Floral Spring Hybrid Tote Bag Idea From Clever Monkey Graphics and The Cherry On Top

Welcome to The Cherry On Top.

Enjoy another fun filled blog of scrap-a-liciousness in the form of hybrid and digital scrapbooking, today.  I've got more fabulous goodies from my own shop at Gingerscraps as well as beautiful kits from some of your favorite designers at the Sweet Shoppe.

If you've been following us for awhile, you know that I love color so much.  Especially, bright POW! In your face kinds of colors, which makes me a great match up with Tracey from Clever Monkey Graphics.  You can bet your pretty little butt that I fell head over heels in love with the colors and theme of this Little Shark collection.  How adorable?!   I had just the perfect subject, too!  My JJ is not a huge fan of water, but once he gets good and in there he's good to go.  It took him a really long time to learn how to swim and he struggles a bit, like a lot of kids.  Especially, those with Autism.  Stick with'm and make sure they understand the importance of learning to swim and swim well.

Ship Shape templates from TCOT and Little Shark from Clever Monkey Graphics

These templates are from GingerScraps Buffet for March and that means they are only $2.  I keep my buffet goodies at $2 for the entire month, but don't let that throw you off from buying now.  You might forget!

You are going to have a blast in Tracey's shop.  There are so many new things to look at.  Butterfly Season is a brand new kit and it is impatiently waiting for you.  I LOVE butterflies so much.  We have butterfly bushes at both of our places.  They are a huge attraction to the local insects.  We never use any kind of chemicals in our yards and gardens so wildlife is in abundance and bees and butterflies are no exception.  I've seen at least half a dozen varieties.  I've got two pictured here.  There are two new comers, but I'm yet to get a picture. One is a rather dainty fellow, mostly off white with a bit of orange at the tips of his wings.  I believe he's a Tiger Butterfly.  I'll try my luck again this summer and see if I can get him on camera.  There's also a tiny bluish purple one.  It could be a moth.  I have to brush up on these new visitors.

I added two extra layers to the top of Tracey's gorgeous black and white paper and used the pen in PSE to color over the lines.  Then I just clipped in some glitter paper using styles.  That's how I got that one flower with color.  Next time I do this, I'll make a video showing you how it's done.

Keep your eyes out for a FREEBIE that coordinates with this, at Sweet Shoppe! They have a page with a free sample from each designer.  This way you can try before you buy and they update yearly.  There are 23 free samples!

Also in Tracey's shop this weekend, you'll find Rawr!  A super cute and fun Dino inspired collection. I used our brand new templates, In Perspective for these.  It's a totally different way to scrap. I've got a lot more page inspiration with these on yesterday's blog as well as tips and optional, alternative uses that are included in the templates, but not shown.

JJ loved his Dino so much and of course he lost it because he took it with him absolutely everywhere. I had bought a back up, but you know how that goes!  Hehehe...

Also new in the Sweet Shoppe this week is JoCee Designs, Through The Stones kit.  Any Outlander fans out there?  I bought through book 5 and I've been stuck on the fourth one for awhile.  I'm still waiting for something to happen and I'm in over 300 pages!  Claire drove me nuts the first book.  I loved the second one and the third one was quite the adventure.  It all started when my hubs and I stumbled across the show whilst going through the channels on a local TV sender.  We loved it from the very start, but have stopped watching because I want to read all of the books, first.  Between us, it's really only pay backs.  He did the same darn thing to me for Game Of Thrones and he reads SO slow!

Through The Stones from JoCee Designs

You don't have to be a fan of Sharon's boos or the TV program to fall in love with Jo's kit.  The classic, luxurious colors are beyond fabulous and look at all of those thoughtful elements, too.  Gems, maps, ships, sword, plaid flowers...take your hot, long romance to your scrap page as I did.  Of course, it doesn't have to be a scorching one.  Hehehe...Pictures of castles, old buildings or artifacts would look great as well.  Of course, if you've been to Scotland, this would be an awesome kit to scrap that.

