Please do not move west monkseaton post office

West Monkseaton Post Office is a great post office, staff are fab, but unfortunately the family who run it are retiring and then the post office will move to somewhere else. This would be a disaster for me if the post office moved away.

Please stay where you are.

Thank you

Unprofessional, confused and incompetent

I was asked to provide certified documents, which I did. They were then refused, as they weren't certified "correctly" even though they were certified IN THE POST OFFICE. Then, I rang up to ask where the error was, as well as contacted them via Facebook. Each representative gave me a different answer, and the staff in the Post Office had no idea how to certify correctly either! After hours of time and jumping through moving hoops, they declined my application despite my unblemished credit record and high score, thus negatively affecting my credit score. These guys really don't know what they're doing...please choose a different credit card.

Avoid credit card

Their credit card is a waste. I set up a direct debit, received a letter to say it has been set up and received a late payment fee of £12 a few days later. That is ridiculous, seeing as they had told me that the direct debit is set up

Money Exchange with backward Federal processes!

Booked my Euro's on-line and went armed with my print out and the card I used to collect my money - turned away as I didn't have photo ID!? Which UK citizen carry's photo-id? The cashier could easily have allowed my to enter my PIN to confirm identify; but no, I have to now go back to the centre of town and waste more time - rubbish processes and customer care

Rip-off

Bought 160 euros from local PO at a cost of £137 (to pay UPS for an item sent from Germany). However, UPS delivery man took payment in pounds, so I returned to PO where I got £111 back for the 160 euros.

That's a charge/profit of £26.

Rude, nosey staff. Closing branches, long queues.

The staff at my local post office demanded that I tell her what was in my packagepackage.

I replied that it is not a prohibited item and it fits writing their guidelines.

She asked again specifically what was in the package, saying she would refuse to accept it otherwise.

Her reason was "because someone could post a bomb or anything".
When I asked her if someone would declare that they were posting a bomb, she became quite confrontational.

So it seems they are taking away the privacy of honest people, whilst someone who posts dangerous things can just lie and get away with it. Rediculous.

I will be writing a formal letter of complaint to the post office

Sandy Park Bristol, UK

Very rude customer service from manager. Walked into post office which had no sign on the door and a queue of people at the counter. Manager said "We're closed!" in a very gruff way as though I was an idiot for not knowing. I only had a parcel with a pre-paid sticker on. He didn't even ask if it was something that he could take (He wasn't behind the counter, just wandering)

Post Office Broadband & Home Phone Chokers

Been with PO BB & Phone since June 2015. Worst experience with a company ever, and we swapped from TalkTalk.!
They choked us down to 0.2mbps of an evening and had the cheek to blame our neighbours. We live in rural Wales!

We are now with BT after they let us leave without a early termination fee (if that's not admission of faults, I don't know what is?) and we now sit happily with a meager 6mbps and very grateful for being shot of a shoddy company.

Beware!

Reliable service

I am surprised at so many bad reviews. I've always found the service reliable and efficient.

Worst run gov't racket ever!

The Post Office is a joke in itself. Who staffs only TWO employees during peak time. Then has FIVE others doing who knows what (anything but helping customers). The queues are a joke. The self-service machines should be renamed "Need more service" machines as there is nothing friendly or easy about them. You need to be a trained employee to use them - perhaps that was the plan all along. Then the Post Office has the gall to sell cards, stationary and sweets just to make money. The idea that many govt tasks are now consolidated into The Post Office (DVLA, Passport) is a real joke. The only thing they do well is foreign exchange but even that requires queuing. If there was ever an agency that needs a total overhaul - besides the NHS - look no further than The Post Office.

Post Office Portland Road Selston

Very friendly and efficient staff, always pleasant and thankful for your custom. Without going into too much detail the counter staff do actually go the extra mile to ensure you are paying the correct fees and give advice on future packaging tips to avoid jumping to to the next category. Excellent service every time I go.

What liars

You complaint online to the post office about not emptying their mail boxes and you get nothing but lies even when you see the postman taking your mail out of the box the day after it should have been emptied. When you complain you get an email back saying they aim to deal with your complaint within 3 days, this even took 4 days for the lies to be emailed back.

Documentation

I was sent a letter asking me to provide a copy of my V5C vehicle registration document as part of their validation process. They had the arrogance to say that if they did not receive this within 7 days they would unfortunately have no option but to cancel or void my car insurance policy.
I personally think they should be utilising their resources in validating their employees competency levels. Suffice to say I will not be renewing my policy with them.

DONT USE THE POST OFFICE FOR INSURANCE.

