‘ --The New York Journal of Commerce states that the N. Y. Central Railroad Company has adopted the "Smith" light, for general use, upon the locomotives of their road. ‘"By aid of this light,"’ says the Journal, ‘"the print of a newspaper can be read 2,400 feet distant."’ Nearly half a mile! ’
