Keswick soldiers' aid Society.

The ladies of Albemarle are working diligently for the cause in which our brave soldiers are fighting. We are requested to publish the following:

The ladies of Keswick neighborhood, Albemarle co., Va., feeling great sympathy with their beloved country, in this her hour of trial, met at South Plains Church, Friday, July 12th, and organized a society, called the Keswick Aid Society.

Mrs. Francis Hart was elected President; Mrs. Margaret Rogers, Treasurer; Miss Lizzie Lewis, Secretary.

The following preamble and resolutions were unanimously adopted:

Whereas, wishing to form ourselves into a permanent body, to aid our soldiers who may be sick and wounded and far removed from their homes, kindred and friends; being willing to forego the luxuries and comforts with which we are surrounded, that we may bestow them upon our gallant defenders; deeming no sacrifice too great when made in such a cause; believing that every act of self denial will be twice blessed, and knowing that sacrifices are sweet when made for one's country: Therefore,

Resolved, 1st. That we will do everything in our power to aid and comfort the sick and wounded in our hospital at Charlottesville.

2d. If necessary, some of our members will offer their services as nurses at the hospital.

3d. That a committee of three be appointed to solicit donations from persons outside of the society.

Quite a number of ladies enrolled their names as members, and the committee appointed in accordance with resolution third, have been diligently engaged and quite successful in raising funds and other creature comforts for this good cause. Secretary.
