the length it is now. Which isn't much. So, I might do different sections using continuous main colour beads but a different accent red in each same size section.
But, it will depend on how much I have to constantly follow the pattern and constantly go back and unpick a row or two!
