Another Fort Surrendered.
--On occasion of some artillery practice at Roxhill, in England, some four or five thousand of the spectators took possession of a martelle tower, which was the point to be fired at. All attempts to persuade them to retire proving vain, the Duke of Cambridge ordered a round or two of blank to be fired over them. Even then they stood firm, and the Duke then ordered a volley of shot to be fired well over their heads. The whistling of the shot settled the business, and the men outside vacated the position in such haste that they tumbled over each other and into divers ditches, in most grotesque confusion.