 Through The Stones

Last week, I showed off how you can use Tracey's journal cards and papers and make a pretty coordinating set of envelope and card.  I also provided a few links to free templates for envelopes if you need them.

Simply resize, print, cut and...

 Spring Floral

This was my page I designed with Spring Floral and my little JJ.  Of course, he is as tall as I am, now.

 Spring Floral

Today's hybrid project is WAY cool!  You're going to love it!

I simply removed the background and ditched the shadows on those un-layered, outside elements as you can see on my tiny image.

I did change up my page ever so slightly by removing my photograph and adding another pretty card.
Keep scrolling to see what I did with it!

Take your hybrid with you or even use your hybrid project to tote your other hybrid projects.

Yes!  Of course this is totally doable and all you need is some transferable paper, a printer, an iron and whatever you want your design to go on like a t-shirt or bag.  I found this quick video from the Hobby Lobby with some tips and instructions.  It's really easy!

If you don't think the glittery paint in the background will come out great, you can always do the real deal on your bag.  Just make sure you choose fabric friendly paint and glitter paint.  I haven't tried, but I might caution that it may be a bit trifling to iron over your paint and or glitter paint so do a test, first!

Take your digital scrapbooking skills to another level and go hybrid.

Thanks so much for popping over to The Cherry.  I invite you to scroll through previous blogs, grab the countless freebies and consider joining us across our social hot spots like FB via page and fun group, Instagram, Pinterest and keep up to date by joining our weekly newsletter family.

Happy scrapping!

Beautiful Free Printable Christmas Card from Aimee Harrison Designs and The Cherry On Top

Welcome to Hybrid Saturday with The Cherry On Top.

Yesterday, we offered a new freebie and gave some links to even more free stuff.  Today, I've got a really, really pretty Christmas card printable for you using Aimee Harrisons gorgeous, new collection, Of Sugar Plums.  Aimee's designed several new, fabulous Christmas collections and this one for me, is the cherry on top.  Hehehe...

Keep reading to find out how to get this card, check out the tutorial and see a few of the newest goodies in the shop, Kreative Design Studio.

Download this card further in the blog.

The goodies/embellishments in this collection are just ga, ga gorgeous!  It could be my love for purple, but this super dark, passionate pinky purple is just mega fab.  I scrapped my dear mo-la. Please pardon the poor quality of this one.  I accidentally deleted my original, layered format and I had saved this one at 600, but boy do ya see a huge difference.  No more saving for WEB for me.

 Of Sugar Plums

If you want to knock out some birds with the same stone, then duplicate your layered version and make some changes for a totally different look to fit your needs.  You can see the clustering is pretty much the same.  I added Aimee's beautiful word art and all I have to do is insert our new (hahaha) family, Christmas photo.  As you may know, my boys have Autism.  The youngest falls much lower on the spectrum and photo taking is anything, but easy.  We'll see how it goes.  Typically, the shots are more for a comedy or future family anecdote.  Hehehe...  Stay tuned!

 Of Sugar Plums

I've made a few subtle changes to my original layout for today's free card.  Notice them?  Good Lawd!  Do not aperitif before blogging.  Mental note!  Hehehe...

I always recommend printing on best quality, on good, sturdy paper as well.  If you've got semi-gloss or gloss, definitely use that.  The difference, in my experience is huge.  Also, let your project dry as long as possible before manipulating it.

I always give a tutorial for my hybrids and this one is just a few, very easy steps.

-download the free printable
-print
-fold in half
-cut off extra sides

I had my hubs choose a cutter for me.  Never again!  Hehehe...  Look at the size of this thing!  It does cut marvellously, though.  I need a table just for it.

See how easy it is?  Fold and cut and your card is ready.  Of course, if you're savvy enough, you can enlarge or shrink the card to your preference.

I want to show off the newest items in the shop, briefly.

First, our newest set of templates.  Designed for serious flexibility.  I'll make a video showing you the many different ways you can change them up to fit your needs.  Stay tuned, again.  If you want to see pages with the templates, check out yesterday's blog or the gallery on Pinterest or the shop.

