The wheat crop South.
From every quarter we hear the most favorable reports of the growing wheat crop. In some parts of Alabama there will probably be more wheat made than for the last ten years together. The breadth of land put in is much greater than was ever known before and the crop is uncommonly promising. The recent cool, dry weather, is said to favor it, and unless some disaster overtakes it, the harvest will be a beautiful one. Nothing but the fell spirit of specification can keep the price of flour up to its present rates. As much less than half the present rates for wheat, the farmer will make abundant profits on his wheat crop if it should turn out as it now promises to do. In Florida, hundreds of acres of cotton have been plowed up and are being planted in corn.
