Preppy Diaries: Chevron and Bubble Necklace

July 25th, 2013:

Today I kept things pretty casual. We went up to my Aunt's house who lives in Lake Forest for lunch (which was quite lovely might I add). Again, me trying to be preppy this is what I came up with.

The Outfit:
I paired this super cute chevron top with some simple tiffany blue colored shorts. This top is literally my obsession. I wish they made it in like every color because chevron is my favorite print at the moment. If it has chevron on it..... I want it. Then gotta have the classic J Crew inspired bubble necklace hanging out on my neck. Love this thing to death and it definitely fits the preppy bill. I paired the look with a darker pink lip stick/ stain from Mary Kay. (I wore a Covergirl outlast stain underneath it helped keep the lipstick in place all day)

Two OOTD's: How I Style Keds

Two OOTD's:

The Outfit: This day I kind of went for dressy casual. Again, this is my usual look but a casual spin on things. If that makes any sense at all.... Anyways, I kept it simple and comfy. This night I went to dinner and ice cream with my two good friends. After we went back and fan-girled about the new One Direction song aka The Best Song Ever. (really that's what it's called :) )

Where it's from:
Skirt: Nordstrom
Tank: Aerie
Shoes: Keds
Purse: Michael Kors

The Outfit: This is a super casual look for me! But, you know that moment when you buy something new and you make a whole outfit around it? Yep that happened. So basically I based it off this yellow floral statement necklace. I have seen a lot of grey and yellow together recently so I tried out the color combination for myself.

OOTD: Nautical Day

July 7th 2013:

The Outfit: I wore this white button down with a tie on the bottom to balance out the pattern shorts. The pattern shorts are adorable I love the whales and the anchors. These shorts are super comfy and the waist is really stretchy. This is my "Lazy Sunday" look. Even though it's not that lazy. With this outfit I paired it with rose gold jewelry and accessories.

OOTD: Neon and Stripes

July 6th, 2013:

The outfit: I feel like my ensamble was very Kate Spade inspired. I paired neon accessories with this simple black and white skirt. Black and white is a major trend this summer but I like to mix in a bit of color to give it something extra. Also I wore a hot pink bandeau underneath my tank so it would slightly show throw to give the outfit another addition of color. A detail I really like is that my shoes have tiny heart cutouts which is something that makes them a little more special.

My Must Have Summer Accessories: Army Candy

Arm Candy:
To be honest, I have no idea where the name arm candy came about. But, I do know that stacking bracelets and bangles is a amazing invention. In the summer time I always find myself reaching for my leather engraved bracelets, bangles, and sparkly little gems. However, this summer I took it to a whole new level. I'm pretty sure their isn't a day that I don't have some type of bracelet on my wrist! Here are a few of my favorite brands/ bracelets.

BCBG: So we all have seen these before, but they are just a leather band with different metal words. I have 3 of these super cute bracelets. I have a TRUE one which has rose gold letters and a neutral leather band. Then I have a FIERCE one which has gold letters with a black sparkly band. Then I have a rubber pink band with gold letters that say SWAG. These are just fun bracelets that can add some sass to your wrist. They are super comfortable and even fit my baby wrist so it is a good option for everyone.
Where to get them: Macy's, Nordstrom, and other department stores. I will say Macy's DEFIANTLY has the biggest selection though!

Marc by Marc Jacobs: Next, I have a few of these rubber Marc Jacob bracelets. They were on sale at a fabulous Nordstrom sale and I had to pick up a few. I had one previously and I really liked it so I invested in some more. These are honestly just a fun bracelet. I feel like a kid again with the rubber and the bright color options. I opted for more neutral colors that  I know I can wear. But, their are definitely more bright and bold options.
Where to get them: Nordstrom

Bangles: My two bangle obsessions at the moment are my Kate Spade bangle I received as a gift and my Alex and Ani bangle I got a Disney World. My Alex and Ani bangle I never take off. It actually fits my wrist and it is a souvenir from my trip. Supposedly it gives you energy or something like that. I cannot vouch for that but I do know that it's really cute. Then my Kate Spade bangle is bright and fun (like everything that is Kate Spade). It has white, hot pink, a lime green, and a coral color all the way around the band. The colors are separated with gold pyramid studs. Which is perfect seeing how I have gold pyramid stud earrings to perfectly match.

