3. συνέκρουε, brought into colli- sion (knocked together): cf. συνέκρουον, 163.5, and ξυγκρούειν, Thuc. I. 44.—ἐν οἷς ἡμάρτανον ἄλλοι, in others' blunders, cf. οἷς εὐτυχήκεσαν, § 18.6, ἐν οἷς ἐπιστεύθητε in § 100.6, ἐν οἷς εἰσηγγελλόμην in § 250.1, ἐν οἷς σεμνύνομαι in § 258.4, ἐν οἷς ἔπταισεν in § 286.6, ἐν οἷς εὐτύχησεν in § 323.9, ἐν αὐτοῖς οἷς χαρίζονται in IX. 63.
5. κατὰ πάντων ἐφύετο, he was growing above all their heads, i.e. so as to threaten them all.
6. τῷ μήκει: cf. δεκέτης γεγονώς, Aesch. III. 148.—βαρεῖς, overbearing, offensive.

8. καταφεύγειν ἐφ᾽ ὑμᾶς: no such possibility is suggested by the language of Demosthenes at the time of the peace; but times had changed.
