Vintage Jewellery Gift Idea and a Challenge

Welcome to The Cherry On Top.

We're throwing it back this Thursday with an older digital scrapbooking kit from Feli.  We're also looking at some vintage jewellery as a gift idea for the coming holidays and we want to challenge you as well.

Take a peep at some layout love and get inspired.  Think critically about what kind of special gifts you'd like to give out this year.  Has vintage jewellery ever crossed your mind?  Perhaps you have a special piece at home you'd like to pass on or maybe you'd like to see what's available.

The above layout displays my grandma's ring she left for me.  It's actually my birthstone, too.  I remember this ring taking up most of her finger.  Hehehe...She was tall, but skinny and this ring could always be seen and I don't ever remember her not wearing it.  Although, she really did love her accessories.   

I have to admit, wearing jewellery with a story is so much more special.

The mind can wonder about who wore this piece?  Did they love it with all of their heart and soul?  Did someone special give it to them?  I often thought these musing when I'd wear vintage hats that I used to collect.

Vintage jewellery is a really great idea for a gift when the recipient appreciates, unique well crafted pieces.  If the jewellery has stood the test of time, you're sure to get even more wear out of it for years to come.

These are two pieces from my mother.  I absolutely love this owl necklace with the rhinestone eyes.  It sparkles magnificently against a darker coloured top or dress and it's fun pairing up modern clothes with antique jewellery, too.  A classic hand bag would make a full, authentic look.

I thought you could get a better idea of how special gift giving with vintage jewellery could be by showing off some pieces that you can find in an on line gallery like Invaluable, the world's premier auction and galleries.

I chose from an awesome array of beautiful pieces.

Necklaces, bracelets, pendants, watches, rings...there are so many choices.  Consider all of your options.  I loved these music inspired earrings.  What a wonderful gift to receive for someone who loves music.

Don't forget the man in your life.  Perhaps some gorgeous cuff links or other accessory would be something different than the normal gifts men receive.  How many socks and ties can I guy have?  Hehehe...

The watches totally caught my eye.  The older crafted pieces are absolutely exquisite and once again, unique from what's out there today.

We would love to see you scrap up your vintage pieces or if you don't have any, scrap your favourite jewellery wether old or new, cheap or expensive.  Just as long as it is precious to you.

Here is one more layout showing off my favourite golden hoops from my Grandma.  I'm not sure how old they are, but they are of excellent quality and I wear them all of the time.

Pocket Scrapbooking Sheets From The Cherry On Top

Welcome to The Cherry on Top's Hybrid Saturday.

We've got something new for you, pocket scrapbooking sheets.  The download format is in png so you can use it digitally and traditionally.  The sheets are sized 8x11 so it should fit just perfect on your standard paper whether you live in the U.S. or elsewhere.

This is comprised with goodies from other kits of our, Owl Always Be There series. Keep reading to see what lovely creations you can scrap up and see a quick tutorial on how to pocket scrap.

I try to keep the colours a bit printer ink friendly by using mostly lighter colours and plain white background wherever possible.  We keep your time and your wallet in mind with our products.  We want you to be able to scrap up something lovely in a short period of time and with little cost.  This way, there's no excuse to do what you love doing, scrapbooking!

This layout is an 8x8 inch digital layout, that I can quickly print out and insert in my pocket protectors in my album.  I'm amazed how fast it was put together.

Bring up your sheet and crop out your desired piece.

I added the piece to the top of two paper layers.

Make a duplicate of your background and insert your spots for your photos.  Use the cookie cutter tool to round the corners if you like.  Insert your pictures and you're finished!

It will be fast scrapping traditionally as well.  The beauty is, you can keep printing out the sheets you like over and over.

Ya don't even need mojo any more!  Just some digital goodies or use our digital templates as a sketch for your tradtional layouts.  I even print out particular aspects I like from digital templates and use them in my traditional layouts.

Free Greeting Card From The Cherry On Top and Kim Cameron Designs

I've got Kim Cameron back in the spot light with some very inspirational layout love, tips on how to turn a layout into a card and a free greeting card keeping thanks in mind, using Kim's newest release, Thankful Hearts.

Although my above layout seems a bit food inspired, it's from the Thankful kit. Last time I looked, it was on promotion. I love showing off the flexibility of a kit.  This kit would be great for Autumn themed pages and projects, cooking, fruit picking, anything you might have in mind.  Get a look at this page and take notice of the few, small transformations necessary to use it as a card as well.

The layout above received a lot of comments on a tradtional scrap group I'm in on Facebook.  My tradtional sisters loved that there were NO FLOWERS in my guys geared layout.  I'm not afraid to use flowers, pink or purple in my layouts for the boys, but some scrappy sisters wouldn't dream of it and they loved it.  I did use some leaves for a pop of colour.  Stay tuned for some Geared Towards Guys collections I'm getting ready for you in our shop!

So you can see the few steps it took, to turn my layout into this card.  Ditch the photo, add some lettering and adjust the size to your desire and print.  How easy is that?

How darling are my boys and their nieces.  They are like peas in a pod.  Even the dog is trying to get in on all of this love.

I LOVE this collaborative kit and templates, Drama Queen.  Yes, that is me and my hubs.  Hehehe...We like to pour on the drama when it comes to photos.   In real life, we have zero drama.  Our children provide enough for the entire family. Hehehehe...

This is a template from Lissy Kay and Dana's kit, Eternal Love.  My sweet, baby boys.
