Drought in New York.
--There appears to be quite a severe drought at the North. The New York Commercial says:‘ The products of the gardens of this locality are placed in peril by the long drought to which we have been exposed. Almost everything in the realms of vegetation, scarcely even Indian corn excepted, is suffering from the lack of moisture. In some localities the potato vines are withered and dead, and everywhere the crop will be but one-third or perhaps half of the average, unless fertile showers are vouchsafed at an early day, if even then they can recover their growth — How far this calamitous parching of the earth extends we know not, and we can but hope that it is partial. Otherwise it is to be feared there will be a scarcity of food both for man and beast.
