To the voters of the Senatorial District composed of the counties of Henrico and Hanover.

--Mr. Williams C. Wickham having resigned his seat in the Senate, from the above District, at the solicitation of many gentlemen heretofore of different political parties, I hereby announce myself a candidate to fill the vacancy.

Entirely approving what seems to be the public sentiment, in opposition to a regular political canvass in the present excited condition of the public mind. I shall content myself with the above simple announcement, pledging to the voters of the District, if they shall see fit to elect me, to exert whatever of ability I possess, both of mind and heart, (eschewing all party feeling or prejudice,) to the establishment of Southern Independence and the promotion of the best interests of our noble old Commonwealth.