If you do decide to take out insurance with the post office then you MUST make sure you check all the details Before committing & paying anything!!
Today I was looking for insurance for my van on a price comparison website.
Although certainly Not the cheapest they were the cheapest for a name I recognized, narrowly beating admiral (or so I thought)
on the price comparison website, they (Falsley) state that a courtesy vehicle is included with the policy, but when I followed the link direct to their site, I couldn't find Any correspondence referring to it?
So I checked it out via live chat.
I was then told that It was indeed included, but luckily the representative said "on my car" so when I informed him that the quote I received was for a Ford Transit he then said a courtesy vehicle wasn't included in the policy. So had I not checked first I would have taken out a policy thinking I was covered for a courtesy vehicle when in fact I wasn't!!

I deliberately don't take out a cheap insurance policy with the little known named insurance companies as the reviews for them come across that are they are basically crooks but now it looks like the Post office cant be trusted with insurance as well as our parcels & letters.

I mean have you Ever seen such a poor review star rating by Any other company Ever?? any other company would have been bust by now.

Post office home Phones...USELESS

Useless Post office telephones

I have been waiting for almost 4 weeks for the Post office to connect my telephone service. Having spent almost 3 days on the phone to them and waiting in for them to connect our phone up, we are still without.
Their customer service centre is useless. Unless you have a problem that works with their on screen prompts...dont bother ringing. No one is empowered to make a decision
despite having spoken to a manager...I am still without telephone service. They cannot understand unless it works with the script they are given.

We are a new customer waiting to be connected. I told the operator when I first called, that the wire to our house was not connected...its a new house. I could see the wire dangling from the telegraph pole. I said "it needs to be connected into our house "
This must have thrown them entirely..no one could understand what on earth I was talking about.
I then went through a series of phone calls with I believe almost every operator in "Post office telephones" kept getting cut off, left holding on for periods exceeding 50 mins at a time. Every time I got cut off or transferred I needed to go through the whole procedure again. Name address, postcode account number. I went from pillar to post no one was able to do anything.
For me it was a simple request....Get someone round to connect the phone wire into my house

Post Office Home Phones.

I Have absolutely no problem with the post office staff. The problem I have , is with their Home Phone. Despite asking to have make account paid monthly by Direct Debit. They insist on se nding me a bill quarterly, to be paid over the phone. This does cause problems as I am deaf. So no stars at all.

It's easier to enter the country as a refugee than to open a post office account!

Thanks for nothing MARGATE post office!
Just had the most shocking experience trying to open a post office savings account. Firstly, the post office wasn't happy with my details ( maybe because I have moved recently) so 2 weeks after applying for an account and handing over a cheque for £2,000, I received a letter requiring further information. So I take my further details (passport and utility bill) back down to the post office at Margate and am told I have to photocopy them myself and then bring them back to be certified, which I do. When I return with the documents I'm then told, they can't send them off I have to use the envelope provided, so back home I go to get the envelope and post it all off.
Then a week or two later I receive another letter saying the details supplied were incorrect? What on earth is going on? They are my details, how can they be incorrect? So I phone them, when I get through, I question the letter and am told that Margate post office did not certify the copies of I.D properly because the girl didn't sign and print her name. So instead of them sorting it out between them, they write and tell me MY details are incorrect and they will be sending my cheque back.
What a joke, I have had a bank account since I was 15yrs old. I was born in Kent and haven't left Kent all my life, why is it so hard to open a POST OFFICE account?
And to top it off, my Cheque is still floating around, God knows where.... Cheers Post Office!

Borough High Street

Even though I'm reviewing Borough High Street this seems to be par for the course with all post offices these days.

There's less and less staff and more and more automated machines. This is ridiculous as so many people need to use the counter services for things such as passports etc so unless you're posting a simple letter or parcel you have to queue.

Borough High Street post office is in one of the busiest areas of London and there is never more than 2 tills open. Of course there's one till for business customers and one for foreign currency (I suspect they make money in those areas so have a dedicated till for them).

The staff are mostly perfectly pleasant but in no rush whatever, there's never any sense of urgency, tills often close even if there's a horrendous queue (which is most of the time!). There's a lot of chatting and getting up and moving around instead of getting on serving. I went in at lunchtime one day (big mistake) and there were 27 people in the queue and 2 tills open! The staff often wander off to advise a colleague instead of staying on their own till so then there's 2 people attending to the same person!

This post office is appalling and I have written to complain on a number of occasions but nothing ever changes. If there was another way to send parcels and letters I would switch to that in a heartbeat as the post office know they have the market cornered and couldn't care less about customers!

I dread going into post offices these days.
