Seigel's movements.
That there is a large Federal force somewhere between the Rappahannock and the enemy's fortifications at Arlington, there seems to be no longer any reason to doubt. This column, if our information is correct, is under the command of the Dutch General Seigel, who figured conspicuously in the early part of the war in the State of Missouri. He is represented to be a bold and energetic officer, and if, as stated, he has a corps of thirty thousand men under his command, this expedition may mean something more than has been attributed to it.A passenger by the Central train last night says that considerable excitement prevailed at Culpeper yesterday morning, in consequence of a report that the enemy were advancing on that place. They were said to be some fifteen miles distant from the Court-House.