This mini was free a few weeks ago.  If you missed it, make sure you are following us around and getting our newsletters.  Then you'll never miss out.  I also added a sticker sheet to the download incase you want to scrap traditionally.   I used these cards in an alternative manner, to scrap up a mini album.  I've got a video as well as step by step, picture tutorial.  Click here to see them.

Hybrid Scrapbooking with Aimee Harrison Designs and The Cherry On Top

Welcome to The Cherry On Top.

There are just a few tiny changes this week.  April 1st is a big day in DigiLand.  Mostly, because it's the first.  Hehehe...A lot of new scrapbooking products come out on the first and as many of you know, there are often blog hops that day, too.  Since we also contribute to a few blog hops and we have so many new products to show off, we are pushing up our typical Hybrid Saturday to Friday and our Freebie Friday to Saturday.  Though, I do have some freebies at the end, too.

So make sure you get your pretty little butts back here, tomorrow for a huge blog full of inspiration by means of pretty pages, the newest and most awesome digital scrapbooking products and links to many freebies.

 Orange Spice

I've got Aimee Harrison Designs in the spot light, yet again.  I'm showing off her newest collection, Orange Spice and some of her templates.  I've also got an idea for an easy hybrid project you can whip up in minutes.

Above, I scrapped up my nieces and their mom at the sea, here in Belgium.  I love when the colours in my photos match the kit.  Sometimes it's luck and sometimes it's planned.  Hehehe...  This page is strutting off Aimee's new templates, Patterns A Plenty.  I've got the link further down.

 Orange and Spice

Check out those borders, stamps and clusters.  You're pages are going to be so fantastic!

Let's get right into that hybrid project.

Aimee's collections have clusters, borders, word art and other special additions to make scrapbooking not only gorgeous, but really fast.  I often scrap about the many advantages of scrapping with collections either digitally or traditionally.  They save so much time and when piecing various collections together is not really something you're good at, then collections are definitely for you.

In my first screen shot, I'm using one of Aimee's clusters from Orange Spice as well as a frame from the kit.  I always like my frames at a bit of an angle.

With my PSE software, I can see exactly how large or small my project is.  These are going to be magnets for on my mother's refrigerator.  These colours are exactly what is in her kitchen and she is one of those total matchy people.  Everything HAS to match.  Hehehe...Soon as I saw this collection, I knew what I was going to make.  Besides, I promised dear mum that I'd send her newer pictures of the boys for on her refrigerator.  If you'd like to see the other fridge magnets I made with Paty Greif's products, click here. (Though Paty's store is closed.)

I used another cluster and added a few more elements to the cluster for this one.  I also perused Aimee's frames from other kits and found this lovely one which matches perfectly and is a bit of me mum's style.

When your clusters are all scrapped up, place them on one page to save paper.  that is, if they fit.  You see I turned one of them so it fits proper.

For some reason, I'm not great at printing from PSE.  I use my Preview from my computer for the best results.  I used my thickest grade of paper for this because I wanted it to be rigid.  However, if you plan on laminating your project, the grade isn't quite as important.  Because this hybrid is going into the kitchen, I'm thinking thick and laminated will be best.

Yay!  I've cut out my frame clusters, put them through my laminator...

Then cut them from the laminate.  You can see very obviously, that I left laminate around the edging so that it doesn't fall apart.  Sometimes laminate will come undone if you cut too close to whatever is inside and I didn't want that happening.

I grabbed my magnetic tape.  I can't believe how much I use this stuff.  I may have paid 2,99 for it and ya get a lot.  I believe I bought mine either at Hema or Pipoos, which is a craft store chain here, in Belgium.  I'm sure you can get it at A.C. Moore or Michael's, Hobby Lobby...

I wasn't skimpy with my tape, though my project is so light, it doesn't need too much.

I wanted to show them off whilst hanging.  My fridge is built in so I hung them on my metal desk.  Voila!

 Aimee Harrison Templates

Here are Aimee's templates.  They are so, so super!

 Aimee Harrison Templates

You are getting a bit of a bonus, today.  Since tomorrow's blog is going to be so packed stuff, I'm showing off these two freebies.  See if you can still download them.  they are both linked up.  I know for sure, Aimee has a lot of freebies on her blog and in her newsletter.