Henri Bendel: Although I only have one Henri Bendel piece, it does not mean I don't dream of more! I recently went into the city (Chicago) and wondered into the glorious Henri Bendel store. Mesmerized by the sparkle of the room and with new found birthday money in my pocket I had to get myself one. So I had to look past the beautiful colors to find a neutral piece that I could wear with anything. I found this amazing brown braided bracelet with gold and brown stones that wrap all away around. It is a beautiful piece and I haven't taken it off since I got it. You can definitely tell it is very well made so I know this piece is going to last me a long time.

Here are some of my past arm candy looks from my instagram and outfits. The London, Paris, New York, and rose gold link bracelet are from H&M. The spike and black pyramid stud bracelets are from Forever 21. Then rope like bracelet is from the Sperry store. It is made of real boat rope and has a junky silver clasp. Then the freedom bracelet is from Dry Goods.

In addition here are some of my favorite layering pieces. They are very dainty so they go along great with my more showy pieces.

These are my FAVORITE rose gold pieces. I am a huge rose gold junky so I wear these all the time.

OOTD: I heart you

Gotta love cheesey titles right? But regardless I feel like every girl has/ needs a top with a heart cut out because it's just adorable.
The Outfit:
I paired this red crop top with a almost nautical like skirt. The skirt is not quite a circle skirt but it definitely flares a tiny bit. Of course I had to pair this look with a fun red lip and my classic curls, which I basically do everyday of my life. Anyways, this outfit is super fun (well I guess I think it is haha) and super easy and comfortable.

OOTD: Casual Summer

So, being the typical girly girl I am this is my version of "casual". To most people this is a dressy option. However I hardly wear anything but skirts so this is my typical "vedge" day outfit. Weird to most people I know, but hey that's me.
The Outfit:
This bright tribal print skirt is actually pretty old. Just found it amongst some summer clothes and decided it was still cute. The fabric is soft and stretchy so it's my equivalent to the typical teen girls yoga pants. Paired with a classic tank and statement necklace I kept it pretty chill and relaxed (well in my book that is).

Arm Candy: SWAG bracelet from BCBG at Macy's, Henri Bendel braided bracelet, and my Alex and Ani Disney bangle.

Easy Breezy Maxi Girl: How I style maxi skirts

Maxi skirts are my go-to outfit when I wanna dress up this summer. Which I have to admit I dress up basically everyday. Most maxis are made with light chiffon like fabrics. Also, I'm a big fan of jersey or stretchy skirts as well. They are the perfect lazy day outfit but still you look polished and put together.

The Outfit:
Outfit #1: This coral color skirt just screams summer. Bright colors with a basic tee or top is an easy way to have color without wearing neon from head to toe. Also, by having small details in your top like the added stones or tying it up to the side you can add a little bit of you into your outfit.

Outfit #2: A classic color white shirt with a twist? I think yes! This shirt is basic but a must have for me! I wear it with practically everything. But, I especially like it with this teal sea foam green maxi skirt. Pairing simple shirts like this one with a statement necklace is a super easy way to add a little something special to your look. Statement necklaces are a major trend this summer and I think they will continue to be hanging around for the fall. I will admit I have a problem with buying these junky beauties but I definitely get my use out fo them.

Outfit #3: This outfit is a lot like the first. Another basic top paired with a flowy maxi skirt. I paired this pink skirt with rose gold accents. Also, I added these adorable Melissa jelly sandals by Forever 21. When I saw this collaboration I definitely took advantage of it! I chose these soft pink owl sandals because they are neutral enough to wear with a lot of things but still fun for the summer.

OOTD: Summer Lace

On a hot summer day, all I can picture wearing is a simple tank and some high waisted shorts. High waisted shorts are all the rage this summer. It seems like everywhere and anywhere is selling them. But, I like to find unique styles instead of the cliche jean high waisted shorts with a crop top. Of course nothing wrong with this style. But, I try and mix it up and put my personal feminine style into an otherwise kind of edgy or hipster style. So here is my outfit of the day.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2xuJA-Rl2_0

The Outfit:
My shorts are a blush nude pink color (the best way I could describe them). They have a linning in them that ends a little bit before the rest of the lace. The material is super stretchy and super comfortable. My white tank is a basic that every girl has in their closet. The small lace detail in the back makes it a little special then your typical wife beater tank. My rose gold sandals I literally live in. The whole rose gold trend is my favorite. But, besides that they are super comfortable yet still have a hint of that metallic sparkle.
