HEY PUMPKIN COUNTDOWN TO HALLOWEEN | with Kathy

I can't believe October starts tomorrow!  It's time to start our countdown to Halloween, and I have a fun side step card which I converted to a Halloween countdown using the Hey Pumpkin Collection!  Take a peek...

Get ready to trick or treat!  To create this project, I started with a side-step card base.  The one I used is from the Lori Whitlock SVG Shop (linked below) but I also have a tutorial here to which shows how to make the base.  My base was cut from the citrus textured cardstock which is from the Hey Pumpkin Coordinating Textured Cardstock Pack.  I decorated the base with papers from the 6x6 pad.

To create the "countdown" feature, I cut squares from the Homespun Heavyweight Acetate.  I cut them so that the spiderwebs were centered.  I then added numbers to each using some beetle black Alphabet Soup Puffy Alphas.  To do a month-long countdown, you will need the following numbers ( 1, 1, 2, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 0).  The numbers are held on to the card base using a mini clothespin in beetle black which I hot glued for stability.  I decorated the clothespin with a creepy-cute spider from the Halloween Night Shape Sprinkles.

On the "step" side of the card, I created a little scene using Odds & Ends, Icon Stickers, Halloween Assortment Sprinkles, Halloween Night Shape Sprinkles and some Mini Icon Stickers.  I love how Doodlebug's collections have a variety of sizes of their icons to help create fun scenes!  I also added strips of "grass" that I cut with a border die from my stash.  The Halloween word is from the Chit Chat pieces.

To make my witch, bat & stars seem like they are flying, I added a piece of clear heavyweight acetate to the last level of the side Step card, and added the stickers and shape sprinkles directly to the acetate.  I love the look it creates!

Of course I had to add one of the cute black kitties from the collection.  I used one of the kitty in a cup stickers from the Icon Stickers, glued him behind the Halloween and added some coordinating sprinkles to make it look like his paws.

On the back of the card, I have a little pocket to hold all of the numbers.  I covered it with a fun circle element from the Chit Chat Pieces.

If you create any projects using the Hey Pumpkin Collection, be sure to tag Doodlebug Design on socials!  We always love to see what you create!  That's it for me today, thank you for stopping by to peek!

HOMETOWN USA PREVIEW WEEK - DAY 2 | with Tonya

We are back with another sneak peek of our new Hometown USA collection!  Today's project features the new Festive Floral Doodle Cuts.  Tonya created a couple of darling cards using the new dies, take a peek...

The first card uses papers and coordinating cardstock from the Hometown USA Collection.  The Dies are designed so that you can also make a shaker. and Tonya added some of the new Land that I Love and Lily White Shakers to her jar. The Land that I Love Shakers are so fun, they are a mix of stars, flags and hearts!

To show the versatility of the dies, Tonya also created this bright and cheery card featuring papers, textured cardstock and Spring Flowers Shakers from the Bunny Hop Collection.  There are so many ways to use these Doodle Cuts!

Be sure to stop by tomorrow as we continue our fun Hometown USA preview week!

BUNNY HOP - BUNNY ACCORDION MINI ALBUM | with Kathy

I'm excited to be kicking off a month of Bunny Hop inspiration!  Doodlebug's Easter collections are always a favorite, and ADORABLE, and Bunny Hop does not disappoint.  I combined the collection with a couple of the coordinating SVG Files to create this fun Easter-themed mini.  Take a peek...

I started with the Bunny Hop Bunny Boy and the Bunny Hop Fancy Egg SVG files which can be found in the Lori Whitlock SVG Shop.  I used them to create the base of my album using chipboard, textured cardstock and papers from the collection.  I used the chipboard to give it sturdiness, and so that it would stand up for display.  I played with the Egg file in my Silhouette to create a shaker for my album cover.  I filled the egg sections with the new lily white and bunnies and chicks shakers.  My title is from the Chit Chat Pack.  I just love the overalls on that Bunny!

Since the album stands on it's own, I wanted the back to look as cute as the front for display.  I added the overalls on the bunny back, and I just couldn't resist a little pom-pom bunny tail!  To keep my album closed when standing, I added a ribbon tie that closes with some Velcro Dots.

The album is a simple accordion style for the pages.  I copied egg shapes in Silhouette, overlapped them slightly and welded them together.  I cut them from the coordinating textured cardstock pack.  All that was left was to decorate the pages!

I started by covering each "page" with papers from the 6x6 Pad using a stitched egg shaped die from my stash.  I then added photo spots (rectangle & stitched dies) and decorated them using all the fun goodies from the collection... This & That Stickers, Odds & Ends, Icon Stickers, Shaped Sprinkles, Chit Chats and Bits & Pieces.   I love an accordion album because you can use both sides of the pages.  Here are some close-ups of the first "side" of the pages.

I made a couple of pockets by cutting another egg, cutting it in half and gluing around the edges to form the pocket.  This made a perfect spot to hold a tag from the Bits & Pieces for journaling. The tag toppers were done using ribbon from my stash and my tiny-attacher stapler.

Here is the other side of the album pages...

I'm so happy with how this turned out... it's always great when things turn out like you envisioned!  I put together a quick video showing the album in motion, you can see it on my YouTube Channel here.

Be sure to check back all month long for lots of Bunny Hop projects from our Design Team!  If you've created any Bunny Hop Projects, make sure to tag Doodlebug Design on socials, we always love to see your creations!  That's it for me today, thanks for stopping by to peek!

SNOW MUCH FUN CARD ASSORTMENT MINI ALBUM | with Conny

Hello there, It's Conny and I'm excited to share my latest mini album with you, created using the Snow Much Fun Collection. I incorporated acetate and the Snow Much Fun Assortment Cards and Envelopes to make it simple and easy.

I began with two chipboard pieces. One was used for the back cover while the other was for the spine. For the front cover, I used acetate. I wrapped the chipboard with blue polka dot side of the Snow Much Fun paper and added a little extra detail by stitching it.

To create the acetate cover, I cut a piece measuring 6.5" X 6" and scored it at 1.5". I stitched it to the outside of my spine using a sewing machine to keep it together. However, if you don't have one, you can still use your favorite glue that dries clear. To adhere the back cover to the spine, I used a piece of white cardstock measuring 4" X 6", scored at 1.5", and added the 1.5" to adhere it to the spine using your favorite glue.

I used cards and envelopes to create pages for my project. To hold the cards in place, I used hinges that measured 5" X 3". I scored them at 1" and 2". Additionally, I used another piece that measured 1" X 5" and scored it at 1/2". I adhered it to the middle of the first hinge and then placed the hinges in the middle of the spine.

I added double-sided tape to both sides of the hinges, then adhered the cards and envelopes to create pockets or flip-open designs.  Next I started the fun by adding embellishments and decorating! For the cover page, I kept it simple and used Hello Winter Doodle-Pops along with a few gems.

I can't wait to see what you all create using the Snow Much Fun Collection! Take care and see you all soon. XO, Conny.
