Memorial Day at the Lake
Sigh, why can't all weekends be 3 days long. Think about how much happier and more productive we'd be during the 4 week days if we had 3 days of rest to look forward to? We had a fabulous Memorial Day weekend spent at my parents lakehouse on Lake LBJ in Kingsland, TX. They actually rent it out throughout the year and here is the link to the rental site if you are interested in a beachy getaway. I'm sure you can tell from pictures (if you follow me on Instagram or Snapchat... @ruthiehart1 on both) that the place is an absolute Oasis. A few rainstorms didn't stop us from having one heck of a weekend. My little family slept surprisingly really well in a 10 by 10 room together and we ate, drank, swam, boated, played games, and relaxed for 3 days. If you know Ford then you'd know he is a super safe kid so we've been hyping up swimming at the lake and driving papa's boat. I basically had to push him into the water because he was nervous and he ended up having the time of his life swimming, collecting shells, making mudpies and having fun with his cousin Embry. I think we have a fish on our hands this summer (a super safe one though). I forced him on a wave runner ride with me (don't judge, I knew he wasn't going to go on it willingly and he cried the whole time despite me staying idle and never putting on the gas). He did absolutely LOVE sitting on my dad's lap and driving the boat, it was too cute. We are going back in a week and a half to stay for 6 days and we are all really looking forward to the R&R! We did a huge shrimp boil one night... shrimp, crab legs, sausage, potatoes, corn, asparagus... to die for! Another hit of the weekend was drinking summer beer... and thus being in bed by 10pm ha. Now some pictures for ya friends.

Strawberry Picking
My sister and her kiddos were in town last weekend for Lucy's birthday party and extended their stay into this week. Ever since my sister had Embry 3.5 years ago, we've been talking and planning to go to Sweet Berry Farms to go strawberry picking. My parents have a lakehouse nearby in Kingsland so we had seen it many times before and took the babies to there last fall for pumpkins and fall fun. Look at how tiny my Ford was! It's about an hour from our house so we left in the morning and got there around 10am which was perfect on a Tuesday. It wasn't busy at all and despite some of the Texas flooding washing away strawberries, there was the perfect amount for a 2 year old and 3 year old. They each picked a few and ate a few and were done within 20 minutes. They jumped on a huge trampoline and fed goats, Ford loved that part! More activities are open on the weekend so I was bummed we missed out on the train ride but they had a blast. We ate lunch at the famous Bluebonnet Cafe and neither of my kids fell asleep the whole way home. I guess I haven't written much of a Ford update lately but he pretty much has stopped napping (does stay in his room and play and do quiet time) but I had to wake him up from a 2.5 hour nap after the farm! He was wiped!
If you live in Austin or surrounding areas, Sweet Berry Farm is such a fun place to go in the fall and spring!

In my Christmas jammies
It shouldn't shock you that my kids and their cousins have matching Christmas jammies this year (and it shouldn't shock you that I had them monogrammed in August... early bird gets the worm eh!). Last year Embry and Ford had matching jammies and we will match them as long as live under our roofs. It has become a tradition for our family to come over to the Hart house the day after Thanksgiving (since we always spend Turkey Day at my parents) and the babies lounged in their matching jammies before going to meet Santa in the afternoon, also a yearly tradition. This years jammies are Leverett brand purchased on Zulily and the monogram font is Giggles.

Big boy
Last week we spent a few days in Dallas with family and these pictures are just too cute not to share. I look at the pictures of Ford on his tip toes and Ford squatting in the front yard and cannot believe that my baby boy is no more! He looked so much more grown up trying to keep up with his 2 year old cousin Embry and wanted to do what she was doing. We went to the children's aquarium, played in the water table, colored with crayons and chalk (Ford did a lot of eating the crayons and chalk), and jumping on the trampoline. Watching Ford and Embry play independently and play together just blows my mind as I realize how fleeting each stage of baby-hood is. We've had a fun couple of weeks traveling with family and Jon and I may be biased but we have the most fun baby ever!
