Travel Diary: Travel Day and Disney Day 1

Travel Day: Flying and arriving to the hotel
Early Friday morning we started our day by heading to the airport. Luckily our flight was on time and we arrived in Orlando right on schedule. For the first day we just wandered around. First we checked into our hotel which is Disney's Boardwalk Villas. Then we continued to explore the Contemporary resort (we have stayed there in the past), Port Orleans resort, as well as Downtown Disney.

Downtown Disney was a mad house! So we didn't end up staying long. But, they had a super cool store called the Marketplace Co-op. The store included a wide variety of little pop-up like shops. I thought it was very well merchandised (the fashion major in me talking) and super cute!

Disney Day 1: Magic Kingdom
For our first day at the parks we went to Magic Kingdom which is for sure a favorite of mine. Here is a list of my top favorite things to do:
-Rides: Space Mountain, Big Thunder Railroad, Tea Cups, Buzz Lightyear, and the Monster's Inc. Laugh Floor
-Food: Dole pineapple frozen treats, popcorn, Be Our Guest restaurant, and Gaston restaurant for cinnamon rolls

My lovely outfit includes my bid day tank, running shorts from Target, Lilly Pulitzer sunglass strap, and Ked sneakers. Unfortunately my tank is super long so you couldn't see my shorts. But, it was a hot day so it ended up working out!

Our first stop in the morning was a character breakfast at the Crystal Palace. I dined on puffed French toast, an egg and cheese omelet, fruit, and bacon. It was all quite yummy! Before breakfast we got into the park early which is when we took pictures in front of the castle without anyone in the background.

Here are a few shots of the lovely food that I ate later in the day. I snacked on a Mickey Mouse pretzel (always tasty) and we ate at Be Our Guest restaurant for lunch. Be Our Guest is based on Beauty and the Beast and it is so cool inside! For lunch I ate a roast beast (get it?) sandwich, french fries, and a triple chocolate cupcake.

The castle all lit up! All the Christmas decorations were still up which were so fun to see. You can't beat Disney at Christmas time.

Be on the lookout for more "Travel Diary" posts on my trip to Disney!

Spring Break Essentials

Spring break is right around the corner which means you need to start your spring break essential list!

My Essentials

  1. Vineyard Vines hat is one of my favorite warm weather essentials. It covers up your "bad hair day" or even a "I haven't showered" hair look. Not to mention they are just super cute! Baseball caps in general are a great vacation essential. My favorite brands include: Ralph Lauren, Vineyard Vines, Southern Tide, or a monogram hat!
  2. Monogram beach hats are super cute and practical! They keep the sun out of your face while you look fabulous. Get a plain one or order off a monogrammed one off Etsy!
  3. Monogram beach bags I think are super adorable. Anyone going on a beach getaway needs a beach bag. So, find a cute striped one with a little personalization so you can easily locate your bag.
  4. Sunglass straps come super in handy! They make wearing sunglasses not a hassle. You can simply wear your glasses around your neck when you aren't outside then just switch them for when you are out int the sun. Not to mention you can find super fun prints and colored sunglass straps! And another basic spring break essential is sunglasses of course! I love pairing my croakie with a basic pair of aviators.
  5. I recently tried Fresh lip balm and it is perfect! It's super moisturizing and some have a slight tint in color. One of these would be great to have on the beach when your lips feel dry.
  6. Body spray is an essential in life and on spring break. A quick spritz and you will smell great whether you are off to dinner, out, or going to the beach.
  7. Aerie swimsuits are my absolute favorite. Almost all of my swim suits are from Aerie because they are not only cute but they are made super well. And personally I don't mind a push up swim suit top and Aerie has some great ones!
  8. American Eagle festival shorts are my go-to summer shorts. So, of course you need them for spring break. They are high waisted so you can pair them with bandeau or crop tops. But, they aren't to high that they are awkward to wear with a t-shirt.
Those are my spring break essentials! Hope you have a safe vacation or trip wherever you are going this spring break.

How to pack for a cruise!

As you all know I recently went on a Disney Cruise. While I was packing I was struggling so much as to what to bring. Mainly because it is winter but I'm going somewhere warm and what do you even need for a cruise! So, after my cruise was all over I am making you a list of everything you will need for a cruise vacation.

The lovely Disney Fantasy that we sailed on!

  1. Obviously you need underwear and bras! If you are going for a week or four days or longer bring as much as you would for a normal trip plus a few extra if you want to change after a day at the pool or something. For bras only pack about 2-3. Pick a strapless option then a tan or white option. You want whatever you pack to go with anything you might be wearing.
  2. Bring one or two swimsuits! I packed way to many swimsuits for my trip. Although we had some iffy weather I didn't need the 5 or 6 that I packed. Bring your two favorite ones so you won't mind wearing them a few times. Trust me you don't need a different bathing suit for each port or day on the boat.
  3. Be sure to bring a sweatshirt of some type. It gets super cold between air conditioning and also the wind gets pretty intense on the top decks at night. So, just have one handy for when you might get cold.
  4. A no brainer is to bring outfits for your dinners on the cruise. Be sure to account for either formal, semi-formal, or casual nights. Also, follow the dress code for your ship! There is nothing I hate more then people showing up to a nice dinner in jean shorts and dirty sneakers.
  5. Also, if you are 18+ be sure to account for clothes you may want to wear to the bars or nightclubs on your ship. I'm glad I brought extra cute shorts and crop tops for my trip because after dinner I would sometimes change out of my dress and heels. So, if you would rather change out of your nice outfit into something more comfortable be sure to pack for that. I recommend bringing however many nights of outfits you plan on "going out" on your cruise.
  6.  For sure you need to bring all of your hair products, makeup, and other things of that nature. Just be sure to get travel sizes if you can and to limit what makeup you bring. There is no need to pack a bunch of eye shadow and blush options pick a small palette you don't mind using all of the nights. Also, don't over pack on lip colors! (I struggled with this one due to my severe addiction...)
  7. My last and final tip for you are some beach/ port essentials. Be sure to bring a medium to larger tote or backpack. This will come in handy when carrying your towel and other essentials. But, also it will be very useful if you plan to shop on any of your ports. This way you can just stick your souvenirs in your bag rather then carrying a bunch of little bags around. Also, be sure to back a baseball cap! I love wearing hats on a normal day but a baseball cap can hide your hideous "I just got out of the pool" hair. Not to mention it can protect your eyes and head if you are somewhere super warm.
So those are all of my cruise packing tips. If you are planning to go on a cruise anytime soon I hope you have a fabulous time! You could also take these tips into consideration for just a vacation to somewhere warm as well!
