Mojo Prayers

Hello! A couple of weeks ago, Julee announced that she was starting Mojo Monday sketches again! Woohoo, I thought! I love a good sketch challenge and her sketches have always been favorites of mine. I was also in need of a sympathy card, so I set out to make one this weekend.

Not knowing exactly how I would lay out my flowers, I stamped out all of the images from the Wild Rose stamp set (from Pretty Pink Posh) onto watercolor cardstock with Versafine Clair Nocturne ink and heat set with clear embossing powder. The Daily Marker 30 Day coloring challenge started up on November 1, so this was a sign for me to do some coloring on a rainy Saturday morning. I used Zig Clean Color Brush markers and a water brush to color the roses and leaves.

Next, I used the Wild Rose dies to die cut all of the flowers and leaves. For the gray panel, I cut a piece of Neenah Solar White cardstock and blended some Hickory Smoke Distress Oxide Ink onto it. I also splattered some water onto it to add a water color look. I played with arranging the flowers and leaves for quite some time. Once I was reasonably happy with the arrangement, I adhered it all with foam tape. After the layers were assembled, I splattered some Black Soot Distress Oxide over everything.

My sentiment (from PPP Encouraging Greetings) was stamped onto black cardstock with Versamark Watermark ink and embossed with white embossing powder. Finally, I added some Pearl White Jewels.

Here's a look from above:

Though it is hard to see in the photograph, I went over the flowers with a clear Wink of Stella pen to add some shimmer.

Here's a look at the Mojo Monday sketch #501.

Taylored Expressions | Perfect Paper Crafting Partnership

Hello! Taylored Expressions and Perfect Paper Crafting have partnered together for a month long blog hop. Taylor kicked off the hop on Monday on the TE blog and now it's my turn! Jenny Gropp from the Perfect Paper Crafting DT also has a project to show you that I'm sure you will love! Before you head over there, I have a project to show you!

If you are unfamiliar with the Perfect Paper Crafting products, you will want to visit their site and watch their how-to videos (HERE). They are very informative and visually show how easy it is to use their products. This was my first time using their products, and I was very impressed with how easy they are to use and loved the results. I worked with the Perfect Layers Mini and used the Perfect Cutting Mat. Combined, these made adding mats to my layers super simple and I love how precise they are!

I made this card for my daughter, Sabrina's Extended School Year (ESY) teacher. The sentiment is from Love Teaching. I used Mojo 254 for my layout (with some minor modifications). Here's a detail shot:

Here is a look at the Perfect Layers Mini in action (sort of). I wasn't able to get a clear shot balancing the camera and the craft knife, so below I'm showing you how everything looks right before you make the cut. Once you align the lip of the ruler against the image layer, you simply run your craft knife down the side of the ruler.

In addition to project inspiration, there are also prizes! One lucky winner will receive a $50 gift certificate to Taylored Expressions AND a $50 gift certificate to Perfect Paper Crafting! Please visit the TE blog and the Perfect Paper Crafting blog for all of the details. You have until tomorrow, July 18, 2014, @ 8 PM PST to leave a comment for a chance to win this fabulous prize! Also, be sure to check out both blog posts for a coupon code to use in both stores!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Mojo 295: Anniversary Wishes

Hello! It's time for another Mojo Monday sketch (#295)! It's Round or Square week. Our sketches are designed by Julee. Not only is the last Mojo sketch for the month of May, but it's also my last one as a Mojo Maker. I'd like to thank Julee for having me on the team for the past 2+ years! I will miss my fellow Mojo Makers and wish them all the best (I know I'll keep in touch with them in blogland). And last but not least, thank you for all of your visits and comments on my Mojo projects... I really appreciate you stopping by! I have always loved the Mojo sketches and will continue to use them for inspiration!

I used the new On Occasion to make this anniversary card for my mom and dad, who celebrate their anniversary on June 8th. I stamped, colored and cut out the largest flower and popped it up. The smaller flower is stamped on patterned paper and popped up next to the sentiment. Both flower centers have a sequin + pearl.

I hope you will play along with us this week. Please visit the Mojo Monday blog for all the details and to see the wonderful creations by the Mojo Makers. You can also visit their individual blogs for more details:

Mojo 294: Teachers

Hello! It's time for another Mojo Monday (#294). Julee has another great sketch for us this week!

The school year is winding down, and I'm trying to squeeze time to make a few cards for Sabrina's teachers. This one is for her music/band teacher, who worked tirelessly on the 4th grade musical production. I used the newly released Teachers Count today.

Here's my little cowgirl in the band room before the performance:

and afterwards with her music/band teacher, Mrs. Hutson (the first thing Sabrina did after the performance was to ask me to take out her braids):

Mojo 293: Look Who's Turning 10!

Hello! It's time for another Mojo Monday sketch (#293)! Today's sketch is brought to us by Julee. Tomorrow is Sabrina's 10th birthday, and this is the card that I made for her.

I was in the mood to color, and this image just screams Sabrina right now. It's Pure Innocence - Feeling Sassy. I colored her with Copic markers, cut her out and popped her up with foam tape. I flipped the sketch and allowed myself some "creative play" with the sketch.

Here's a detail shot with all the popped up layers:

I thought I did pretty well to stick to the sketch, but then the card felt a little out of balance, so I added the trio of banners to the lower left. :) The sentiment is from Blue Skies.

Mojo 288 + Project Life 2013 | Week 8

Hello! It's time for another Mojo Monday sketch (#287)! Today's sketch is brought to us by Sarah.

I used Remember This and Calendar Countdown to create this 6 x 4 Project Life title card. Over the weekend, I was actually able to create a PL spread and use this card on it.

Here is Project Life 2013 | Week 8:

Week 8 was a normal school / work week for us, though it turned out to be an interesting week because we got snow in our yard (I say "in our yard" because it didn't snow 15 minutes south of us) here in Phoenix. In fact, we didn't actually see it snow - we came home one afternoon to find snow in our yard! Week 8 covers 2/18/13 through 2/24/13. Here's a closer look at the left side:

Mojo 286: You Make Me Smile

Hello! It's time for another Mojo Monday sketch (#286)! It's the last week of the month, so it's Round or Square week. Today's fun sketch is brought to us by Julee. This is spring break week for us, so we're off on a little road trip. Before we left, I had a chance to play with the Square sketch (my card is 4.25" x 4.25"):

I pulled out some new Verve to use today. I used the Smile Plain Jane for my sentiment. I also used the Banner Bundle Set, the star border from the Scalloped Trim Trio Die Set and the largest star from Starry Die. The star was cut out of Kraft cardstock, ran through my crimper, then distressed with cream ink.

I hope you will play along with us this week. Please visit the Mojo Monday blog for all the details and to see the wonderful creations by the Mojo Makers. You can also visit their individual blogs for more details:

Mojo 285: Peace in the Days Ahead

Hello! It's time for another Mojo Monday sketch (#285)! Today's fun sketch is brought to us by Julee.

I'm in need of a sympathy card for a friend who recently passed on, and this is what I made for his widow. I used one of the comforting sentiments from Forever in Our Hearts. For the 2 corners, I stamped a small motif from Accent Notes and added a tiny pewter rhinestone to both.

I hope you will play along with us this week. Please visit the Mojo Monday blog for all the details and to see the wonderful creations by the Mojo Makers. You can also visit their individual blogs for more details:
