Court proceedings.

Mayor's Court, Saturday, Feb. 23.
--Arthur C. Douglas, Lieutenant in Rodgera's cavalry company arrested by officers Perrin and Bibb for stealing a $300 horse from Maj. J. W. Atkinson, was examined and sent before the Hustings Court.

Lawrence Spain, arrested by officer Crone for breaking up a lot of furniture owned by Mrs. Enright, behaving disorderly and resisting the officers, was required to give security for his good behavior.

Frederick Deitrick and August Holem, arrested by policemen Carter and Bibb as suspicious characters, without visible means of support, were committed to jail for further examination.

John A. Clerke, arrested by officer Baptist for assaulting and attempting to rob Lewis Cohen, was committed to jail for further examination.

Henderson, slave of Wm. Brown, was ordered to be licked for going about with a dirk knife instead of his pass.

Peter C. King, James Hundley, Wm. H. Comstock, and Charles Suras, arrested by officers Kelley and Quarles as being concerned in the robbery of Chiles & Chenery's store, on Broad street, were partially examined, and committed to be sent back to Petersburg, where they were arrested.

James H. Goodist was fined $1 for getting drunk in the Theatre, where he behaved disorderly.

Wm. M. Almond, arrested by the watch Friday night for being drunk and wandering about the streets without any place to stay, was admonished and let off.

Carolina Lezace and Myer Myera, charged with receiving a lot of dry goods stolen from Chiles & Chanery, were examined and sent on to the Husting; Court on the second Monday in March.

Mrs. Mary Connors, her daughter, and Fanny Houston, were held for further inquiry to be made on a similar charge against them.

Hustings Court, Saturday, Feb, 28--Judge Wm. H. Lyons proceeding.

James S. Tyler was put on trial for stealing a horse valued at $200, the property of Elizabeth Houpt. The jury found him guilty and assessed the term of his confinement in the Penitentiary at two years.

The trial of George Hoppell, for consulting and robbing Linnaman Farrell in the city jail, was then commenced, and was to be followed by that of Jno, A. Whitman a lad charged with forging a one dollar Virginia Treasury note and attempting to pass the name.

Josiah H. Goodman was trial before third Court on Friday for stealing two blankets from C. W. Spicer, of the Columbia Hotel, and acquitted.
