--Michael W. before the Mayor yesterday to answer charge of violently assaulting and beating John McDurmont, a British subject. McDurmont, in a state of intoxication, was reeling along Cary street, when the prisoner seeing him, and being also exhilarated, charged him from the rear, and with a heavy club laid open his scalp to the bone. What the provocation was, if any, has not been developed. The examination was adjourned.
