--At appalled meeting of the City Council, last evening, Mr. Griffin alluded to the escape of nine prisoners from the city jail yesterday morning, and presented an estimate prepared at his request, by the City Engineer, of the cost of filling up the space beneath the cells with granite Masury. The estimated cost is $800; which sum was forthwith appropriated.
