--Heavy firing was kept up during the greater part of last night. But little Going this morning.

Charleston, Oct. 2.

--The enemy's movements on Marris Island indicate rather a design of permanent than of immediate operations. Two monitors are kept close to the Island doing picket duty. There has been scarcely any firing to day.