I'll be back with another beautiful hybrid project idea with another fabulous collection from Aimee, very soon.  Make sure ya "book" it!  That's your hint...Hehehe...

I hope you enjoyed today's hybrid idea and that you find the value in purchasing collections and find the versatility they provide as well.

Happy scrapping!

The PuurFect Scrapbooking Mini Album

Welcome to The Cherry On Top.

I suppose it is toal coincidence that as I'm blogging about kitties, my kitty is laying on my desk, purring loudly and giving me lovey eyes.  Hehehe...That's him, in the photo you see right here and why I designed that nice white cat in one of my latest releases, The PuurFect Kit.

I'm showing off a hybrid project using the Cute Cards from The PuurFect Kit.  You can have it scrapped up in about an hour!  You need very few supplies, too.  Doesn't that sound just great?

These are all of the supplies you need. Not bad, right?  You probably have all of this stuff.

The Puurfect Cute Cards

Here is a look at the Cute Cards.  Cute, eh?  Our Etsy shop closed because I didn't make enough sales there. Sorry for the inconvenience.  At least you can still use the How To part of the blog.

This is what the entire kit looks like.  The elements are just .99 cents as are the papers.  For just around 2 bucks, you can get totally scrappy!

The PuurFect Kit

Let's walk through this project.  It's mega easy.

First, download your Cute Cards from the shop and print them out.  I always recommend using a slightly glossy or gloss paper when printing printables.  The colour comes out more crisp and true.  I used high quality, thicker paper for the cards and a slightly better quality, somewhat glossy paper for the photos of Pluisje.

Tip:  I used the png format of the Cute Cards as a template for my photos of my kitty.  This way, when printed, they will come out the exact same size as the cards.

Print out your photos or use a card as a template to trace around your printed photos.

Cut out all cards and photos.

I'm offering an alternative method for binding your book.  I was consider using tiny rings, but wanted to try this binding idea.

I started my album with a Cute Card for the cover, then used a photo on the back and kept with this pattern throughout the album.

Check out the above image.  You see my card and the other square is a photo of my cat.  I used the left over paper from my cut outs to design these pieces.  They are all the exact same size and folded in half.  Then placed in the centre.  Just use the fold to line it up.  I used this glue stick because it allows for a little play for perfect placement.  Glue your photo with a card, covering this tab of paper.

Do this for all of your cards.

There ya go.  All of the binding has been placed in between each page.  The photos are on the backs of each of the card.  You can choose to cut the binding how you like once everything has been adhered into place.  Remember that wet glue may cause bubbling of your paper and double sided tape will not allow for mistakes.

The next step is to adhere all of the white tabs together.  From my experience, most glue sticks don't work that well and with a little change in temperature, your project could be falling apart.  I would use double sided tape for the binding.

You may also choose to decorate your binding.  I was considering either red ribbon or coordinating paper to cover the binding, but my son spotted the book and took off with it and I can't find it anywhere to finish it.  I was going to send it to his girlfriend (she's 12, he likes older women hehehehe...) who gave us Pluisje (and the name) when he was just a kitten.

What I really like about this kind of binding is how nicely the pages flip.

I was considering doing an accordion or flip style album, but really wanted to try this out.

If you don't like the tiny white binding showing through, you can always use coordinating paper. The colours in this kit are easy to match.

What a pretty kitty!

What a nice ending to a fun mini project.

I'll show off just a couple of layouts with the kit in case you're interested.

Another thing you may want to consider is increasing the size of the cards.  I'm pretty sure they measure 3x4, which is great for digital projects, but perhaps a touch small for traditional.  I may have wanted them a little bit larger for this project, but wanted to experiment with this size to see the result and take into consideration for future projects.

I gave away one of these Cute Cards last week. I've also stuffed a free Cute Card into both elements and paper packs when you purchase the kit, you'll find them in the goodies folder.

I hope you liked today's project.  Yesterday, we showed how to change up digital templates and offered several links with free templates.
