Burberry Spring 2014

Burberry takes spring with pastels and details.
Recently, I have been obsessing over various fashion weeks and designer collections. Burberry's spring collection is for sure no exception. This collection is full of unique textures and patterns mixed with one of my favorite classic spring trends, pastels.

The look on the left worn by Cara is one of my favorite looks from the collection. I love how the jacket is see through. It's something that is usually not done but I am kind of obsessed with the idea of a cute and chic rain coat. Also, the look on the right is perfect in my eyes. It has my two favorite colors purple and green incorporated into the look.

{Cara= perfection!}

{Loving all the detail work on the skirts of the collection. I like how they make a pattern from sequins and gems against the lace or sheer skirt.}

OOTD: Neon Layering

On super cold days layering is very important. I did a whole post on layering not to long ago so click here to check it out!

But layering can add so much interest to an outfit. It not only adds texture but also color and in this case some sparkle!

I first choose this sheer button down shirt that is grey with a neon green collar. Then I layered one of my favorite pieces an embellished sweatshirt from Aerie to the look. I love how the neon green collar stands out against the charcoal grey sweatshirt. To add on to my layering I also layered two statement necklace to create basically one huge one. It just so happens that I had two necklaces that matched my shirt perfectly! So I layered the two to create a mix of glam and edginess.

Pairing the look with jeans makes it more casual and easy to wear on an everyday basis. To dress it up a little I wore my crazy wedge sneakers. But, of course you could pair your look with black boots or whatever your shoe of choice is.

Overall I was kind of obsessed with this outfit and I am for sure going to try more looks like this in the future!

Carrie Diaries inspired look

One of my new obsessions is the show Carrie Diaries. It is full of fashion, friendship, and a really unique plot line. If you haven't watched it YOU NEED TO! The first season is one Netflix so go hit it up.

But, in the show I love young Carrie Bradshaw's style. She is super spunky and not to mention bold. In her looks she incorporates a lot of patterns, textures, and colors. There is never a dull outfit when it comes to her style!

This is one of an early looks she wears in the first season of Carrie Diaries. It is a super fun sequin dress, bright patterned cardigan, and then a bold pair of pumps. Although this look is a little out there you can totally get inspiration from it!

Here are two looks that I created based off that photo. Both looks involve sequins of course! I think both of these looks would be fun for a night out or a party. They have some 80's influences without being too obvious.

The first look (left) is super glam and more sophisticated of the two. I paired a cream and gold dress with a fun animal print cardigan. The colors aren't too out there which makes it a little more wearable. A pop of color is added with a skinny belt which you could wear at the waist. I added a fun pair of pointy toed heels and a long necklace to complete the look. The shoes also add a little bit of an edgy touch with the gold metallic heel. You could create this look by simply mixing up a sequin dress you already have.

The second look (right) is for sure very bold and colorful. I paired a cheetah sweater with a simple black sequin skirt. Bright pink pumps adds an extra pop of color in addition to to the green in the sweater. To achieve this look simply pair a fun sweater you have with a sequin skirt. If you have a colored pair of heels throw those on as well. To finish the look wear your favorite bold statement necklace and a dash of pink on your lips.

Don't be afraid to take inspiration from your favorite shows. If you see an outfit you like try and re-create it with pieces you already have.

Gold Glitter

Gold is one of my favorite metals. I love the look of gold and how glamorous it looks on. So, I wanted to share some of the ways I like to incorporate gold into my looks.

1. Jewelry: Jewelry is one of the main and easy ways to use gold in an outfit. Almost all the jewelry pieces I own have gold metal in them. I think its super classic and girly. You can get gold bracelets, necklaces, or even earrings anywhere! From Forever 21 to Henri Bendel there is a price point and style for everyone.

My picks:

2. A sequin dress or skirt: I love wearing sequin dresses or skirts to spice up your look. They are great to have around if you ever need a fancy dress. I also like to wear sequin skirts everyday. There are so many ways that you can wear them in a casual way. Or you can dress them up and make it a cute going out look. Here is how I styled my sequins skirts during the holidays:

3. Metallic ballet flats or shoes: Adding a pop of metallic for your shoes is also an easy way to add gold into an outfit. Also, gold ballet flats or heels are super versatile and you can wear them for special occasions or for an every day look.

OOTD: Holidays in Chicago

OOTD: Holidays in Chicago

Every year my family and I go downtown Chicago to go to the Walnut room and the Macy's on State Street. This year due to my wisdom teeth being removed we had to reschedule our normal trip. So, by the time we got there the walnut room was booked for the night! (It was crazy busy to say the least!) However we did get to take pictures with the tree and browse through ornaments.

For my outfit I wore my favorite sequin skirt and white button down. I mixed up the look with a pair of festive red tights and a plaid scarf. This plaid scarf may be one of my new obsessions! (So get ready to see it a lot.)

Where it's from:
Shirt: Ralph Lauren Polo
Skirt: Aerie
Tights: Target
Scarf: Khols
Necklace: J Crew
Shoes: Michael Kors
Bracelets: J Crew & Alex and Ani
Earrings: Kate Spade

I love these red tights! I was a little iffy about them but I saw Blair Waldorf sporting a pair on Gossip Girl so it kind of inspired me to buy a pair. And since Blair is my twin I figured I could work them as well.

Two of my holiday favorites include this nail polish by Essie (Beyond Cozy) and my gold glitter sunglasses by Betsey Johnson. Together they make a very sparkly combo.

{State Street Macy's in Chicago is my absolute favorite! We have been coming here to see the tree since as long as I can remember. Each year a different person designs/ decorates the tree and I love seeing how it changes from year to year.}

{My brother and I in front of the tree. You can see we both love plaid.}

Two of my favorite festive accessories! I always find myself reaching for this J Crew statement necklace. It is a total staple in my wardrobe.

{I spy Kate Spade dishes. When I am older I feel like all my dishes will be Kate Spade!}

{I wish I could pull off a Christmas tree as a skirt. How chic would that be?}
